Good review however those alloys are not called "Cardiff". They are the "Montevideo". Great looking car. Strange that the indicators were leds on the older model.
Great review Nobby - starting search for estate & this definitely grabs attention (likely Jan '22 buy). Few questions - driving A4 quattro saloon 190 bhp at moment (had standard A4 previously & VW CC saloon before that). Would you go for one of these over A4 Avant Quattro? If yes, assume R Line AWD 190bhp?
It's subjective but I think the VW is a little better looking. If people asking you why you didn't buy the Audi will annoy you, maybe buy the A4. ha! Both lovely, if it was an S-Line A4 Avant, that's also a bloody good looking car - maybe bring it down to spec and compared what you get in the VW over the Audi and then decide?
@@NobbyOnCars I'm inclined to agree - VW better looking...think, as per your mention, the overall package with VW is better. That would be comparison between A4 Avant S Line Quattro 190 (just matches what I have in saloon currently) & Shooting Brake R Line 190 AWD. I'd be importing on company's behalf too & VRT on A4 is looking like €15K+ which takes it into huge finished cost (will likely get NI garage to import from mainland & buy from them to dodge new VAT & customs). Threw it into VRT calc. there & it's suggesting €10,500 approx. for H/B version - there is no estate model there obviously - what do you reckon? I based on car as being a Sept. '20 reg & 6K miles.
Great review as always! Like the spec and looks, for me though if it was loaded up with 4 people it would need at least 190ps. 150ps ok for one person, but you buy a car like this to carry stuff and look cool. Drove an A4 Avant recently with 190ps tdi and felt just right 👌
Amazing mpg and a great review as ever. Last car I had that did close to that mpg was the 2002 1.5 diesel Clio I had. It managed 65mpg on the motorway. I don't think it'd be in my price bracket tho' despite that, despite VW very nearly killing diesel, that is an impressive car.
Better than an A6 Avant. There is a place for a Touring in 'designer clothing'. Pity about the shortcuts. eg. Indicators and phone charge. However probably fall in value like a rock. Excellent as always. Appreciated. Stay Safe.
Great review. Had a couple of VWs over the last 5 years, a Passat and then a well specd CC. The CC was a beautiful car but they both suffered with trim rattle in various places. Used to do my head in until I got used to it. Put me off sticking with VW when I changed car earlier this year.
Top notch review as always Nobby. I just wonder with the minor details (front halogen indicators, no wireless charging, etc.) have VW missed a trick here. I know the model has been out for a few years now but it’s something you would expect them to introduce in a facelift model. Your paying for a car that has not got the latest details. Just my two cents!
There is an optional wireless charging mat. It is fitted under the sliding cover under the heating controls although it is a bit fiddly with larger phones.
Cant understand why they changed the front indicators from LED to halogen. The last model had the wireless charger but couldn't even fit a Nokia 3210. Had 1 for 2 years but not a patch on the A6 interior wise. Love the review though.
Such a shame the lift-back doesn't have sufficient rear head room for use as a limo, because it's shape is more suited for chauffeuring than the estate. Also a shame there isn't a VW or Audi version of the Superb lift-back. (the Superb lacks refinement IMHO - I definitely notice an improvement with the Passat in this regard)
Sadly disappointed that we Americans don't have an opportunity to own the Arteon "Shooting brake." As a former owner of Saab and Volvo wagons I miss the fact that mainstream versions have virtually disappeared from our market.
Good review, really impressed with the Arterton and if BMW didn't offer me such a good deal on a 440i ts was next choice. At that level I would miss the six cylinder and eight speed ZF.Not many have bought it,so a shrewd buy in a few years mind.
Bulb indicators ??? The wheels look like they came from a Korean car maker. VW Passat dashboard and interior For that against others will it sell. VW not moving forward on this car.
What an ugly mess of a car ! I much prefer the clean lines of my 2010 Honda Accord tourer , similar styling in a way , not an outright loadlugger just a very practical everyday car , without all the awkward lines and chintz of the Volkswagen. Yes I have had a good look around one in the metal !
I'm not a VAG fan but got to say this is a very nice looking car. Shooting brake cars look so cool. Good review as always.
Here in Germany we have LED indicators and also the latest infotainment (bigger screen)

Have you looked at the price of similar A6? May not be much in it.

Georgious looking "estate"
Can’t just call them an estate anymore ☺️
I must have been out of the country too long, Shooting Brake/Break? I thought we called them Estates. Good Review, thanks!
Welcome back 🤣

Don’t we all find ourselves having a bigger boot when we’ve reached our midlife crisis or mid-cycle refresh?
Nice car, but all I could think of was, it's so dark in there! Panoramic roof is a must!

Nothing worse. What did you change to?
@@NobbyOnCars 520D M Sport. Mid life crisis! Loving it so far.
Can’t go wrong with one

I think the design of the centre console and sliding cover in particular is just too small an area for one.
@@NobbyOnCars Fair point

Thanks Ron
Oh that's nice looking

Excellent review. Great car but a bit pricey.. I would probably go for a Mercedes E class estate for the few grand extra

Yes I agree on the roof, the good looks come at a price. Have the saloon PHEV waiting to be edited and uploaded
A lovely car just Such a pity about the price tag

Surprised at that decision alright. So many US movies growing up, the dad always had an estate!

There was me thinking car had a faulty braking system. Nice but too much 💰 for not enough glam
Can you review the new Octavia RS?
Have it end of March 👍🏻
@@NobbyOnCars nice one 😜👍🏻

I like the wheels but the bulb decision is odd
Just get a Superb Sportline estate - get all the room and tech but save yourself $$$
Not nearly a patch on it looks wise imho. Just get a ex demo to save a few €!
I love the Superb but looks and interior, this has the edge.

Definitely subjective as I think it's gorgeous and I think modern Hondas are horrible. 🙂
@@NedNew totally agree about modern Hondas
