When birbs have more game than Sam 🗿
Bro the fact that this aint blown up yet is crazy
@@stormyay yeah because it was Uploaded just now?
@@stormyay nah u tweaking this blew up right away
Hahahahaha 😂 ❤
Birb teach me your ways
This is an amazing change of pace. Seing sam's mistakes and thought process is 100 times better than any Tik Tok art tips
exactly!!!!!!!!!!
Yes!!!
indeed :3
CRINGE TIKTOK
If you're on TikTok to learn art, you're the problem!
I always love seeing Sam work traditionally 😊
I agree, its nice to see different styles from him
Same!!! I'm a traditional sketch artist, so though the digital art videos are fun, I can't engage with them as much as with this sort of content. :D
I love to see him work traditionally, too. 😊
It’s sort of gives a refreshing feeling of sorts, I dunno if the it’s the vibe he has on his desk or a digital artist (most of the time) doing traditional art.
finally i can now draw excellent faces on my stickfigures
Sam's intros are getting more and more interesting every video
No theyre not
I have a collection of Sam’s beautiful intro faces💀
@@startingmap2387 no need to be rude dude
Yes, the birb rizz is growing
@@mariagonzalezituarte Tbh I only made that comment to get a reaction. I don’t actually disagree lol
merry christmas thanks for being a nice person either way
It’s so nice to see artists as practiced as Sam struggle in the same ways I do sometimes with faces. It helps you to realize that “failure” as Sam calls it, is normal and even good at times to help you grow. It makes my own failures feel less detrimental to my art journey
if you don't let yourself fail then you'll never succeed
agreed !
This came at a perfect time. I JUST got back into learning how to draw faces/heads again
Have fun and dont overdo!
You've drawn more sketches than I've drawn all year lollll art hasn't been as fun for me lately but this has me wanting to practice !
Same 💀💀💀💀
Well those were mostly 10min exercises. Imagine what you could Do in an hour if you wouldnt block yourself 😶🌫️ imagine 🤌
real
I spent a the last year practicing art and studying, in 2023 I didn't studied as much and drew more, but as time went on, I made less drawings than before I learned/practice it sucks
12:45 - When I started doing more anatomy practice with muscular men, I found that drawing action stars works very well for that! Actors such as Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren were my main references for muscular male bodies because they are two of my absolute favorite actors. I don't think I would have learned the anatomy as well as I did if I had not drawn guys I really liked.
I was just facing an art block and I started drawing today after 7 whole days and was struggling with faces this video inspired me to draw faces no matter however they are and also just because of you I started my first sketchbook. So thanks sam ❤
And I am seeing many comments about how you posted this video on the perfect timing and it is true, in my case too!😊
we need a birb webtoon showing their love and how they are having issues in their love life bcuz of sam
like forbidden love lmaoo
This video has just given me so much motivation alone to try more traditional through watching you sketch. 🙏
I’m so happy you’ve shared this with us-I’ve been in an artblock for months now and it’s been so draining, I’ve tried atleast a doodle each week, but what was throwing me off each time was my faces. And I’ve been wondering how will I learn to draw them better, and this video has helped tons already.
Thank you so much Sam
This is amazing. Like you mention a lot, I also think artists on social media tend to just show their best pieces, and not all of their mistakes, or even their practice, but seeing your thinking and also some of your mistakes you make will probably be really reassuring first a lot of people :)
His content is so entertaining and helpful at the same time. You learn a lot and the way he is delivering it - so much sass and humor - makes it even better. I would listen to an audiobook spoken by him.
I went back drawing traditionally and I got so used to digital it was so off. But it was nice to see that I have made progress and my art looks good. This is motivating!
this video was complete fire. Your pacing is great, you're funny, and you gave a lot of helpful, actionable advice. I have been drawing for the past 9 months, and made a ton of progress, but portraits are like the last big hurdle to deal with, and your advice on putting in the reps is great. I'll be starting tomorrow morning. Thanks so much Sam!
I’m so glad I found this video. I’m older and struggle with proportions for portraits . This is very helpful. Thank you so much🤗
This is exactly what the art babies need to hear 👏 Love Sam keeping it real with his art
I have watched 12 or 13 art instructors so far, and I find you to be the most compelling and motivational.
Haven't drawn in 8 months cus I was feeling insecure about my faces but thanks to Sam I drew and I think they came out pretty good❤❤
I loved this video!
Not only watching you draw, but also hearing your thoughts about every page and character, what you did to try to improve, and so on.
Very heplful! Would love to see more of this style of video!
