Another great video. The arri al ATIS stated "visual or ILS approach". As you know advertising both is common. However, the approach controller on initial contact should have stated exactly what approach to expect. Setting up line you did for the ILS is wise, that way you are ready. Also, especially in areas like Florida where weather builds quickly, the visuals may be working well, then suddenly not. Plus backing up your visual approach with the ILS can keep you from going to the wrong runway.

If you think about it the MIA, PBI and JAX controllers are all celebrities in heir own right with the number of UA-cam Chanel's they appear in. It's a shame in most cases they are anonymous they seem like awesome helpful professionals. It's great to see that.

Nice video! I have a question: How does the propeller (connected to the free power turbine) turn before fuel is injected? Does it just turn with air coming from the ATS or the battery? I thought the turbines turned with the expansion of gases.

I could have done what the above pilot had demonstrated back in 1968 when I first soloed at age 16 and my mom had to drive me to the airport so I could solo a C-150. By age 17, I was "entitled" to my PP license. A year later the commercial license. Then a year later the CFI. But that was back in the early to middle 1970s when the Viet Nam war was ending and the Navy and Air Force pilots were coming home by the droves. What chance did we "novices" have? None. The airlines were still "regulated" by the FAA. The Navy pilots got first "dibs" during an economic environment when Jimmy Carter was president.
The author of this video probably has no idea how lucky he is to be able to fly such sophisticated aircraft at such a young age. When I was his age we had no chance at all in the "civil population" to do what he is doing in this video. There were no aviation jobs because the View Nam war pilots were coming home and they could not even get jobs because the airline industry was still regulated by the FAA. Besides, the Jimmy Carter economy was an example of the worst form of government management. Interest rates were at their worst at over 17% to 19%. Inflation was at it's worst due to Jimmy Carter. It was given a special economic name by the experts....."Stagflation". When was the last time any of you young economists have heard that term?
Jimmy Carter's idea of running our lives was demonstrated when he gave a TV appearance where he sat in front of a fireplace during a cold winter's night wearing a heavy sweater and telling us we had to endure the cold because there was no oil coming into our country. In the meantime, I flew Cessna's down the New Jersey Coastline only to observe Oil barges after Oil barges being "stopped" from entering the New York harbor in single file like a "conga line".
As I was flying down the N.J. coast, I asked myself, "why are these oil barges not being allowed to enter N.Y. Harbor? There is an "Oil Crisis" why are there ten oil ships in line being prevented from entering the New York Harbor"?
The oil crisis of the mid-1970s was a political hoax. People had to wait on "gas lines" for over 12 hours just to get fuel for their cars. I remember this in 1974 and again in 1976.
The Carter Administration told us there was no oil coming into our country because of an " Oil Embargo" caused by the oil-producing nations later known as OPEC. That was a damn lie by Jimmy Carter, probably the worst president in modern history. He screwed many poor people from having heat during the cold winter months just to make his point.
Yet there were Oil Barges lined up trying to enter the N.Y. harbor to deliver their oil into the tanks in the N.J. storage areas in the western Sandy Hook oil storage zone. How do I know this? Because I saw it with my own eyeballs while flying C-150s and C-172s down the N.J. shoreline. What upset me the most was that the TV news stations were either covering up the lie for Jimmy Carter or were clueless because they were never told about the oil barges sitting there trying to enter N.Y. Harbor. They must have been able to see what I and my passengers saw, that is, several oil tankers lined up in single file trying to enter N.Y. Harbor.
Yet all the news stations had helicopters that were capable of observing what I saw. But what I and my passengers and many others saw was never told by the local news stations. They went along with the lie, we had no oil coming into our country. That was the first time in my life as a home born and grown American citizen I first discovered my government was lying to me. I'm still pissed off at Jimmy Carter, a lying SOB of a person. He was the wimp of all wimps. A wuss of all wusses.
He never deserved to be a President. I don't care how many nails he drove into houses for the poor. He screwed more innocent lives while President than any other person in recent history. Of course all of the above is within my "HUMBLE OPINION".
I guess I'm just jealous that young pilots today have such great opportunities when guys like me had not opportunity due to the times. All you young aviation enthusiasts, go for it, live your dreams. You are living in times where if you put your souls into your hearts, you can achieve great things. I'm jealous of your times. My time has passed. I'll admit it, I'm jealous of you young guys. "Earn this".
