It's not even *like* "charging $100 extra for cable hole covers", that *is* exactly what they're doing. All the accessories are absurdly expensive, even just some simple plastic shapes are between $100-200.
Edit: Did the prices change after this video? I could swear the random plastic lump that's supposed to somehow help you organize cables cost $200 when this video was new, now it's $29 (which is still expensive though) and no accessory was below $1000.
I'm guessing they want to capitalize on the views before they bump up the prices again.

It was basically a small hutch in the corner and since CRTS were 4:3 trying to fit 2 16:9 monitors was NOT going to happen in the space int he hutch so one had to sit off to the side in front of one of the cabinets on the desk. It had 2 cabinets one with drawers and one with just a cabinet and cubbies.

A desk that requires an account and firmware upgrades is just waiting to be dead wood
Edit: It's even worse, it needs to be connected to wifi, and then they connect through a central server it seems. So once that server is down, your desk doesn't connect to your phone anymore, loosing most of the functionality. They can also see all your settings and current state. Ofc you need to connect with your account you used to purchase, so they know your real name and address of the desk. They plot the desks on a map and their current height and notice how, in the afternoon, the desks lower in a wave across the united states as the sun sets and people turn from standing work to sitting leisure - oh wait, wrong script
Edit 2: Manual indicates wifi connection is optional, website FAQ was just pushing Wifi a lot. Seems you can use all features with just bluetooth (and the internet connection would then be done over the phone). With this, I cannot conclude whether or not all action on the desk will be reported to a server (though I wouldn't be surprised for analytics). I just hope you can use a separate account from ordering (though that would require two email addresses) to log into the app (which is still mandatory). Would still avoid, since it requires an account, it is still very likely the app has been (intentionally or not) programmed in a way that will break once servers go down or there is no connection for more than a few days. Would be cool if they tested it, have a phone log in, disconnect from the network for a week, and see if everything still works

Then you saw you had to give up all sense of privacy and self-respect by connecting it to their server just to have your phone control it, with an account required that contains your real name and address and payment info, just so it can ask the server for permission to lower itself whenever the phone requests it, and you realise, it IS robbery, you don't even own the damn thing!

When putting together furniture, start the screws for each step, after each screw is halfway in, then go back and tighten the said screws for that step, prior to going to the next step. It's like putting a tire on, you start each nut (screw), then you snug each nut (screw), then you tighten each nut (screw). It may sound OCD, but it works every time and all holes line up.
Nice looking desk, just out of my price range for a prebuilt desk. I am with you on buying a $400 mouse and yet as for a desk that is under all the most important functioning items, I would spend $500 max for a prebuilt desk, unless I build one then I'll spend $4000 in the making of all the items I would want in a desk.
    Thanks for the video.

Because there is a very specific market that only cares about throwing away money on pointless things when they are told they are "premium", and they have nailed that market with this desk.

Easily done when people try to make a product "smart" or "gamer".
Not a good sign at all for longevity if there is the need for an account, and firmware upgrades.
There are products for which I understand it, but a desk.
That is in my opinion getting silly.

Great video and a nice looking desk -- but WAY overpriced for what it is. The second you mentioned the desk has an app, I rolled my eyes -- and then for the first time in my life I saw a desk needing a firmware upgrade and I laughed. Account required to use the $2000 desk I just bought? Yeahno.
