    KPIE is where I got my Private Pilot license back in 1984. My call sign was Delco 15. My best day was when I did my first solo and proudest day when I flew to LakeLand and got my license.

    Awesome flight and can't beat a flyby with a Navy P-8. On a future trip to the Jacksonville area, please land at Cecil Field (VQQ) for me! Navy brat that grew up at NAS Cecil Field in the 1990s and haven't been back since. Would be so awesome to not only see how the old base looks these days, but to watch the TBM land there too.

    Wow, beautiful views! I'm all the way up in Ohio but have family in the Tampa/Clearwater and St.Pete area, and was surprised to see honeymoon island from the air. I've got great memories of some of the last vacationing with my late mother on the beaches there on honeymoon island.
    Clearwater definitely has the whitest sand I've ever seen!

    Thanks Steveo for another fun flight ✈️. Those of you looking for a career change to aviation, go for it! I got sick in my 20’s with a chronic illness that stopped my commercial aspiration but I was able maintain a 3rd class medical and fly as a private pilot for many years. So don’t miss out like me, if you can and want to, follow your passion.

    This seems to be a hot topic among a lot of the flight channels I have been following. With a global shortage of pilots it seems now is a great time for people who have wanted to pursue this dream to finally step up. I know Im one of them! Thing is, for many of us we're getting in to our late 30s and 40s and have families as well as established careers, so the thought of change can be intimidating. As someone who hopes to start training next year, Im greatful that a lot of these social media personalities, that are proffesional pilots, are reaching out to people like me. Thanks Stevo!

    I really like to watch Steveo's videos, Calm, relax, enjoy the flights, Sometimes making a joke. A real episode story. Also, He is not showing how best he is or saying how tough today, how much money he earned. He just sharing what he knows about the knowledge and introduction he knows this area, A huge area in the earth, how many aircrafts takeoff and landing in the sec. All of them have totally different flight experiences and stories. I think that's why I pretty enjoy watching his flights, To listen to how he enjoys the flight. Never too late, hm...I am still confused but I hope so.

      There is a Master for avionics. The rest need to be able to be isolated individually if there's a malfunction, at least in the planes I've flown.

      It's the same as many planes, a main power switch that turns on power to lights and avionics, a switch to start spooling up the engine and start the ignition, and the throttle to actually introduce fuel once it's spun up sufficiently.
      It's mostly monitoring the engine start to make sure it keeps accelerating and doesn't HANG , and to make sure it doesn't overheat.

    How do you go about finding a job or company like the one you work for that's willing to take a new pilot or an aspiring pilot under their wing? Do you have to bite the bullet and spend the money and time to get your certifications... or do companies take in young pilots and mentor/train/make training more accessible in return for workplace contracts/ job fulfillment? I never thought a career flying would be possible due to the financial burden up front, but I love flying and flew regularly with my Dad when I was younger in his Comanche

    Excellent video! I’m 58 and recently got back in the air. I was a flight instructor 89-91, flew cargo in the 90’s in DC-3’s and EMB 110, left the industry in 2002 and got into financial services to support a growing family. Well, kids are grown now and its time for this dad to have some fun once again. I never finished my CFII so I’m doing that now and planning to do more advanced instruction along with any FAR Part 91 or even 135 work that presents itself. I would certainly like to be flying something as nice as the TBM.

      Thats a untrue statement. I suspect the b17 crash had everything to do with the age of the pilots. As i have said people like you dont know when to stop flying and wont unless you either die flying or are forced to stop flying.. It's the same thing you see with people in their 70's still driving when they shouldnt be. It appears they feathered the wrong prop on engine #4 when it was number #3 engine that wasn't working properly and then they also made a simple mistake of turning right when it was the right side engine failure and feathered #4.. You should be doing the right thing and stop flying because you wont until your forced to or kill yourself and others.... I am late 50's and my decision making has been effecting because of age and i have slowed down. If you love your family as much as you love flying you would stop flying..

    • @mre706
      @mre706 5 років тому +31

      @@FlatEarthReset You have no clue what you're talking about. Age has nothing to do with it. It comes down to the pilot. My flight instructor back in '89 was 80 when he signed me off. He was sharp as a tack and I learned more from him in the last 15 hours than I did the first several dozen with my first CFI. You mean to tell us that you don't think Capt. Sully at 68 should be flying? Ridiculous.

Another words if the right engine is out turning to the right on a multi engine plane is ok??? Thats what those almost 80 year old b17 pilots did. And then it appears they feather the wrong engine because in the photos engine 4 was feather engine 3 was the failed engine.. So thats two engines not producing on the right side Sounds like you dont know what your talking about! And on top of that they made a short right turn to final at 500 feet

    Thanks for putting that out there for everyone, Steveo. I'll be frank. I've got some age. As I'm no longer inclined to do the regional or legacy route, the reminder to all that pilots can STILL Part 91 as long as they have their medical needs to be reminded to a lot of people. . .ok, not necessarily "reminded" but also "educated" on the fact flying past 65 is STILL available with the medical. Flight instructing is always available; aviation support opportunities never end either. Keep flying; keep motivating.

