Started my primary training a few months ago after years of enjoying this channel. 12 hours in and your videos have taken on a totally new light as far as finally understanding the sequence of tasks and radio calls from start to finish. You have been a huge inspiration in my journey Steve-O! Safe travels.
I understand why you love your job you get to fly and land in all these cool places you couldn’t do it flying for an airline.
Thanks again for sharing. Safe travels
michael stern you summed up basically why I’m choosing Part 135 operations.
Von W. Careful what you wish for. 135 can absolutely suck!
How COLD do you have that AC running Steve?!
Steve is in charge. Makes his own calls with the flights.
Yeah I agree. I would rather do this than be an airline pilot.
I am happy to see that you are so polite and appreciative of the ground crews. They are the unsung heroes of aviation.
The TBM's are so amazing, they've become my favorite airplane because of your channel. Can't wait to see you in the 940 more too.
It was -11 F this morning here in MN, thanks for reminding me how beautiful MN is in the summer!
I’m a North-up pilot. Makes my position relative to waypoints easier for me to understand (i.e. 10 miles west of ____).
Same, I’m a Nav and doing radar fixes was always easier north up. I can do the orientation in my head but to know where you are in respect to a specific point...N up is way easier.
I'm the same way. I learned to fly with paper charts on a kneeboard. I had them stacked in order of the trip. All of them were positioned "north up". As I flew off of one, I would remove the top one and keep flying on the next. I used to lay them out on the floor or a big table to draw course lines.
Nope, always track up for me. With paper charts, I used to rotate them on my lap (before I even knew it was called track-up) to point in the direction of flight. For VFR, that made it much easier to spot landmarks for pilotage. My first instrument instructor insisted that ALL IFR pilots use north-up. I tried, but just never felt comfortable. So it is now track-up all the time. Oh, and I completed my rating with a different instructor ;-)
Track up for me. This makes it way easier to maintain spatial awareness as far as I'm concerned. When I need the relative location to a fix, I mentally superimpose the waypoint on the HI based on what I see outside or on the map and just read my location relative to the fix off of the HI. Nothing to figure out/calculate in my head. Not sure if I could even manage it N-up. Something to try next time I'm up
Most Airlines are track up. There is less interpretation involved, for instance if your traffic, fix etc are at 3 o’clock, they are the same on the map. The most relative direction is forward of the aircraft (airplanes rarely back into mtns). Also, your other instruments such as heading indicator, OBS, HSI are oriented to track up and can’t be changed.
There is something so calming about your dlights and your demeanor. Most appreciated, all the work you put into these.
Oh man, can't stop loving hearing those engines start up! Must be one of the coolest sounds in the world!!
Beautiful day for it, great flight great video I'm sure it always takes a long time to edit thx for the hard work. As always safe travels and may you continue to have the time of your life doing what you love to do. Oddly enough I live in the California San Francisco bay area also a Greenbay Fan. Beautiful green hills near the airport during landing.
North up all the way ! 😁

Thanks for the view into 0A9 on the RNAV approach. I've been there several times from the East over the mountains in my Cardinal but it's always been a visual approach, airport in sight descending through 5,000 feet. Indeed Elizabethton, TN is a beautiful place and the FBO crew are fantastic.
Nice flight as always! My daughter lived at the foothills of the Smokey Mtn in Cleveland/Chattanooga area for a number of years. I loved the view of mountains from her back deck. My wife and I (from Pensacola) had our first white Christmas while visiting her over the holidays. Will never forget that morning!
Rochester! Live 2 hours away!
If I ever get my pilot's license, the Smoky Mountains is where I want to do it. There is no place like home!!!
Awesome skills 😃, especially how you break things down and point them out! For the new pilot's means a lot ... Its a joy watching. Thanks for the posts 👍
You make it look so EZ. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us!!
You almost flew over my house this trip Steveo lol!! Welcome back to TN!!
Awesome "short final" announcement
i grew up in Rochester Minnesota, really miss it there. glad you got to see it too!
Very nice! Thanks. Love that wolf pack cumulus. Beautiful fair weather. Beautiful approach.
A Packer Fan?! You're officially my favorite pilot! GO PACK GO!
Dylan Baier ; 😉👍
Those were my exact sentiments when he said that. GO PACK GO!!!
Soon as he said it, I was like "I knew I liked him!!" GO PACK!
North up for ForeFlight and track up for GPS 😁
Same here, it's nice having Foreflight North up, makes it easier to know exactly where you are in reference to an airport on that first call to ATC on a VFR flight. When both are track up I've gotten my direction mixed up, told ATC I was SE when I was actually SW. Just makes me sound smarter...
John Friend I agree. Also if you are heading southbound the sectional/low enroute charts are upside down on ForeFlight with track up lol
Very nice scenic approach. Damn you make everything look so smooth and easy. Experience is the key. Nice job Steveo.
Hey Stevo, I’m still loving the vlogs from the UK after watching for last 2 yrs while doing my PPL.
Really enjoy the instruments close up mid-flight, more please....🤟🏼
i came, i saw, i smashed the like button
yes i
"One of my favorite runways to land at..." Admit it, Steveo, *all* of them are one of your favorites! :) Don't blame you, either.
