Wow! I just LITERALLY drew just an eye and colored it in. What an on time video
I sketched an eye but didn’t color it :)
Why do I feel like Sam knows human eyes so well because he has dissected them personally
THE LIL CROCHETED CHILD BIRB IS SO ADORABLEE ❤❤😭
ur username is my life bro
I KNOWWWW I NEED HIMMMM
Thank you!
For those taking notes:
1. Get the white of the eye
2. Find the color of the iris
3. Find where the light is coming from and as a result find the light side of the iris (opposite the light source)
4. Add the dark color to the pupil and use that color to darken part of the iris that is not in light
5. Add the highlight
Tysmmmmm!!
I appreciate the notes soso much!
worlds best art teacher fr 🙌💗

0:07 The birb finally have baby after violating alot of videos we finally got a result 😂
Violated a lot of videos just to make other wholesome
It only took 9 months
I told my bf that eyes are like jewels just yesterday. Lol Thank you for the break down of the eye shape and light reflection. Copy and paste will never work out the same as actually understanding the 'why'. Cheers!
Such a perfect intro 0:25
Daammnnnn....11secs early. Your art tutorials help a lot. I now have your words play in my head every time I draw.
i thought the video was only 2 minutes long. I DIDN'T SEE THE TIME GO BY, what a wonderful video
right I absolutely love that you explained what and how along with why. just being told what to do and how to do it doesn't really help much because you don't really learn anything from it. you're just doing what you've been told will work. but knowing why something is done the way it is done means I can apply that knowledge to different scenarios on my own and it actually would look right. I've watched tons of eye tutorials but this one has got to be the most helpful one
This principle actually applies to most things; you learn better when you understand the why etc. Whenever I run into a new medical term in my work, I don't just go "oh I'll just memorize this then" but I look up what it means, what's the context and that really helps me remember. (no I'm not a nurse or a doctor but otherwise working in the medical field)
the fact you didnt draw mike makowsky over ur drawing or even make a joke abt it is the reason why im subscribed 🙏🙏
Do you mean Mike Wazowski? The green fella from Monsters Inc.??
Finally, Sam has come.

Never seen such a clean, straight and well explained tutorial! Love it!❤
Sam is the art teacher I NEEDED and LOVE. Period. :]
Nothing gets me as inspired as Sam's art processes. Thanks for the awesome, helpful and fun video as usual 💜
the Birb family is growing at a rapid rate 🔥
Crochet birb is so cute
A T-Shirt T-Shirt, how genious. You'll never forget that it's a T-Shirt! hehe
Thank you Sam for teaching me about the eye structure and how to draw an eye with light and shadow
I really appreciate the directness and length. I learned what I wanted to know, I know both why and how, I saw multiple examples, and there's a little humor 'highlight' from the one illuminating the subject. It really colors it in for me.
I just want to let you know that I always mean to watch your videos and have a bunch of them saved for later because I appreciate all the work you put into these tutorials and all your vidoes in general. Life has been rough and/or I may/may not be having horrible time management skills for a while now but just know I appreciate u!
The eye diagram jumpscared me and brought me back to 9th grade science class when we had to dissect a real eyeball 😭
Oh-
Wait what? In what country they force kids to do something like that? As an afternote; since it obviously wasn't a human eyeball, what was it then? Cow? PIg? Those come to mind if you're talking about something about human size and otherwise similar
@@nhiedre I thought that it was normal because they make kids dissect animals/body parts in the US as well (I’m from Canada btw)
@@Am_I_a_Canvasno in america we definitely don’t do that my fourth grade science teacher gave us candy to make rocks and then we got to eat it 😋
I literally started learning how to color eyes today, this is perfect
Another amazing video from sam ❤️ thank you, you’ve helped me so much with my art.
thanks for breaking this down, it’s so nice to learn why things look the way they look and definitely helps me remember it better!! ❤
Thanks Sam, even tho my style have consistent black eye with no reflection on it, I’ve wondered about this😊
Like my what?!...
Coming on top?!...
Bro Sam getting to comfortable with us and I love it!❤
This is really short, insightful, helpful and just entertaining! Thanks Sam! !!
Wow, this is super helpful! 😍 I’ve always struggled with coloring eyes, but your easy mode tips make it look so simple. I’m definitely going to try this out on my next piece. Thanks for the clear instructions and the great video!
Such a good teacher-Sam! WHYYYY
Ty so much for this Sam, I was literally looking for a good video for this yesterday. 😅
This is why i follow sam he teaches.
I just realized i never learned how to color eyes traditionally, just digitally! I hath been inspired!!
I actually shade the pupil and shadows in reverse of Sam! I find the darkest color of the eye and use it as the pupil instead 😁 the black has always been too off-putting for me lol. loved the tutorial by the way!! 😊
This is the best way of teaching Sam!
Why does that look so good though😭
Never has someone described how the eye works in this detail - not even my biologist teacher. XD
Thank you, now I understand it so much better!
Wow. What a video. Took a concept I've been struggling with and made it so understandable. *Praise Birb*
This is the tutorial I needed as an art baby! Still learning from it even as an art fogey. Keep it up, Sam! :-)
this was a really good vid ty, when i color eyes it usually looks unrealistic so thanks a lot
Shallow bowl. Got it! Sam, you are a gem!
On the last tutorial for begginers you said i could use a default smooth brush instead of your special/paid one, but yours was clearly much better than the default i tried to use
Love these! I have always loved the way you’ve painted eyes. Thank you for sharing this ❤

