    Currently in the process of getting back into the sport. I just remembered this channel from back when I first subbed in 2017 and now I'm basically binging your stuff. I'm sure some people can watch this video and simply listen to what you say and move on, but I just really wanted to say I appreciate the TON of work you put into your vids. The editing, camera shots, shot setup, script (if you have one, I'm not sure), are all done super well. Very easy and enjoyable to watch + understand. Keep up the great content!

    when i first got my Mini in 2008 i was amazed by the accuracy it had with cheap paint. but after one trip to the field, and watching my marker turn into a shotgun after the paint broke inside the barrel making the gun useless, ive since only used middle/high grade paintballs.

Now I got a $1600 gun and get the best paintballs (just bought everything about a week ago). I'm getting back into the sport... I can't wait! Now I just need to find a Paintball course to play at. If you figure you only get so much time per day, per match, etc. it’s totally worth it to upgrade to the 50-70$ range of paint. There’s nothing more frustrating than watching balls bounce off someone you really want out; which could also cost you the game.
    Secondly, if you practice accuracy like you should, nailing three to four shots on your target with an ultra bright paint instead of wasting 20 rounds of cheap paint where one might break is still saving you money. You’ll spend more initially, but more will break and end up lasting longer since you’ll be shooting less.
    Personal choice: Valken Redemption Pro. Hasn’t failed me once and had a lovely yellow/green fill.

  • @ashravenpb
    @ashravenpb 4 роки тому +4

    Your bounce test is on par for infinity. You have to throw it pretty hard at a flat hard surface to get it to break which kinda sucks since its some of the more accurate field grade paint in that $45 price range. Good for woodsball since you can shoot through thick brush but I wouldn't recommend it (or any other field grade paint) for rec or speedball. I also never saw any above .684 (usually .682 or smaller) so it fitting perfectly in a .687 is a little strange. Good video about something I have to answer almost every weekend

    Also depends how its been stored. You store and treat cheap paint well, that will be better than porly stored and transported tourny paint. If your playing woods big games then lean more towards the cheap paint as it "may" get thru leaves etc better.

  • @JamesSmith-gk8sz
    @JamesSmith-gk8sz 3 роки тому +1

    Difference comes down to three things (generally) that I've seen in my years of paintball:
    1.) *Fragility of casing* There's a reason the 6' ft drop test exists, and it's to test this characteristic exactly. You could probably fire off 50 rounds of Spyder Premium and have half the batch bounce off a while. There's nothing more frustrating than watching a dozen rounds ricochet off an opponent and then get taggged yourself in the ensuing gunfight.
    2.) *Fill* Off brand, white box paint usually has odd colors (blue, white, green) that are easy to wipe off and has a lower viscosity in regards to thickness. High end paint has bright, neon fill (pink, orange, yellow) that has a much thicker PEG and is hard to wipe.
    3.) *Reviews* Yes, believe it or not, online or in store reviews are worth there weight in gold. It's why brands like Valken, Empire, and Evil dominate the paintball market. If a thousand people all five star a brand of paint; there's probably a reason. If a thousand people one star a brand of paint....there's PROBABLY A REASON. Can't tell you how many times someone boasted about buying two cases of cheaper paint to my single case of expensive paint, and proceeded to spend the day bouncing shots and endlessly cleaning out their barrel from breakages.
    All that being said, the best all around paint I use (live in San Diego, CA) is Valken Graffiti. Retails at roughly $70 a case and comes in all neon color palettes. *Caveat* being I buy them from a store, in person, and NEVER have them shipped to me. Have had (no bs) one ball break out of the last 6 cases and zero bounces. Stellar paint, if not pricey.

      It's likely all made on similar machines but the expensive stuff has a higher rejection rate for bad / non uniform balls. Between the exra quality check and tossing 10% that bumps up cost. Lower uniformity balls can probably be run faster on the machine vs the expensive ones.

      hey! i hope you had it figured out two months later lol. if you’re asking for paint advice, we’ll honestly just start out with whatever is sold at the parks :) with the rentals. once you start moving up then when you buy your weapon you can always snoop around the paint sold and either ask for which is recommended or just find quality over price, or price over quality if your just looking to have some fun not really “tournament” level fun. as for how you should go about getting your foot in. well i actually started rental, then found myself buying everything else but my first marker lol. so i had everything but would still rent out an upgraded marker. then eventually i bought my marker. honestly the first purchases you really need is a good mask. don’t use those rental ones. look into the Dye i5s personal favorite :) but to each their own

      Unfortunately lots of distributors would lose their entire business over product losses. People won't buy old paint if they have a choice. Too much product sits and would be lost profit. Only way to stay in business is to let it sit until sold. I do wish that there were an option to be able to order paint fresh off the factory supply truck.

