CORRECTIONS (PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING): Hey, everyone! Thanks so much for watching, commenting, and subscribing! However, to own up to the small errors we made with our calculations, we'll talk about them here. We're sorry for misleading you a bit! Firstly, we should have used Life Orb as Coalossal's item, as it adds 1.3 to the "other" modifier instead of the 1.2 gained from Charcoal. Secondly, we accidentally multiplied one figure from the "other" modifier twice. We had 5.4 but it should have been 3.6 (we multiplied 3.6 by Flash Fire's 1.5 again to get 5.4 through a calculation error on our part). The true value (if we use Life Orb instead of Charcoal) should be 3.7. Here's the REAL maximum damage: 279,115.2 (the damage before the "other" modifier) x 3.7 = 1,032,726.24 Rounded down to 1,032,726. Thank you all again for watching, commenting, and subscribing!
And, I haven’t checked the math yet, but flash fire and blaze give 30% boosts to fire type moves, but adaptability gives an additional 50%, not sure how it works with terra though, but just thinking about it makes it feel like a better multiplier
Also, the title is *slighty* misleading, not sure if you can change the title, but it’d be better to say “strongest damage with single fire move” without considering stored power or power trip in the vid, weather or not they even could out-damage this setup
And the vid says single move, not single target, so with euruption or heat wave or something similar, the 75% is still doubled or tripled if it’s possible to get more of the ‘victim’ mons on both sides of the field
Poor Frosmoth, gonna need some herba mystica sandwiches after that. Great video, now I understand a little more about damage calc. Also, any reason I'm missing for using charcoal instead of life orb? That's a 10% loss in damage.
Lol, yep! Hopefully, Frosmoth can still eat at that point. We're glad you learned a little more about damage calculations through our video! And you make a great point about using Life Orb instead of Charcoal! We were so focused on Fire-type mechanics that we overlooked Life Orb. You're totally right-Life Orb would have been better to use here! The penultimate value of 279,115.2 would be multiplied by 5.5 instead of 5.4 if we used Life Orb, which would result in a total damage output of 1,535,133.6 instead of 1,507,222.08. Thanks, pal! You made our damage numbers go up even higher :) [Edited] However, after reading another comment correcting another of our mistakes, the "other" modifier should be 3.6 (with Charcoal) which means, with Life Orb, the "other" modifier should be 3.7. Whoops, haha...
If I didn't mess up any calculations the real highest possible damage number using a fire Type move should be 108,407,635. For this to occur we need the magic of Smeargles. With Reflect Type the Smeargle can copy Frosmoth's Type and act as a new target. This is because it makes getting stat boosts (which I will include) much easier to get while also providing additional utility like being able to use skill swap itself. Our attacking Pokemon will be a Kantonian Moltres. It is the Pokemon with the highest Special attack that can learn Burn Up which will be the new attack we use as it doesn't lower special attack and can as such be used consecutively to boost the effect of Metronome. The final setup looks the following: Team A Moltres Level 100, Tera Fire, modest max SpA, +6 SpA, with activated Flash fire and having used Burn up 4 times before to make Metronome give 2x Damage next to a Cherrim with Helping Hand and Flower Gift in the Sun. Team B is a Level 1 Smeargle with the Types Ice, Bug and Grass at -6 min SpDef with the ability Fluffy and affected by Tar shot and having used Glaive Rush to double the incoming damage next to a Chi-Yu. The Calculations ahould go as Follows: ((2 x Level 100 : 50 + 2) x 130 Base Power x (383 SpA x 4 from stat boosts x 1.5 from Flower Gift) : 1 SpDef) + 2) x 1.5 Sun Boost x 2 Glaive Rush x 2 Tera Fire stab x 1.5 crit x 16 Tripple Weakness and Tar Shot x 2 5th turn Metronome Boost x 1.5 Helping Hand = 108,407,635. Maybe I even missed something but this is still only about half of what Power Trick +6 Ice Type Shuckle can do to a Noibat when using Ice ball (at least in Gen 6 where Tripple battles where still a thing)
It would be interesting to use flame burst on the other Pokemon and have the splash damage knock out the Frosmoth. Maybe try and see how strong you can make the moth and still have that happen.
If you had more pokemon in your party you could have used some set up to increase Sp Attack and then use batton pass. You could have also lowered Frostmoth's Sp Defense. And finally you could have changed into Reshiram or Chandelure, the fire pokemon with the highest Sp Attack in gen 9. But I guess that using only 2 pokemon per side this answer is as close to correct as possible.
12:36 I have question here if you don’t mind but before I ask I must say amazing video, it was really entertaining. But here for the “other” section, is it really multiplicatively? If not, how do you get 5.4? 1.2 x 1.5 x 2 is 3.6, and it wasn’t clear what the formula is for this part. Thanks! 😊 Edit: I found the formula, it’s (charcoal + flash fire) * fluffy. However, fluffy was also in the “type” section’s multiplier, so was it included twice?
We appreciate you watching our video and for the positive feedback! And thanks for pointing that out! We made a bit of a mistake. We included Flash Fire's 1.5 twice. As you said, it should be 3.6 for the "other" modifier. However, we accidentally multiplied 3.6 by 1.5 again-which is how we got 5.4. [Edited] Also, after reading another comment correcting our errors, we should be using Life Orb instead of Charcoal for max damage, which means the "other" modifier we want would be 3.7 (1.3 from Life Orb instead of 1.2 from Charcoal).
Was there a reason for not using moves such as nasty plot to increase the special attack further and special defense lower it would have required more setup but certainly wouldn’t have been impossible
Fair question! With the Pokémon we needed to use for this setup, using moves like Nasty Plot and Fake Tears are not possible since none of the Pokémon used can learn such moves and/or swap the buffs/debuffs onto the required Pokéomn to have a useful effect.

Choice specs/band also give 1.5, but I’m not sure if you can do the proper setup while being choice locked, but Magic room might be a workaround
Also, the title is *slighty* misleading, not sure if you can change the title, but it’d be better to say “strongest damage with single fire move” without considering stored power or power trip in the vid, weather or not they even could out-damage this setup
You also forgot stat boosts/whatever the opposite of a boost is, giving it within like 10 points of another 16x damage, without calculating much
And the vid says single move, not single target, so with euruption or heat wave or something similar, the 75% is still doubled or tripled if it’s possible to get more of the ‘victim’ mons on both sides of the field
This is super impressive! damn good work!
Thank you so much! We put a lot of research into this one!
Frosmoth ain't never recovering from that attack no matter how many times it's healed in a pokemon center 💀
Everyone please pray for Frosmoth to find peace 🙏
R.I.P.

You overlooked the most important possibility.
Can you live with yourself for what you've done?
We'll be joining Giratina in the Distortion World for what we've done...but it was worth it for science! >:^)
Damn, all that to just get killed by focus sash endeavor and then quick attack 😂

This video is *Fire* 🔥
Thanks, pal! We're glad you think so!
Frosmoth just doesn't exist anymore. It was reduced into its base particles from that attack
They are with Arceus now.🙏 May they rest in peace.
Shuckle: I can do the most damage out of any Pokemon in a single move!
Coalossal: Hold my Beer.
Now we're just thinking how tasty a beer infused with Berry Juice would be.

I feel like you lost out using coalossal and no life orb robbed you of a few digits. But either way good work
Thanks for the compliment and for pointing that out! You're right, Life Orb would have been better-we'll make a comment about that,
Horn drill does infinite damage🗿
Actually, it (and other One-Hit Knock Out moves) do exactly 65,535 damage-which is the precise damage ceiling for moves ;^)
