Thanks, Amanda! Good call keeping your gear in CLEAR bins…I have all mine in solid-colored bins. One time, I almost brought our Christmas decorations camping instead of our gear. Now they’re clearly marked on the side & top!
😂 yea Christmas decorations are not what you need at the campsite!
🤣 best comment ever lol
Thanks. Using a pillow case for sleeping bag storage is a great idea. My biggest pet peeves are the cleaning and storage of the camp stove and the air mattress ALWAYS leaks. Total garbage 😊😅😅. The manual pump that I was sure would break after a couple uses outlived the mattress 😂. Cleaning your gear is very important. Thanks again 👍🏻😊😊👍🏻 ⛺⛺
We wash our water jugs with a few scoops of baking soda, and hot water, put the cap back on and give it a really good shake. Rinse thoroughly and I store ours with the cap open to dry out thoroughly. We usually expect 1 day of rain each trip here, so mud on the outside happens and the cap/tap on it we do use soap and water to clean as it can get dirty by the end of the trip.
Great and timely video. As I started watching I realized I'd not dried out my hammock and tarp after my last trip! It is now hanging up in my (humidity controlled) basement.
Great tips! Thanks Amanda. I definitely need to get myself some clear bins 😊
Excellent advice and presentation. Thank you!
Great tips! Thanks you for sharing!
Useful tips for the post camping part of adventures.
I love the Shin Black Ramyun! Thanks for the video
Thanks! Great info... appreciated!
thank you for all your advice & tip! you make the BEST videos!!!
thank you!! I'm really glad you like the videos 😁
This is so timely. I was just in the basement sorting the camping gear.
Hello Amanda, great ideas for storing your gear. Thanks for the information.
You are so welcome! 😁
You have the best tips! Very much appreciated 😁
Happy to help! Glad you enjoyed this one 😁
Lot of helpful information! We do some of the same approaches with our gear!
Thank you for sharing some great information
I sure enjoy your videos
You're so welcome! Thank you for watching 😁
Great points! We like storing our camping gear in tubs too. It makes it so much easier when everything is together.
It sure does! Whenever I want to go camping, I'm almost completely packed thanks to the bins!

Great video!! Lovin' all of your content, keep crushing it! :)
I'm so glad!! Thank you for commenting 😊
Great video…I love seeing the organizing videos! Those of us who are OCD can never get enough!
I could talk about organizing forever!! 😁
Very nice interesting video. Big like. Thank you very much.
Another great video. We have a couple of bins but they are either too big or small. Those look great. I had no idea that you needed to store your sleeping bags uncompressed. Ordered a couple of large laundry bags that I think should do the trick.
Leaving your sleeping bag uncompressed is especially important if you have a down sleeping bag. It's not as important for synthetic sleeping bags, but I still try to give them room to loft up! Large laundry bags would be perfect!
Too funny - I was actually going to request a video on how you cleaned your tent/camping gear. Thank you!
Perfect timing! 😁
i use those big water containers and after a trip I use boiling water (or as hot as the container can handle) with a little course sea salt, seal it and shake it. Drain it with several rinses, and air dry as you mentioned. Also do this with my water bottles as well, might not do anything but makes me feel better.
Amanda Inside :)
I spy the Beekeeper's Bible under your coffee table! I suggested that book to you in a previous comment (either here on UA-cam or Insta - I can't remember). I hope you are enjoying it!! I'll look forward to your future videos on beekeeping 😉
Yes!! I think it was on Instagram. I bought it based on your recommendation and I love it. It's such a beautiful book! I'm dying to have bees one day 🤗
I'm surprised you only have 69k subs. You have really great content I would think you should have 1 million subs already!!
Much better than my method, which is just throwing things in designated corners :)
Great video! I was wondering, though, how you store your Exped Mats?
Spot ON, I use totes too, store them in the corner of my bedroom, take them down to the car and I'm 80% set... I hang my sleeping bags in the closet so they don't get mashed and lose all their 'loft/warmth'
Yea the bins make it so easy to pack for camping! Hanging the sleeping bag is another great option! Thanks for commenting 😁
@@amanda.outside you're doing a GREAT job.. Hope to meet you someday..
got to it before miranda in the wild! lol wondering if u got the idea from her last video 😆
Excellent 🍬 🤪👑😘
One of those few videos where Amanda outside made a video indoors
rare indeed!!
Maybe another video, creative storage for small spaces.
Don’t store gear in the shed if it’s sleeping bags or anything material. Mice love to cozy up in the winter and ruin it with holes. Thanks for the video!!
Such a good tip!! Thanks for commenting Joe!
Have you considered a vehicle based kitchen such as NomadKitchen, PullKitchen, etc?
Just a side note, bleach actually breaks down info safe ingredients so you could always use a bleach/water mixture.
What happens if we store sleeping bag compressed?
Yes, I would like to know too! I always store mine compressed in the bag it came in. And they sell them that way so I wonder why we shouldn't.
If you keep your sleeping bag compressed for a long time, especially a down sleeping bag, it won't loft up as well the next time you go to use it, and therefore it won't keep you as warm. This isn't as much of a concern with a synthetic sleeping bag, but I still wouldn't store it in a compression sack for long periods of time.
@@amanda.outside gpnna take mine out of their sacks now
@@amanda.outside good to know! Mine are synthetic, but I will have to get them out now. Thanks!
I use to keep my camping things in clear bins, but my husband is so rough with them that it’s always cracking at the bottom or broken lids. So I’ve gone heavy duty and he can abuse them as much as he wants.
What happens if the sleeping bag is stored compressed?
Some Sleeping pads shouldn’t be stored compressed either. Some say to store with valves open.
Love the videos! I am curious, what is the benefit of storing the sleeping bag loose and not compressed?
If you store your sleeping bag compressed for a long time, especially a down sleeping bag, it won't loft up as well the next time you go to use it. If it doesn't loft up, it won't keep you warm, so that's why I always like to store mine in a large sack
@@amanda.outside Great to know. Thanks!
I store mine in a storage unit that’s climate controlled and so far no problems.
First, I didn't know about the sleeping bags, a great tip. Second have you or Nick ridden electric fat bikes yet?🍔🍔🍟🍟
Thanks.
Ok....you guilted me in to making sacks out of old sheets so I can store my good sleeping bags lofted ad opposed to a stuff sack in a hot attic. Sorry, I'm sure that made you cringe.
