Alex- A few questions: 1.The kit instructions (p. 10) say to use 87 degrees to sharpen for racing on down to 89 degrees for beginner. Why do you say to use 90 degrees? 2. Instructions also say to sharpen from tip to tail (p. 11). For any given angle on the tool, say 88 degrees, if you follow the arrow direction on the tool you can sharpen from tip to tail on one side only. If you keep the same angle and sharpen the other edge from tip to tail, you are going against the arrow on the tool. Should you sharpen tail to tip on that 2nd side? Or do you ignore the arrow and sharpen tip to tail? 3. The instructions (p. 10) show base bevels of 0.5 degrees, 0.75 degrees, and 1 degree. How do you sharpen the base to achieve those bevels?
1. my previous sharpener (15 years ago) only had 89 and 90 degrees and I was told to use 90. 2. When i am skiing i have a left and right ski (a bit OCD). If you imagine when you are skiing you are only using the inside edge of your downhill ski. I could sharpen both edges but to save time i only sharpen one. 3. I wouldn't worry about that unless you are planning on racing.
never set fire to base repair sticks unless you need to repair skis right on the slope. For these purposes, I use a regular soldering iron with a flat tip.
This was really helpful. The outdoor masters kit is a great value but their instructions are lacking. Thank you.
Excellent video Alex
perfect, thank you so much for this video, just exactly what I needed
Best video ever Alex.

Tip to tail only means go from one end to the other. Doesn’t matter otherwise.
Love it thanks
Will part 3 be skiing on the newly waxed skis?
Great vid Alex…How about one for us snowboarders…😊
Great video Alex! Thank you so much
How’s the snow this year?
After a dry December it's now been snowing all week, probably a good metre.

Probably a good idea. I know the pros use a hot glue gun with a stick of p-tex
