In this video take on Pokemon this gym of mine one of the best Pokemon fan games I've ever played. This pokemon challenge with Pokemon this gym of mine is one of the most fun fan game experiences I've ever had. imagine being a brand new trainer, excited to finally start your journey and set out to get all of the gym badges and fight the elite four, just for your first gym to be dragon types with the gym leader spamming dragon rage
Y’know, I always imagined that for kids that lived in the cities where the harder gyms are, being sent out to go run the gauntlet was less being sent off into the wide world to find their futures and more being sent out to get stronger for a great homecoming.

@@ItsFelix_ true we literally skip the first gym in pokemon's history (diferent reasons, but lvl5 charmander isn't even a joke for giovanni anyways)
At least it'd be an encouragement to better yourself and your Pokemon, I guess… probably shouldn't be a first Gym Leader, tho.

Ghost is better than Dragon. Dragon is just kinda good.
A water type gym would be a strong choice. Gyrados, Lapras, and Swampert is a solid core. Maybe a Golisopod, a Poliwrath, and a Wash Rotom.
You can get a regional water fire magmar and as long as he has a cramorant I’m cool with it
Best gym type is ground! The sheer amount of awesome dual-types. Swampert. Garchomp. Excadrill. Torterra. There are a bunch.

How is this not an official setting? This is easily one of the things people wanted to do the most when Pokemon came out and makes no sense not to have an official version.

I'd probably go Electric just cause my favorite Pokemon is in that category. As much as I'd want a personalized team, I'd probably have to go with what I can get just so I could be a bit of a challenge in Gyms though.

My two favorite types are Electric and Fire but Fire ends up winning first place in my heart by just slightly more so I would be a Fire Gym leader.
I would LOVE to be a fairy-type gym leader. Fairy types are just the absolute cutest, with some absolutely epic Pokémon to boot (like mimikyu and Sylveon)
I actually played through the challenge as fairy, I chose ralts.

Hopefully the developers of this ROM Hack, go and make a sequel.
Here's my idea: It would be good if they do one, where there is a Main Screen. Here you basically start off by numbering all the 18 different Pokemon Types from the best to least favourite. Then you start the game as your favourite, you choose a name, character style, and starter Pokemon. Then you have a "Mini Game" as a Gym leader with that type. After a short-while you win that segment, and it then brings you to the Main Screen and continues to your least favourite type (last choice). You again choose a name, character style, and starter Pokemon. Then have a different adventure. And after beating that Mini Game, again it brings you to the Main Screen, and this time to the second-last choice. You do that until you've experienced playing as the "Gym Leader" for all different types. But each time you start off with higher and higher levels, so it's not just rinsing with Lv 5 creatures. There is also an interwoven story with it all. And then a post-game section where it brings you back to your Favourite Typing. Here you see your Starter Pokemon, your initial squad has been levelled up, and there's interesting choices in your PC Box. You can grind a bit as well. And this post-game section then has you visiting all the other Gym Leaders you played before as. You attempt to beat them all. Then you are made as an Elite Four, where your Favourite is the last option, but you can choose the other three. You defeat a handful of trainers, until you face-off against "The Champion" and ultimately get defeated.

Dark, Electric, Ground, Water,
Fire, Fairy, Dragon, Steel.

Honestly, I'd probably rotate types to get more experience with all of them. My goal wouldn't be to be overwhelmingly powerful: being a Gym Leader ought to already provide opportunities to easily attain power not available to normal Trainers, and that's not the point of the job anyway. The trick would be to build a gym to allow the evaluation of trainers as they progress towards reaching me, so I can decide if they should get whatever badge I'm in charge of, and what I need to test them on personally to make sure. Well, that, managing the gym regulars and their own progress, and community work.
Psychic and Dragons were always my favorite Pokemon types so if I was a gym leader I'd be happy one way or the other!
honestly i'd choose ghost.
Its been pair with every type atleast once (other than pcy) so massive coverage and two immunities off the bat of common pokemon types!

I played this game too, and beat it with a poison gym team. I did try to play using ghost, but the rough riders were so annoying I switched to a different type.
Always thought this would be cool as most of my favourite pokemon are poison. Nidoking, Weezing, Croagunk would be my team. Got a cool visual balance too - tough, goofy and cute lol
A Ground or Poison type gym with Nidoqueen would be crazy tbh..
I’d choose bug mainly because I LOVE the bug type. Leavanny is my favorite Pokémon so it would be my ace
I think I'd either like to go Steel or Poison for a chemistry themed gym, or a Water gym for a Pirate theme!

I didn’t such game existed. Wished I could play it. Always wanted to try the gym leader role.
Monotype is a real competive format you can try on Showdown, so you can always check what the meta is there. Because fairy, dragon, and steel are certainly strong, but weaknesses are emphasised when you only have that type. I dont follow the monotype showdown meta much, so id just pick water and use fual typing to manage each weakness.

