its just my opinion, but the game will improve by a lot if the main theme was replaced with something more calm and less horror in feel, thats why Shadowgate, Deja Vu, and Uninvited was so creepy
Hi Teebowah! I really love the game and how you designed so it doesn't beat you over the head with "oooo spooky!" and opt for letting the player fill in the blanks.
I was already interested in this game after only seeing a few seconds of it. Love this kind of game. Played "The Horror of Salazar House" not too long ago and it was great, this game kinda reminds me of it.
Though I thumbed this up, eesh, I can still imagine plenty of trouble in nightmares similar to this game. But me being Christian (or at least I hope and ask that I am,) I sometimes pray in-dream and then I end up being fine and safe from nightmare terrors. It's pretty great whenever I do that, if I find myself there.
Shoulda seen what could happen in Uninvited with the Spider, or if you use an Ax on yourself. The flies thing is perfectly in vibe with this old style of game.
We need more Icom MacVenture point and click games! I remember few years ago, someone made a pretty good Shadowgate type of game set in Lovecraft universe as a "Prequel" to one of his short story. I think I even exchanged comment with him in a youtube channel about some advice for improving his game.
Stay tuned...I'm working with Zojoi, the original creators of Shadowgate/Uninvited/Deja Vu...I'll just say....something's about to be announced in a few weeks.
OOH! Another Uninvited throwback! One thing I love about Uninvited is how if you fuck up, they really go into depth about how you die. And they can be pretty snarky about it. Ignore the insistence that you shouldn't go down into the basement? Giant spider fangs crush you! Eat the wrong fruit? Rot away into dust! And it also teaches you valuable lessons, like don't play with knives you dummy! Of course, there's not much in this one, but just like From Beyond Prologue, what is shown makes me hopeful for the full release.
Uninvited (NES) Spider Death: 1st attempt to go down to the pit: "YOU REALLY DON'T WANT TO CLIMB DOWN THERE." "THERE IS A SPIDER DOWN THERE THAT'S BIGGER THAN A BREAD BOX." 2nd: "YOU REALLY DON'T WANT TO CLIMB DOWN THERE." "REALLY, THAT SPIDER IS BAD NEWS." "DON'T TRY TO GO DOWN THERE!!" 3rd: "YOU REALLY DON'T WANT TO CLIMB DOWN THERE." "THE SPIDER THAT'S DOWN THERE WOULD RIP YOU TO SHREDS." 4th: *DA NA NA! NA NA NA NA N- DA NA NA! 99% of comments: "this game was cool, i love the story!" Me:"HOW ON EARTH FOR GOD SAKES, DO YOU PUT YOUR HAND IN A TOILET LEFT UNFLUSHED FOR 50 YEARS JUST FOR A PILE OF HAIRS FROM THE 70s"!!?
I was a custodian at an elementary school for 7 years, I would NEVER put my hand down a urinal...even in a bathroom cleaned as well as someone like me was capable of. You couldn't PAY me enough!
I really like the developers of this game so I hope they make a lot of changes to the UI so the top right quadrant actually takes up the whole screen. 75% of the stuff on the screen isn't relevant (like having the inventory up all the time and the action buttons in the bottom right instead of hotkeys) for most of the gameplay and it detracts heavily from where the art direction is focused.
@@freezingcathedral I get it's supposed to be an NES style game but imo the overcommitance to adhering to the original console's style detracts from the gameplay experience
While I don't think they should change the game's UI because it is definitely inspired by the Kemco adventure games where the UI is always visible, I do think they need to increase the size of the fonts in the menu because there is a lot of wasted space in the menus that should be more legible. They could make the actual graphics in the box a little bit bigger too but that's nitpicking, but the size of the font should be increased.
I can ='t wait for the full version of the game to drop, Rhe closes thing that game reminds me of is maniac mansion The reason I bring this up is that it has the same look to it terms of look and style.
Also has a Lords of Doom vibe to it. Loved the music! Great understanding of how to create a sense of dread instead of tension: slow, steady baseline, a few dead notes and reverb! I would've shit my pants playing this as a kid!! :D Also, who says "they" when talking about their friend?! lol
@@enduser8410 They didn't include the top stroke of 「え」, making it appear as 「ス」. If I may nitpick further, all characters in the prompt are rendered in a way that is indicative of little to no Japanese language experience, due to poor compositional balance and no regard for tome/hane/harai.
Note: this game is being made by the creator of The Third Shift - an excellent Game Boy styled horror game I covered a couple of years ago. :)
Did he finnish it? The one you covered was a demo
Hi! The Third Shift is still in development. The dev's aiming to release the full game by the end of the year. :)
The Third Shift is a game I'd really like to have on my Switch.

When the music fades out in the crane room and she describes the air being stifling, that gave me genuine chills
This game is terrifyingly diverse like Capcoms Sweet Home , Univited and The Horror Of Salazar House . It’s animation is beautifully chilling.
But the options select is kinda uncomfortable, like they should remove other options if it's not available
Hey ABG, just wanted to pop in and say you're the best, thanks again for playing our game!
Hi Teebowah! I really love the game and how you designed so it doesn't beat you over the head with "oooo spooky!" and opt for letting the player fill in the blanks.
I sure do hope that this adventure is continued. I hope that they do not leave us hanging.
I am starting to enjoy games that put you in a haunted Japanese house that is filled with malevolent spirits.
"Hanging"
This was really good! I love how "pray" is a separate action too.
13:22 I think your thoughts and prayers check bounced...
Nice homage to Uninvited. Looking forward to seeing the finished game.
12:42 the spirit looks like it's bobbing to the tune

I knew you're gonna have a hard time when I saw the flies flying to form a forcefield.
what a great throwback! would love to see more of this one
I loved Uninvited! I bet everyone will like this one too.
That ghost is dancing along to the beat like a Peanuts character
Omfg lmao 🤣 If I'm gonna die to a malevolent spirit, I want to at least imagine this set to goofy Peanuts Christmas play music !

The game kinda reminds of me of old-school SNES games and the World of Horror game.

Flys *aight bet*
Go near garbage again

I love the young people Lol

nice game play my friend👍
What a beautiful game! The art style is flawless. 👌👌👌
Killed by flies... The first death of this game is absurd, Alex Kidd style

Haha the horror music with the flies and %spoil% is so good ! It remembers me some old school acid tekno from the 199x
Loved it. That was a great way to make a creepy macabre atmosphere and some decent jump scares with NES graphics.

I love how UA-cam marks this game as Shadowgate.
"I think I see a lump of hair down this repulsive, filthy toilet. I better shove my arm in there and grab it"
That was really good. I really hope they follow through with more. This was way too short and the only thing I could say negatively about it.

I really hope they make this into a Series.

Same cross-like fadeouts like the RESCUE Embassy Mission interiors on NES.
And Shadowgate/Deja Vu/Uninvited which this game is styled after, also Kemco games.

4:50 "いいス"
The game looks really cool, but I wish the developer would have done the bare minimum amount of research for its aesthetic/theming.
Is it the politeness level or the fact that they meant "ii-e" and not "i-su"?
Cmooon, it was an accident

The real horror story is the UI. Weird how the nameless "friend" is constantly referred to in the plural.