    The view of the solid cloud layer below never ceases to thrill. We flew over the Smokies this morning and the clouds were settled between the peaks. What a view. Great video Stevo. 'Liked the fade in and out of the soundtrack.

    Hey love when I see you come out with a video. Keep up the great work!
    Would love to be on a charter flight with you someday, youre able to explain so much and dumb it down enough for us non-pilots that wish to fly someday to understand.

    Nicely done Steve... you are correct. Never too old. After I spoke with you in 2018 I made the decision at age 48 to make the change after being a Church Executive for 20+ years. As you know I earned my CFI in December 2018 and have been flying as a Contract Corporate Pilot since February 2019. I've logged right at 330 hours this year in CJ's, Citations, Barons, and a couple of hours in a B200 King Air. Looking forward to the days ahead, for sure. Hopefully there will be some TBM time in my near future. Thanks for the push. Kerry (@kerrymackey)

    I am turning 40 this year in August. I am too old now to go professional but i do hope to get a chance again to get my PPL at least. Back in 2017 i went to do the ground school, passed 8 out of 9 exams, failed the last exam (Navigation) because i was to slow with math and plotters and the E6B, and so i decided to quit. My confidence was crushed and i quit chasing what now seems like a pipe dream, sticking to my FSX and X-Plane sims. But this bug will never go away and if stars ever line up again for me, i think i would try and give it a shot one last time. Right now my hands are full with two small kids and work commitments so i guess the sims will have to do for now. At least there are channels like this to whet my appetite, i am super thankful to @steveo1kinevo for doing such great work and sharing all his beautiful aerial exploits with us. Godspeed.

    Steveo, the key with the bridge/causeway leading out to it that you referred to and said it had a nice beach, is Honeymoon Island. It is a beautiful state park. The "bridge" is Dunedin Causeway.

    The Navy plane is a Boeing P-8 Poseidon. Basically a "737-800ERX." It's the replacement for the P-3 Orion which was a 4-engine Turboprop. By the way, love your video's! I want to get my private up to IFR. My dad was a Navy Fighter Pilot, kind of in the blood. Just want to be able to travel and see family...but I need a larger plane since I have 5 myself to fly around. HA! Thanks for the videos!

    12:40 That's a P-8 Poseidon Submarine Hunter, basically a pimped out 737-800ERX. They come out here (Gulfport Ms) once or twice every couple of weeks and do touch and go's all day long.

    It kills me all the 20 something and 30 somethings wondering if its too late to change careers. NO, you've got a lot of life ahead of you. And, there are a lot of people in their 40s and 50s making the career change to aviation, myself included.

    Hey Steve,
    When you see a plane next to you like that military plane, Aren't they supposed to be on your frequency? Couldn't you just call them and ask what they are flying?

    • @WillBorgers
      @WillBorgers 5 років тому +4

      Jay, military pilots do not talk to the same air traffic control that we do most of the time, they're generally talking to the military ATC. Their flight plans are conveyed to civilian ATC just so everyone knows their intentions, and they may switch over and check in, but in my experience in SoCal, they have their own deal. Also, there are sectors and transitions that you may have crossed that he hasn't yet, or he may be simply flying in another sector talking with another controller. In class G & E airspace flying VFR, you also do not need to be on communications with anyone, you can literally turn your radio off and fly around if you're not on a flight plan or with flight following. So that's the long answer here, but no, you wont always be on the same freq.

    • @TheSchanen51
      @TheSchanen51 5 років тому +6

      @@WillBorgers not exactly. They communicate with civil air traffic controllers all the time. They're communicating (most of the time) on UHF frequencies, where most civil aircraft are communicating on VHF frequencies, hence why civil aircraft can't hear the communication between ATC and military aircraft. While you are right, the military does have air traffic controllers, as far as I know it mostly concerns terminal area traffic and military operation areas. However, the area between the airport environment and whatever MOA they are en route to is, 9 times out of 10, controlled by civil air traffic controllers.

    • @WillBorgers
      @WillBorgers 5 років тому +2

      @@TheSchanen51 This makes sense, I know I never hear them on the VHF when i'm flying around, but didn't know they were actually on with the same controllers I am because I do hear the CG and others check in every once in a while when flying in and out of or transitioning the SBA charlie. Either way, the answer to why can't he just ask them where they're going is, they're generally not on the same freq.

    • @sb859
      @sb859 5 років тому +2

      Civil aviation uses VHF freqs (100 series, aka 135.75), and military uses UHF (200 series and up, aka 265.6). Civil ATC controls 90 percent of all aviation, and they (ATC) can hear both VHF and UHF. In a civil airplane, you may hear ATC talk to the Mil guys, because ATC transmissions are simulcast over both VHF and UHF, but civil planes will not hear the Mil guys respond to ATC on UHF.

    Hey Steve-o, as an expert in U.S. military aircraft I can with 110% certainty say that that aircraft off your left wing is indeed a U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon the Navy's newest aircraft for Anti Submarine Warfare!