Drawing skulls is beginner friendly? 💀
Literally like I can’t do this none of these tutorials make sense
It is not beginner friendly exactly, but it is something a beginner can do to step up his art game
I would need a tutorial to draw skulls first haha
it's easier than you think, seriously. Don't draw a detailed skull with detail and stuff. Just draw something look like skull

Once again you have perfect timing. I absolutely love your content and it has helped me so much
Would love to see a livestream someday of you just sketching in your sketchbook while talking to chat!
Thanks Sam, I am a beginner to art but am making steady progress; you and the other wonderful artists on UA-cam are a lifesaver.
As someone who is fascinated by sketching I love this. It would be also nice if you make a video about sketching techniques/linework and some tips of how to generally filter out details from the reference but still to keep the look of the reference.
thank you soo much Sam for the tips. My art has improved soo much ever since I started watching your videos.
bro this vid is so well spoken. Damn it's actually better than any other vid anyone gonna ever watch....if a beginner saw this vid they would be so much better at drawing rather than watching random Loomis method vids....bro explained the thing correctly and simply ! well done !
This was so so so helpful. I love that you focused on giving your followers specific strategies that they can apply to their own studies and drawings to create an individualized plan for themselves. In hearing how you were able to assess your drawings and make a plan for improvement helps me a lot because I often just blindly start over and "hope" the next one looks better. So I like the amount of time you gave to the importance of intention. Thank you for posting this amazing video.
Man ur just awesome! I love your humor as well as the calmness of your voice aligned with all this knowledge! Always a joy to watch with great new insights. Thanks for what you do!
I always love these videos, such great art! Pencil drawings are so fun
This is a really good way to keep the basics always up in the head , practicing for less time but pretty much often
Art is not all about perfection. It’s about creativity and fun to do! Let your mind be free doesn’t matter it’s ugly. Sometime making mistakes is the key of success like Pablo Picasso, his work is amazing!
I got sick today, so this was lovely to wake up to!!! Thanks for posting, Sam. I'm a traditional sketch artist, so I really really enjoy content like this!!!
I’ve been drawing for a long time and honestly doing only practice and studies for so long that I forgot why I wanted to draw in the first place… Still working on figuring that out, but you inspired me to try and practice with something I love more
THANKS FOR THE MOTIVATION I NEEDED, SAM!!
Thank you so much for this man. Ive been drawing for years and this past month I have not enjoyed creating art at all, if things don’t look good within the first few lines I get frustrated and quit. This video reminded me to be loose with my art, not getting bogged down on every detail. I’ve now created a piece which I actually like and had fun creating and only in 10 mins too. Sorry that this was lengthy but I can’t express how much this video helped me ❤
This is just what I needed to solve my art block. Thank you Sam for saving me from the clutched of death. 😂❤❤
Seeing sam leave unfinished sketches too makes me feel better
This was incredibly helpful! Thank you!
Your mindset is so good and infectious!
I was practicing some anatomy of faces and I found the perfect motivation video to remind myself to don’t give up and keep up with fun :D
These suggestions are GOLD! Thank you so so much😍
I'm a portrait artist but still enjoy sketching like Sam did here. This guy is fun, knowledgeable, and realistic about how to practice drawing. I seldom subscribe on a first view, but I did tonight! Can't wait for more!
Perfect timing. I just resolved to get better a faces with more practice. Thanks!
This is great, amazing work! These are continuous line drawings btw, a contour drawing is when you usually only draw the outline (the contour) of an object but more importantly this done while not looking down at the page. You “scan / trace” the contour with your eyes and blindly move your hand at the same time, drawing the same part you’re looking at, without looking at your page. It’s really cool to do, you’ll surprise yourself!
Traditional art Sam!!! Let’s go. Keep up the great content. Thank you for never failing to make me laugh.😊
These little sketches are so cool!! You really simplified them but they look incredible. It really shows that you don’t have to draw every single detail to have an amazing drawing
Would love to see more sketch videos from you! I've learned a lot from watching your channel.
Great video. Hope to see more of these🎉
This was a refresher! I was struggling on sketching recently and now I can allow myself to draw more freely and not stiffly. Sam should fr start doing live streams
Would totally watch a chill live stream like that whilst drawing myself
❤❤ Thank you so much 🙏🙏. I struggle with drawing faces so this is really helpful
I do traditional art but seeing u do it is surprisingly impressive and ur art style is very accurate and amazing
i love how he explains his process, lol my sketchbook looks very similar. same style of sketching too
You don’t know how much I needed this 😭
Thanks Sam! You're my biggest inspiration to being artist!