    • @MrMalicious5
      @MrMalicious5 4 роки тому

      @@stevenbiedrzycki7046 Not only that, but paint being "old" is deceptive and doesn't necessarily make it bad if it's stored decently. I've had paint sit for months and months and it shot better than "fresh" paint.

      @@MrMalicious5 yeah but let's look at paint we'll be seeing more of in the upcoming weeks. Glow in the dark zombie paint. That stuff is made in one batch. And sits until it sells out. That can be 6 months or 3 years. That paint sits in one spot in a climate controlled warehouse growing dimples and settling pigment to one side of the ball. That's terrible. We wanted to set up our local field for galaxy paintball. With blacklights and music. But we couldn't get fresh paint unless we ordered enough SKIDS to make it worth GI's time. Otherwise we deal with dimpled paint that has the pigment cemented to one side that hooks at 90° five feet out of the barrel.

    • @Schwaigert
      @Schwaigert 4 роки тому +1

      Hey Tech,
      I'm 6'1 so I can speak on the tall side. If I'm running forward I keep my torso bent forward like Olympic sprinters do off of their start gate, this keeps my momentum forward incase I need to dive, I am now not as tall as I am if I were running straight up, and it allows me to scan everything ahead of me as I get to my bunker. If I'm playing in the back and need to fill either way to the side, I make sure I put in whatever can stop me and run and gun to the next bunker with full conviction and without hesitation. Once I get close to the bunker, I do what I would call a baseball slide, but more of where the guy on first is leading off the box and then the pitcher throws the ball to first so the runner does this fast sideways slide, if you understand what I'm saying. I noticed that most of the times when I hesitate when moving is when I get shot. During your practice, or if you just play for fun. Try practicing getting bunker to bunker as fast as you can and as low as you can (without sacrificing speed or balance) and see how that works for you. Hope this helped

      Before purchasing a paintball marker I highly suggest to get a mask firstif you haven't done so. Any mask on $60 to $100 for beginner or budget is a great start. I would suggest to check out Tippman Cronus. I hope this help.

    I have a Freak Barrel question. I have a spyder freak barrel kit but a Mini GS which is obviously Autococker threaded. I bought the barrel converter (spyder to ac) instead of a new ac back but I feel like the gap from the converter is hurting my accuarcy since the insert does not sit flush. Can you confirm the converters do hurt accuracy and let me know if I should break down and just buy the AC back. TY.

    • @ashravenpb
      @ashravenpb 4 роки тому +1

      it shouldn't have much of an affect accuracy wise but I try to avoid barrel adapters because the ball has to go through the adapter, which has a large bore, into the smaller bore of the barrel. If the barrel isn't chamfered then theres a higher chance of breaking paint. AC backs can be found on ebay for $35-$40 so it wouldn't be a bad idea to get one

    • @MrBottlecapBill
      @MrBottlecapBill 4 роки тому

      @@ashravenpb Exactly if the adapter has a larger bore than the barrel you're shooting into, there can be issues. Less so if the barrel has a larger bore than the adapter. Not to mention if the threads of the adapter are less than perfectly square and centered properly to keep the freak insert flush there can be serious issues. Sounds silly but I've seen it happen with a few adapters over the years. In your case I would see if you actually have any issues first. If not then run with it. If so then buy a proper back.

    Except the fact that paint ball your paying $40 for like 250 rounds and airsoft you can get like 1500 for like $5-$10 just saying the only expensive part is sometimes the fields if they're really high maintenance and quality and your gun thats it plus its more realistic and can have the potential to teach you how to handle a firearm or learn to clear a room for like police or military training endless possibilities. But thats just my opinion you have yours and whatever sport or hobby you like stick with it and have fun.

  • @anarchyamp

    My .02
    No. I don't think more expensive paint is worth it. In the grand scheme of things when your slinging hundreds of rounds out on the field, I doubt most would even notice how a $30 case shoots versus an $80 case. That being said, I don't play serious tournaments, only rec so I don't care lol but if I did play tourny ball, I'd spend a little more

    • @coreyholmes2229
      @coreyholmes2229 4 роки тому

      Has to do with turbulent flow vs laminar flow and boundary layer around the ball. Easiest explanation is that’s why golf balls are dimpled and not smooth spheres. Google why golf balls have dimples. Pretty interesting!
