    Good stuff 👍🏽😃 One of my MUST HAVES when we go camping is I always bring a winter style beanie to wear when I sleep. Even in the summer months I bring it. You lose so much heat from the top of your head and it is usually the only part of you that is sticking out from your bag or blanket haha so it can easily get chilly which can make it tough to stay comfortable and sleep through the night. So at least for me, I’ve found that really makes a difference. 😊🤙🏽

      Thank you so much for this suggestion! I planned a camping trip for this weekend without checking the low temp for the nights. We’re camping in northern PA 😅 Bought a sleeping pad to top our air mattress, and will bring alllll the blankets but this is simply genius. I’m feeling way better about it now. Thx ☺️

      @@terrivelazquez4974 Hahaha no prob we just went camping in our last video just this past weekend! And I was cold! 😂 Also try hand warmers in pockets and bag, stick on body warmers (opened an hour before needing them), you can also boil water and pour it in thick plastic water bottles with secure lids and put the bottles in your tent and bag! Hope you have a blast and stay warm! 😊🤙🏽

    Great Video Amanda I like Wool clothing around a campfire because those flying fire embers don’t burn holes through wool. I always pack for cold and hot weather when camping because weather is unpredictable here in Colorado, Look forward to more of your videos, You always look good with your clothing selections in your videos keep up the great content Amanda! 😀

    One of my most valuable articles of camp clothing is a lightweight neck gaiter (I use Buff brand). It can be dipped in water to cool your neck during a hot day, or worn dry to warm the neck & head during cool days or nights. It's easy to wrap around the forearm or wrist to keep it out of the way if desired. It takes up no space at all & is easy to wash out & quickly dry. I keep one in my bike bag, jacket pocket, etc so it's always handy. I also wear one while gardening to keep cool, and during winter to keep me a little warmer in my drafty old house.

    This is so great! It would have been really helpful when I started car camping 14 years ago.
    Also really like the phrase “roughed up” re: how things get while camping. I’ve always struggled to explain what happens to clothes… they don’t get ruined, but they’re unlikely to be “nice” after camping unless you’re really careful.

    When I car camp with my family, I take a mesh laundry bag for all of our dirty clothes. It is a great way to keep the clean and dirty clothes separate! And wonderful suggestion to always have your rain gear no matter what the weather forecast says (I always do as well)....better safe than sorry! Another tip is to always bring an extra pair of socks than what you think you will need because you never know!!

    Totally agree with you about the sleep-only clothes. Always have a packable rain jacket and an extra layer. It often gets colder at night than you expect. Also, I recommend a knit hat to wear to bed. Keeping your noggin warm makes a chilly night bearable. Finally, when it comes to sitting around the fire in jacket weather, choose wool. Wool won't catch fire or melt like synthetic.

    I got the prana canyon joggers based on your recommendation from another video and they are my favourite for hiking/camping/adventuring. I even swam in them yesterday (impromptu swimming hole discovery with kids around) and they were great! They were able to dry off while I was wearing them and stayed super comfortable.

    In a previous video, you recommended neoprene socks for hikes in cold water. Not sure which one so I will comment here. The socks are fabulous! We recently rafted down the Colorado River and they were lifesavers for us, given the cold temperature of the water. Thank you for suggesting these. Otherwise we would not have to known to buy them.

    Layers are key and being honest with yourself. Are you going wear the same favorite shorts during the day and the same pants by the fire for the entire weekend? Do you need to bring more than 1-2 pairs for 4 days since you aren't wearing it all day and always grab your favorites? Did I spill ketchup or kids dirty hands on my BLACK shirt (never white in my closet, lol) - quick cleanup and no one will know. I do however like a clean outfit to wear home with a hat (camping hair - need I say more) so your not extra grungy if you see a cute patio for lunch or breakie on the drive home. For car camping with a beach nearby, I usually bring one light sweater (think long t-shirt with a hood like a sun/bug shirt) and a thick sweater for by the fire at night. One pair of pants, one beach outfit (shorts, sun shirt, and bathing suit with towel) and leggings/capris and clean shirt for each day. Any close layers that you sweat in I want a clean version the next day. Outer layers repeat the entire weekend.

    Do you have a clothes organization system in your car or any preferred way of packing your clothes when car camping?
    Oh! And thank you for linking the items on your vlog!

    • @amanda.outside
      @amanda.outside  3 роки тому +2

      When I go car camping, I usually pack all my clothes in a duffle bag and store that in the car. Sometimes bigger warmed jackets don't fit in the duffle, so I just leave them on top so they're easy to grab. Within the duffle, I do try to keep things neat and organized so I can easily find things. For smaller items like underwear and socks, I zip them into pouches in the duffle so I always know where they are! 😁

    Interested in the Carhartt leggings you're wearing, but reviews online say the waistband doesn't stretch much, making them hard to get over a muscular booty and still fit at the waist. Have you found this to be true, and would you mind sharing what size you got in those?

    • @amanda.outside
      @amanda.outside  3 роки тому +1

      I would say that the reviews are true. I had to go up a size. I'm wearing a Medium tall. They fit great around my quads, but unfortunately the waistband is a little big for me. I kept them because it's hard to find pants like that that are long enough and I really do love the look and durability of them. I've been rolling down the waistband, but I think I might just get it taken in so it fits perfectly.

    When you talk about clothes, could you tell us what's good for guys to wear? What's Nick wear? Does he use 3 layer approach? Would a rain poncho over this be too much?

    • @amanda.outside
      @amanda.outside  3 роки тому

      Nick still thinks about the same type of things. He has the same jacket in mens from Carhartt and definitely always brings layers and rain gear. Staying dry is definitely important, so I would bring whatever gear you have to stay dry in the event of a storm. Nick and I have rain pants and rain jackets that protect against rain and wind!