Either traditional or digital, Sam really nails it. Like always.
I tried drawing some faces after watching this video and I think it's the first time I actually feel proud of the result, thank you!
Please make a video on guide to learning anatomy like what you should learn first please 🙏🏻(eyes ,nose, hands, lips, body) cause there is so much to learn and I don’t know where to start 😭
This was so inspiring, I immediately picked up my sketchbook! Btw love that you do traditional art once in a while, because I'm personally not the best at digital art because of the way the pencil flows on the screen, thank you
This is super helpful! Thanks Sam!
Happy new years man, thankful to have ran into your UA-cam page, I started drawing again after 10+ years, since my wife got me the iPad with the pencil. Keep them tutorials going
Super helpful for a beginner. Much appreciated! However, while the actual sketching skills detailed in this video are a great place for me to start, probably the most helpful line in this entire video was "And if you're not already drawing right now, close UA-cam down. STOP IT! Okay? Pick up a pencil. What are we waiting for?" Off to draw I go! Thanks again for a great video.
Enjoying your content sam!
Now we need Sam to show us his old poo drawings and draw them again by showing us what when wrong and how to improve them
I just found your content and instant subscribe. Thank you Sam.
8:58 what you said around here helped a lot. Turned a 💡 on in my head. Thank you!
9:48 and this, critiquing myself as I go, I always just trying to rush through art, so I really liked what you said here as well. I feel like I'm always running out of time to be able to sit down and draw that's where my growth as an artist is stunted lately.
Love the way you draw
''Every single masterpiece that you see is built up on a mountain of poo.''
Literally the best quote/advice ever.
I don't know what videos gain the most views or likes, but all I know is that I LOVE these videos!!!! They are so inspiring and it is so amazing that you show all of your work so everyone understands the normal process. Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas!
Can we just talk about how nice Sams apartment is like- damn 😮
FINALLY MY REQUST HAS BEEN ANSWERED!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH SAM!
I always love seeing Sam work traditionally
Thank you for giving out these great tips for us artists. I will make sure to use these! :)
Awesome, Sam. I would love to watch a stream of you drawing these faces. :)
This seems really helpful and something really worth trying. Thank you.
Thank you! This is super helpful
thanks for the tips, Sam! this reminded me to try and enjoy art again instead of forcing myself to draw and feeling like sh-
this is the kind of video you come back to over and over again
This was very helpful! Thank you!
wow found this at the right time. totally struggled today doing and upward pose and i didn’t want to do it but i did and it wasn’t perfect but not bad either. so point is. ur right. ab challenge. there was something else. ur hitting points tho… ab moving on. it’s so hard for me.
I love how i can see the struggle and the train of thought here. As an artist, I was able to empathize with everything 😭
You're the best, Sam!!!! thank you for all your help!!😭😭💕💜💜💞
Wow, he drew a sardar!
Nice sketches. I really love the vibes.
Very fun to see a traditional art video!
Great video! Would love to see more like this
thats what i was looking for , a way to simplify my faces. thanks Sam.
every time i watch your videos and draw at the same time i feel like im improving from a minute to a minute
I’m a first timer on your channel. I love they way you teach.
Am very new to drawing. Great tips, great video, esp the last part. Saved in my playlist for future reference.
Love process review videos like this!
Sam we need coloring and anatomy videos too please, YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE I LISTEN TO😭
Something Sam does here (that's not really explained at all, especially to newer artists) is really important to understand if you're a beginner:
Sketch like a painter. Don't fill, indixcate.
Let me explain: He almost never fills in every single line for every single feature, detail, etc. Rather, he *indicates* these details and leaves gaps in the lines, or variance in the lines, or different levels of thick and thin in said lines. All of this for the face, eyes, nose, shape of the face, the hair, everything. You need gaps and variance, it's important. The shading works the same way, Different levels of dark in the shading, sometimes it's ultra light or ultra dark. It's how you get things to look natural and not "forced".
Hope this helps!
Great tutorial, Sam! Yep, faces are tough to handle. But what always amazes me is how our brains are hardwired to notice facial flaws. It's like an internal Photoshop that always wants to airbrush.
This is the missing gap in drawing lessons on yt. We need MOAR practice content. THANKS!
Nice video sam, I would appreciate if you'd teach us more about clothing folding and body angles
I was just looking up a video to see how you do them and then i saw this thx Sam.
thanks so much. I really needed this!!
this has been incredibly informative. its made me realize the flaws in my ways of practicing.
