- Welcome to Vlogmas 2023! I'm taking you along with me each day through December 25th. This year we are traveling full-time in our van! December is going to keep us in Florida, but there will be loads of interesting places that we see and of course knitting, crochet, Disney, and lots of Toaster! New videos drop every day at 8:00 AM Eastern. This year I'm filming three days ahead to allow time for editing (especially with spotty internet while we travel). Enjoy! #vlogmas #vlogmas2023

The twelve days of xmas is actually AFTER the 25th! SO its technically different than an advent. It marks the time it took for the 3 wise men (or los reyes magos) to travel to Bethlehem after Jesus' birth. Even though I grew up catholic I didn't know much about the time leading up to this celebration (known as the Epiphany on Jan 6th). Its widely celebrated in Mexico though. Since celebrations around the world is a first grade social studies standard and I was 1st grade Spanish teacher for many years I had to learn a lot about it. :) Looking forward to the vlogmas season!!!
Puerto RIco celebrates this as well, known as Three Kings Day and it is bigger than Christmas Day on the island.
I know some Americans in Russia and they say that the 6th of January is when they celebrate Christmas... and open their gifts... It makes me all warm and cozy thinking about a large group of people are opening gifts on my birthday...

@@sljepson4082 yes, my kids are from Russia. We adopted them in 2004, not related to each other. I learned about different Russian holidays. New Years Day is also celebrated, because of the Soviet views of no religion. It was very tough, but we actually found 2 Christmas stockings for the kids. They are blue with beautiful embroidery of a bird, Russian Orthodox Church, snow & evergreens. Russians don’t do Christmas stockings!

The 12 days of Christmas are the days between Christmas and Epiphany which is January 6th. (also my birthday) Until I started watching you, I have never heard of this type of Advent Calendars. You mentioned in this video that you have to order them in the Spring. If you have a video that explains how, where, when to acquire these.... I would like to plan ahead for next year. I did not realize I was missing such a festive thing.... Especially since my birthday that is on the 12th day of Christmas. Thank you for introducing such interesting yarn, content, and yarning opportunities.

This is my very first year of catching all my favorite yarnie UA-camrs doing their advents and I'm super excited. I'm also wishing that I had an advent of my own to experience (maybe next year! Lol!).

I have heard of some people opening 12 day advents every 2nd day but I think the 12 days before Christmas is also common too. I'm so excited for all of your advent unwrapping!!

Natalie, 10 advent calendars is CRAY CRAY. The only one I also bought was Twice Sheared Sheep. I opened all of them in November, but I won't tell. :)
I love seeing all the Advents! It’s so fun to watch you open so many. One year I will get an Advent. (Also, the Easter grass, my little one named “Christmas cheese” and it’s forever called Christmas cheese in our house. And of course we also refer to shredded cheese as Christmas cheese 😂 🎄🎁🧀

*I am an avid needle stop user, but I don't use progress keepers or the cute stitch markers; just jump rings and ordinary place markers.
The bag is a play on Bloomingdales little brown bag I really wish I got that calendar I used to work at Bloomingdales and love that is bloomies and yarn at the same time brings back memories

12 days of Christmas starts on Christmas day on goes thru Epiphany. This is the traditional (church) Christmas season. December is the season of Advent which is focused on getting ready for the birth of Jesus.
I can already tell this will be a great Vlogmas! Loving the edits on the video too, so much fun.
Btw there are flameless candles available too, though probably not scented.
The 12 days of Christmas are actually Dec 25th through Jan 5th. With a feast on epiphany, Saint distaff day is Jan 7th. When spinning may resume, men's and other chores are also "relaxed" during this time

The 12 days of Christmas begin on Dec 36th. Basically, the wise men see the star on Dec 25th, and it takes 12 days for them to arrive. It's also why Jan 6th is Three Kings Day.

Due to time zone differences for us at the bottom of the Pacific I'm almost always at least a day ahead so this morning its 2nd Dec and I woke up to many day 1 vlogmas's and day 1's clue on my advent gnome. I too like the comments from Kent. Is Toaster going get a vlogmas video this year.
Love it! Having advent envy, but I did exchange minis with friends for a scrappy project. We do throw all of our wrappings in the middle on Christmas morning and call it "glee debris." And my husband is the "glee debris" clean-up police when all of us 'children' are done making a mess. Happy advent to you and Kent and Toaster.
How do you find these advents? I looked everywhere and couldn't find any online. That's some cool stuff!!

I am also not a needle stopper user… but I need to be after the chaos I had the other day getting up in the dark and dragging my project off the bed and through my room with me, dropping a ton of stitches.

edit: Regarding the stitch marker from Homespun House, where I live, it's not Santa bringing the gifts but the Child Christ. Maybe that is what it is supposed to be?