Tennessee is a beautiful State! I fly into Nashville frequently (Clarksville)! Great job, as usual, Steveo!!!
Used to live in Jonesborough. Love seeing you fly into Elizabethton. Beautiful country up that way.
Maybe we’ll see you in Duluth sometime. How’d you like MN?
9:12 controller kind of sounds like Jamie from 310 Pilot
I thought the same thing but wrong center to be her.
I thought she was app/dep controller
@@ra4fun4me You might be right, I just know she doesn't work at Minneapolis.
Sounded like her ! thought she was at Chicago Center
I agree. Listening to her the second time at the hand off I think that was her. Love both channels.
I very much enjoyed your smooth and confident handling of this flight.
25 miles from home...great jam...edwin starr 1968....love it
A Greenbay fan............ Oh well, guess we can let you slide on that one ;-)
Go Packers.
It's cool seeing you fly into my old hometown for the second time. It is pronounced Eliz-uh-BETH-t'n.
Thanks SteveO , Its Great how you explain everything that your Doing
I'm a North up guy. I'm a student pilot doing lots of airport hopping and it's easiest for me to have a consist north up map for situational awareness for making position calls. Definitely see how track up is better for weather purposes. Great vid man.
21:42 I wish I was “TAKEN” for valentine day 🤣
21:50
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this was filmed many months ago!
I was thinking Minnesota looked a LITTLE warm for mid-Feb. Global warming! haha
Had to be! I know those Minnesotians are pretty tough, but even they would not be wearing shorts and T-shirts out on the ramp in February.
Does it really matter
The iPad said August
@@Xaphoeous and awfully green
Awesome video Steveo!!! Wow Tennessee has some amazing views and such beautiful mountains!! It was a nice change of scenery from Florida!! Thanks
Watching your videos are so relaxing. I sit down and watch the videos and dose off, keep up the great job, I love it!
When you decrease the RPM's to reduce cabin noise level, just how much noise is in the cabin? Do the cabin passengers need headphones or is it manageable without ear protection? Thanks S1K
Around 76.5 in the cabin and 91.6 in the cockpit (according to newavex), which is a bit uncomfortable without a headset.
@@rodriguebrousse2751 Thank you
@@larrymayberry2312 you can compare 76.5 to a vacuum cleaner so it would be just about you will be able to hold a conversation. 91 is over level at which sustained
exposure may result in hearing
loss. So basiaclly as a pax you would need earphones for comfort, but as a pilot you need them for hearing safety.
@@rodriguebrousse2751 The AVEX numbers are wildly optimistic for the 700 or 850 cabin. At 2000 rpm, my iPhone decibel app reads 88 in the pax cabin. Reducing the rpm to 1850 gives a 2-3db decrease which is quite noticeable. Keep in mind the dB scale is logarithmic. The AVEX numbers COULD be for the 900 series which has significantly enhanced noise insulation. A large part of the noise profile is wind noise which is reduced greatly at the high altitudes. Another benefit of using the lower rpm is decreased fuel flow and lower engine temps (ITT). There is a slight decrease in True airspeed but worth it IMO.
Let’s put it this way. I make my dogs wear”muttmuffs”. Kids wear ANR headsets.
i live in MN, this is a way different Mn than the one I'm in lol......-10 outside atm.
Came here looking for this comment. I just plowed snow and it's fricken cold out today!
I'm in northern minnesota and first thought was lol that's not Minnesota. He must if filmed over the warmer months
Minnesotan here too. KANE! Stevo couldn't handle MN being from Florida!☃️
Like Stevo...I'm stayin in FL. Couldn't imagine -10. omg
South Dakota.. Same
Always relaxing riding along. I learned to fly back in 1974 while in the Air Force at Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro , NC. I could rent a Cessna 150 for $10 an hour wet. Our flight instructors were F4E fighter pilots and required an additional 5 bucks an hour for instruction. Those were some great times!
I totally respect any track-up guys out there.I tried and failed that way so i'm a die hard North-up guy till i die...
What is this job exactly? I understand it’s flying the TBM. But for what? Also, love the vids
It's for some kind of family extended care type company outta Florida. Think he flies the executives around or something.
Rochester, MN is the home of the famous Mayo Clinic Hospital 🏥 so I imagine his passengers were medical executives, doctors, or patients
Ha Ha love the smash the like button if you see this. I SAW IT ON THE WING!!!!! DO I WIN ANYTHING? LOL
Thanks steveo for another fine video. There are so many wonderful things available to people today thanks to guys like you.
I always enjoy Steveo's flights - awesome.
Looks awfully warm (green) for Feb in MN???? Damn global warming
...the summers are much longer up there now, with global warming...a nice warm sun and lush green grass...
Y’ain’t from around here, are ya? It’s PRO-nounced “E-liz-uh-BETH-ton”...
I'm not from there either, but I've flown in. Great town! Fun approach.
