Thanks for great video. You are so right, most videos skip right past the removal of the speaker and don't talk about what a PIA it can be to remove. I'm about to do my 97 TJ speakers and I'm glad I watched your video. I swear, I watch some of the videos and the job looks so easy but they skip all the details and by the time I do the job I'm cussing and throwing tools. Great job!
i gotta a question so i’ve been looking all over for speaker wire adapters and i have a 01 but the don’t sell any adapters for models under 02. so how did u do ur speakers
@@drewcompton279 I don't remember all of the details but I used Crutchfield and they had everything I needed including universal adapters. That was the easiest part as they plugged right in.
Just bought an 04 wrangler sport 2.5 4x4 with 97k miles for 6k! 4 in lift, XD bead locks, etc. I’ve owned a 4.0l and honestly prefer the 4 banger ! It’s an amazing rig! And your video is highly helpful 🤙🏼
@@stairman3151 the only moron here is yourself. Honestly I couldn’t give a fuck less about your keyboard warrior skills. 4.0 is a great application. So is the 4 banger. Someone clearly made the mistake on fucking your mother and sadly you were born. Waste of Oxygen IMO. And at the end of the day. It’s my opinion, not yours.
The speakers that you pulled out are probably a better speaker than the cheap shit, heavy magnet tells the truth, thank for the video, now I know what speakers not to purchase.
Really the difference is negligible. They sound a little clearer, the bass is very slightly better but I have to turn them up more than the factory speakers to get the same volume. However I'm using the factory deck so they might sound better with an aftermarket one.
U sound just like me most videos skip the important part leaving you trying to figure it out on ur own..thanks for the tip and the speaker choice I forgot about the boss set up. I had a boss head unit in my last jeep along with the 4 cylinder 🤮🤮 just picked up an 04 Columbia edition yesterday with 30k org miles the one issue is a popping speaker will ne ordering those speakers now..tnx!
What kind of screws did you use to install the speakers? I’m working on a friends Jeep and can’t find what type of screws were used because they lost some.
It’s hard to say. Before buying anything take a known good speaker from the other side and switch it for the bad speaker. If it works then you know the speaker is bad. If not then you have other issues.
@@jeep2.418 thanks man, after researching more on it I guess they changed the design in 2004. I believe the one I need is the 72-6512 model. Thank you so much!

Viewing this video I've bought the wiring adapter metro 72 indicated in link you mentioned, but there's no compatibility for wrangler TJ 97 european version. So I loose my money.
Your stock speakers are paper, so you thought it would be a great idea to replace them with boss audio speakers 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. $20 and they will sound like $20 speakers.
Nothing better than a British man cursing while he fixes his car.

this was presented in the best way possible, thank you
More vidoes please! Just picked up a 2.4 as well and it's been a unique experience!
I’ve been slacking. I’m planning to do more 😄. Thanks for your comment. Congrats on the purchase.

Congrats on your new rig! Glad you found the video helpful.
Keep trying to convince yourself that a four-banger is better than a 6 cylinder. What a freaking moron

Excellent tutorial. Thank you. But I wonder - how much better did it sound?
Thank you. It didn’t sound better 😅. I’ve replaced them with Polks which make a big difference.
Thhhaaannnkkkkk yooouuu I was thinking the same thing when I was looking at mine its the only reason I came to UA-cam
Dude, loved the video so helpful! Also you are hilarious because I know I will be cursing just as much as you when I do mine this weekend. lol

I have a set of those boss speakers in my ZJ and they do great. I'm thinking about installing them in my TJ. How much better do they sound over stock.

Very realistic vid. Thank you! I hv a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee and while I adore my car the speakers are shottttt.
Appreciate it, thanks! Good luck with your upgrade!
Do you have a link for the adapter? That link in your description isn’t working anymore

I used the original screws that held in the OEM speaker.
We repair stuff the same way. Loudly. Haha.
Which one is positive ?
For the speakers I purchased the fatter prong was positive and the thinner one was negative. It was labeled on there too.
Good
One of my speakers isn’t working do u think replacing them will fix that

Did the wiring harness work well for the speakers? Idk why Amazon and Best Buy say it’s not compatible.
They worked for me. But I was installing on a 2006. Pre 2003 might be different.

Do you know if it’s the same adapter for the front speakers as well?
For my Jeep which is an 06 SE it was the same adapter. I did upgrade the front speakers to 5.25s as well though.
I laughed my ass off watching this. I’m going to be doing the same thing.
I've got the same brand but they are 4.7 for the door of my Chevy cavalier and and they sound like crap like they are blown

99.9 % of the time positive on a speaker is on the "right" side when looking straight on it,,meaning looking at it the tabs on bottom
