The recording in a production room with headphones on bit makes a lotta sense for me. I never really took that into consideration even though I often record my own vocals in the same room. I have a cheap "booth" setup made up of pvc pipes and iso blankets which works okay for my room, but I'm usually doing takes and then taking headphones off once I finish and then start editing stuff thru monitors. It's actually a lot more frustrating if I'm recording takes, stopping, taking headphones off, playing thru something, deciding I need to record a part again, putting headphones back on, and stepping back in the booth. Must be some weird adhd shit because I've too stubborn to just keep the headphones until all the vocals are completed lol.

Really enjoying your insights, reflections, and informed musings, Tony. I'm a career cognitive neuroscientist (and lifelong musician) who is just starting to release electronica music. I'm sure the record deals will start rolling in soon. Keep up the great videos! Cheers from Carlsbad, California.

Especially isolapted while tracking while singing about a storyline too. Headphones and isolation really helps the vocalist get into that storyline zone, kinda like an actor who owns his role. Personally, I rather like waiting until the next morning before listening to what was tracked to the band’s music. It’s easier to get down from the roll thing. If that makes any sense