That’s so normal 😊
Because views are not counted in real time but comments are.
Not anymore
Bruv😭
Are you as popular as he does?
Sam's intros are getting creative day by day 😂😂😂
Great tutorial! The step-by-step approach makes it super easy to follow along. I love how you broke down the process for beginners-definitely going to try this out! 👍🎨
Sam is so good at tutorials cause he not only talks about how to draw it he always talks about why he does what he does and beats like all other tutorials I've seen✨❤️ (thank you Sam for the amazing tutorial)
Thanks for the tutorial! Had fun drawing along :)
I've reached the eye part of my drawing now. Literally this video is just in time.
this is the best eye tutorial in the history of eyes
sam we need more videos like this i love them. your reaction videos just dont inspire me as much as these tutorials. i just want more videos of you drawing in general 😭😭
i love you tutorials! More tutorials!!!
Sam goes crazy today!
sam im gonna take this opportunity to practice more anatomy. thank you.
Thank you Sam. I am new to drawing and your tutorials are helping a lot. I always thought that art was for someone with a natural talent, spent 30 years thinking so, but artists like you convinced me other wise. Now I have a hobby that I truly enjoy! Having something I look forward to helps me through the hustle of the day. Can't wait to get back to my tablet so I can draw some eyeballs!
I really appreciate your art tips. I struggle with eyes, so this is very helpful.
Thanks Sam!
this is so pretty
omg that was amaizing and so simple to follow, really helped me
Sam is our supportive, fabulous, hilarious, and artistic older brother
every day we become more frightening to sam. everyone apologize to sam.
sorry sam :(
sorry sammmm
So simple, so easy... now to watch this video 10 times to commit to memory and practice.
Why are the beginnings so good 💀
Sam makes it sound so easy
sam is honestly my inspiration for starting digital art love your content sam
Ya know, what I really love about this, like Sam said, is that now I actually know the ‘why’ behind how it’s colored- I subconsciously knew it was just how it was, and I color eyes similar- put a darker base, add more vibrant/brighter color to the bottom of the iris, then a highlight opposite from that, but I never really questioned it 😂Thanks for your easy-to-consume explanation for my wee art baby brain, haha
Who would've thunk that wanting to get better at art would mean watching Sam's biology videos 😁
Omg a BOWL! This makes sooooo much more sense now, thank you!!
This one made me laugh more than usual 😂
I love all of your videos but this was especially helpful so thank you!!
Okay, so samdoesart is doing art. 👍🏻
That serious expression switch at the very end made me spit out my water Sam! Good one!
thank you Sam! this really makes it so easy and fun to draw eyes 🥺
0:43 omg how did you knowwww
thanks ! i ll use this on procreate
TUTORIAL TOO SPECIFIC, IT _BLINKED_ WHAT DO I DO NOW????
I needed this so much. Thanks, Sam! ❤
I like to place the highlight so it crosses the border between the iris and sclera (when it makes sense for the light source ofc), otherwise the whites of the eyes can look flat in comparison to the iris, if there's no highlight on them.
In school I think I had to colour in an apple & my art teacher pointed out how the objects never have just one colour in it. There object or person is always going to have different colours in it and including those in the drawing makes it so much better and cooler.
So if you just colour your eyes in with let’s say, just brown & black as the pupil, it’s gonna look boring, but adding lighter, darker or different colours that match up with the eye colour will make the drawing pop more.
I startes watching you yesterday and i have to say that Your videos are very good, i am able to learn about digital art so easily.
New subscriber for sure
Thanks for the art tips love your content im gonna go draw now :)
hell yeah more tutorials from sam