I would choose either a grass or a bug type gym(ideally grass) just to run an eviolite Sewaddle as my ace. If that's not in the game though I'd probably be a psychic or fairy gym leader
A high level grass type gym could actually be really solid and difficult to beat if you built it right there’s a lot of spore spammers and good dual types out there but game freak always makes the grass gyms low level

It would be cool to try and go the distance with a Bug Type gym. Those are usually some of the first gyms so growing from there and becoming the best gym in the region would be pretty cool.
My first try was a bug type gym leader. It was hard because there are barely any decent bug type in the game, especially a tanky bug pokemon...hence I have to rely on other type of pokemon for that role (theres no shuckle sadly). This made my team a 4/6 bug type. Its still fun tho, I only lost when the challengers' pokemons are higher lvl than me ( happened twice, i forgot to train).
Especially since you can show your power through strategic genius rather than just raw power. Area 1 Bug types do rely on poison damage and lowering speed so you could set up some good plays

This would be an awesome idea. Someone should make an animal crossing/ pokemon game and let you play as a gym leader! Just a bit more polish and grind incentive and this one could be something big!
I would pick Normal type because it only has one weakness, is immune to one of the strongest types in the game, and they have awesome coverage for pretty much every type.
Edit: to clear up any confusion, when I say Normal being immune to Ghost types is an advantage, it is because in early generations most Pokemon had Normal type moves in their learnset, which Ghost types are immune to, but were not Normal type so they were not immune to Ghost attacks. Normal types have the advantage of stab on those same Normal moves but with the immunity to Ghost and oftentimes had coverage moves to hit Ghosts while early Ghost type learnset were almost entirely Ghost and Normal moves with some Poison sprinkled in. Point being that I still choose Normal type because one of my favorite Pokemon is a normal type and they are immune to Ghost. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk and there will be an exam at the end of the week.

@@arynoob1392 in Generation 1 Ghost types were immune to normal moves and most Pokemon had a ton of normal moves in their learnset. And the Gengar line had Levitate until Gen 8, so it only had 3 weaknesses. Ghost also hits Psychic types, one of the hardest hitting types before Fairy, for super effective damage. Finally, Ghost types are naturally immune to Normal and Fighting moves, so some of the better Pokemon in the game are Ghost types. This is my opinion tho so feel free to disagree.
@@arynoob1392 yes. Ghost is very strong offensively as only dark resists it and normal isn't affect, neither of which are exceptional defensive typings. Ghost also benefits from having 2 immunities, one is to fighting which is a very strong offensive type and the other is to normal and normal moves are easily the most common moves in a playthrough.

I played this game a couple months ago as a fire leader with growlithe. Fire was definitely difficult because there wasn’t many fire pokemon available. My favorite custom was a water/fire magmar

@@blazeray1000 it was really difficult and the game itself was hard too. Not that many people played it so your really had to test things out and figure out what Pokémon are where. Hell there were more dragons at first than there were fire types. The game also stops you from continuing until you have a certain amount of Pokémon to battle with (either of the same type or one that can learn the signature move)
They give you a starter but for fire I chose growlithe and immediately bought a fire stone. There was almost no fire types so you have to choose a Pokémon that learns flamethrower. I can’t remember my whole team but I know I had Growlithe, talonflame, magmar (which was water/fire), dragonite and I can’t remember the the other two.
@Brianna M Ah. Thanks for explaining it so well. Fire is my favorite typing by far so I'd be willing to explore just to find any new fire combos. Just wish it was a more mobile friendly rom hack lol
I'd go for Dark, Dragon is a close second but they're a little too powerful in general for me to wanna pick em, other than that psychic would probably be another good one

I was hoping they would upgrade you from a gym leaders to the elite four after beating the champion! Then you could fill both positions and have an expanded location like the normal guy in scarlet Violet!

Lemme be honest, I’d probably go for a Fire Type Team, since it resembles the fiery spirit and rage inside me. Only issue I have with that is that the best way for Fire Type Mons to rock is with Sun Team Coverage. I like Dragon Types too, but I don’t like to plagiarize, and they may make things too easy. Only other type I’d go with would be Water due to my quest to become more calm and fluid with change.

Always wanted this in Pokemon but in leaderboard style, top score players can become a gym leader until reset weekly and the top 5 players are elite 4 and champion resets in a month or new player beats the champion🏆🤩 perfect mmo for Pokemon

I would have a steel type gym. That learn moves that have a lot of coverage and are just great in my opinion. I have done many nuzel locks with them and I really do enjoy steel type pokemon.
Okay, the story of this game is like a perfect 6/10. I like the ideas of the storyline, they’re just a little too amateur in the way they are presented. Like, the question of “Why didn’t the mayor just take over after the first gym leader left?” is answered by “Then who would run the city well enough to sustain a gym in the first place?” Like, I’m kinda sold the mayor’s motivation that he wants the same respect as the gym leaders because he’s just as important to their success. A bad writer would’ve made their motivation to always be more powerful than the gym leader because of their jealously. Little touches like that are what puts it in a good column overall.
Played it, liked it, but the world felt very small and beat it in a few hours. I liked the concept! Wish they would make a gym leader pokemon game

Best type is definitely flying because then you can have fire types like Charizard, dragon types, heat wave, ghost and dark type moves and pretty much whatever you want. You can even throw in a Steel wing

i would want dark type, is most likely because i have more memories on my dark typed pokemon, and the ones that are just my fav, like Zoroark and Tyranitar, and also i just miss more dark gym leaders.
