I truly appreciate the clarity with which you express your openness to and interest in such a wide range of voices. And thank you for having brought Reading While Black to your viewers' attention! Based on your review, I read that book with a friend with whom I read books, and our lunch discussions of Reading While Black were great - as was the book.

"We should be listening to voices outside our bubble... we are siblings in Christ..." love that you took the time to review and glad that you are putting this on your shelf. Ordering a copy of this, I hope to see other publishers create more resources like this. Our world is getting smaller and our we're all on a trajectory where our ethnic and geographic boundaries are going to be enmeshed even more so, that's the beauty of the world Creator has for us. May we all live in harmony knowing that all our stories carry unique qualities that we can all use to better reflect the Kingdom of Grace and Love.

My first recollection of hearing the term Turtle Island is in connection with a copy of the First Nation Version of the New Testament. This particular translation is in a different style to those found in the other translations and paraphrases in my personal library.

Can you look into the bible mandela effect and comment on bible verses being changed and what do you remember those verses being? Worried that it could be what God meant when he talks about end time delusion being so great that even the elect would be deceived in Revelation. And that there will be a famine not of food or water, but of the word of God, because the bible has been supernaturally changed and only those who have it in their hearts will know the word of God. Would appreciate your input on this! ❤

@@Kelly-vn5eo no, there is no such thing happening with Scripture. Someone would have to "change" TENS OF THOUSANDS of biblical manuscripts all at the same time, which is physically impossible. There is ZERO reason to believe such nonsensical conspiracy theories about the Bible.

@@DiscipleDojo Thank you for sharing your input. Scientifically, it's not an impossibility unfortunately. Through wormholes which can create a tear in the fabric of time and space and also quantum physics. If this ends up being wrong, and I do wish it were so as well, it would have just prompted us to memorize a bunch of scriptures, which ends up being a good thing.
Test it out yourself if you are familiar with the KJV, currently it seems to predominantly affect KJV the most, other translations are also affected to a lesser degree.
Isaiah 11:6: The ____ also shall dwell with the lamb.
Current: The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb.
What people remember: The lion also shall dwell with the lamb.

Current: Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
What people remember: Thy kingdom come, They will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

What people remember: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall crush thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
There are warnings about this in the bible in Daniel 7:25 where the saints will be wear out and times and laws will be changed, along with Amos 8:11-12 where it says “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it."

@@Kelly-vn5eo most Mandela effects are disproved as an error in memory coding. Like people who think cheeze it were cheeze its are mixing up coding in their LTM from cheese nips and cheeze it, adding the Z. Jif peanut butter and jify powdered mixtures etc... For your instance in Isaiah, it is probably a human error in memory coding of mentions of the lion and the wolf. Our brains are far more fallible than the word of scripture.
Science is also very fallible and I fear by you putting more faith in Science than scripture is a major symptom our society faces now.
AT MOST science is a language man uses to explain the natural world. MAN uses it, MAN creates the understanding of it. There is no such thing as a pure scientist, all scientists are human, and thus fallible.
Something we must all understand in western society is we have all been indoctrinated into thinking science is the ultimate objective truth, which it most certainly is not. If anything science is the deception that uses very good sounding part truths to make more people than ever reject religion and turn to science as the new master. It is evident everywhere that atheists find science as a replacement for religion. This is such a major error because it takes putting faith in something greater than the self and mankind, right back into the hands of the self and mankind. It is our ego that wants us to believe more in science because we do not need faith to understand science. Picking science over religion is rejecting faith and taking the shortcut to finding "truth". You need only ask yourself how many times has science changed "truth" and how many times has scripture changed "truth" over centuries? and how arrogant it is to believe OUR science NOW is THE science that is right.
On indoctrination- our school systems have all been told to remove religion as we are a country with "freedom of religion" and "separation of church and state "which was created to escape religious persecution of the roman orthodox catholic church, NOT to promote pluralism of ALL the worlds religions, but that is the context for which politicians use it now because it gains them votes. Thus it has been instituted in the school system to NOT offend people by ever talking about Christianity. and the indoctrination begins here. Teachers then take science as the replacement for eveything religion and from the time we enter kindergarten to the time we graduate college we are indoctrinated into the thought that science is correct, religion is fallible and obsolete. Everything about it is backwards, corrupt, and self serving.
Atheists think religious people are brainwashed, and they chose atheism out of doubt, fear, selfishness, and nothingness. In reality Religious people are the ones strong enough to reject the brainwashing because they chose faith, light, serving others, and hope.

no one is a perfect Christian except Jesus. Our ultimate goal is to reach as many people as possible and LEARN how to truly reach them to teach them the word and turn away from darkness and doubt and into light, hope and faith. If we never read others perspectives we are doomed to repeat history for more cycles rather than escape the cycles of the past.
Really ask yourself how do we unite the whole world of people under the teaching of Jesus? The only way I can think of is through understanding of how to reach them on their level and walk with them on the path to Jesus. It won't always be the path we took, nor will it be the starting point from which we like. Jesus and the disciples reached out to the criminals, prostitutes, lepers, liars, and thieves to draw them closer to Jesus. How are we ever to reach people if we can not understand them and meet them where they are at?
I think @DiscipleDojo is doing a great job of stating SCRIPTURE is unchanging and we ought not change its interpretation for the specific reader. It and the teachings and word are unchanging, it is people who come from every direction on earth and of man who we must LEAD to scripture, and that is the challenge.

I do NOT like leftist ideology one bit, but if people are turning to darkness and choosing the self and the path of wickedness and sin, is that not who we need to learn how to reach the most? We are not to shun them and see them as hopeless if we ever want to have victory on earth. Through self reflection I have come to realize most of the negative emotions I have towards leftists is that it is MOST challenging to reach them, but those are the people the scripture teaches we need to reach the most. How are we supposed to do that if we reject ways in which we can learn from where they come from and make a bridge and connection to meet them where they are at and draw them to the unchanging word of god that is in scripture?

I can see how you can make this comment. I have listened to Esau M and some of his conversation made me uncomfortable - like Black Liberation Theology, I think. While I appreciate that everyone comes to scripture with their baggage & perspective, and we can be aware of this… shouldn’t we seek to uncover original authorial intent, learn basic biblical hermeneutics as we interpret? what does that have to do with the amount of melanin in our skin or our individual experience? Seems a bit narcissistic 🤷🏾‍♀️. I don’t know - just thinking out loud….

    • @ladygem
      @ladygem 5 місяців тому +2

Two things can be right at the same time. Reading scripture in its context has its place; but also what makes the Bible still relevant after thousands of years is because we can all still relate to in our modern culture. The stories never gets old- that’s the power of the Bible. And what is so wrong in learning how other cultures read the same verses and interpret them?? It’s what the early Christians did…hence why Jews interpreted and still do one way and Christians do another. We see ourselves in the stories. Much love!!

@@ladygem It's the Holy Bible not "your Bible". Any different interpretation of scripture is a false gospel. However Gnostics had their gospels too. They were based on what seemed logical and good in a human sense. Whenever scripture is rationalized it has the devil's fingerprints on it no matter how much it makes you feel good.