Grew up in the area, worked at the FBO for years, eventually running the line department before it was Signature. Learned to fly and flew charter out of there until moving away in the early 90s. Brought back some fun memories watching the beginning of the vid!
Living is SoCal, North Up and Track up are very similar, direction of choice. Thanks for sharing Steveo!
Elizabethton, my home! Hope you enjoy your stay, Steveo!
Your videos are the best. Love the inflight narration. Excellent sound and video. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
Great video - what a beautiful country we line in. Track up rocks!
Great video. Great flight. That is one fine plane. I used to fly out of the Twin Cities and got to Rochester, MN a few times. More often than not there would be a Northwest/Delta commercial jet in a right hand pattern doing touch and go's. The trick was to fly to the VOR, a bit west of Rochester, turn left and line right up for a left hand approach. Tower would caution me about wake turbulence. Oh, yes. I'm grounded now - medical. When I fly commercial I'm always playing passive pilot. Seems like I get it right every time - especially the landings.
Absolutely stunning approach. thanks so much for sharing. Safe landings.
Thanks for the ride Steve, very much enjoy your flights.👍🇺🇸
Finally get around to watching this video and what do I see, the first location in common with my travels. I was at Signature in Rochester, MN in July. It was a great place to stop, new courtesy car to town for lunch.
always a great time riding along with stevo
I used to drive by the Roch intl airport every day last summer!! Hope you enjoyed the Minnesota Nice hospitality man!!!!!!!
Elizabethton is such a nice little town tucked away in those hills. Really enjoyed this flight SteveO
I love all these videos. Getting me throw the lockdown in the uk with a smile. Lovely views lovely plane and great host so thank you.
Usually track up. Sometimes North up just for a reality check. Love your videos Steveo!
Definitely a track up Pilot! When getting a traffic callout or viewing on the iPad, I know exactly where to look.
North up for planning, track up for flying. Thanks for another great flight.
Awesome as always Steve and it's great to still see and hear the startup.
Excellent video Steveo! These TBMs have been around for some time I guess? One was just found off Truk/Chuuk Lagoon after 76 years!
Another fun ride along. Thanks Steveo. Definitely track-up 👍
This got me excited for summer flying ! Great video, Love watching your channel. Fan of the TBM now too !
Waiting for the 940 Vids, cool plane. Your living the dream buddy!
Glad to hear you are a fellow Packer fan Steveo! I enjoy your channel thanks.
I'm with you Steveo---TRACK UP!!!
I concur, ForeFlight and track-up 👍. Aye, summertime, that ain’t what’s in Minnesota now.
Love to hear the final report on total trip and fuel burn. Great video.
I flew to Johnson City. The town next door. The mountains make for a fun approach and add a small challenge. Beautiful area. I will absolutely fly to eastern TN again.
Nice job putting together these videos Stevo! Always fun to fly with you. Thanks buddy!
Great to see you up in our neck of the woods, but you really should have been here this morning with temps in the -20's and lots of blowing snow in the afternoon. Safe journeys, enjoy your videos. Thanks for the ride a long.
I love Cloud Dancing! Great work dude!
Rochester is the first non-home airport I landed at solo. You're making me miss the summertime! Amazing time to fly in the north up here!
im very scared of flying only flown once but with this guy i would feel safe to fly with him behind the wheel
Im a truck driver, North up, kinda guy, i really enjoyed watching you work...flying scares me. But you made it look easy, you must be a professional...
Track up..... Keep up the great work Steveo!!!
Awesome vid and beautiful views!! TY again for sharing your time.
Hey Steve-O! Glad to see a MN trip. I live just down the street from Minne ARTCC....
I watch several pilot's videos on youtube because I absolutely love airplanes. So what can I say to communicate my feelings here? Here it is: "I'd fly with you anywhere Steve!" That says it all!
Beautiful flight and a great job! You make it look so easy!
I had to give up my hobby and passion of flying a private SR22 (eyesight failing) and miss it terribly. Watching you go through all your checks and calls with ATC is as close as I can get at home, and for free, to flying again, thanks Steveo, keep the vids coming.
Glad to hear you're a Packers fan! Love your channel, Steveo. Cheers, from Green Bay!
Great flight and great views, thanks steve.
Hope you like Minnesota, Steveo, im from there. Happy Valentines day as well, I LOVE watching your channel.
Hey now , definitely track up. Thanks for the video.
I prefer north up. Welcome up north Steveo. Love your videos! Our summer base is Cleveland CGF. Our winter base is St Pete PIE. We hear you on the airwaves often in Florida.
Music always on point. Thanks for sharing.
Great Flight, Thank you for sharing your flights! Go Pack Go!
Really enjoyed the close up of the cockpit. GO PACK!
Thanks for the Ride.
Cool deal. I live in Johnson City, but I'm less than 1 mile from Elizabethton. Cool to see you so close to my home!
I know Elizabethton. Nice little airport, not too far from Tri Cities. My part of the world! Always love "flying" in the TBMs with you, Steve! I learned to fly out of RKW, down past Knoxville on a mountain plateau.
You do have a great career exciting to be able an see all different places u do really good on your videos as well
Really professional as always; thanks for sharing
