Ronnie's rivals were closer to him because they were better than Phil's competitors. And that is what makes Ronnie the number 1 because he won against much better bodybuilders. And this is coming from someone who prefers Phil's physique but you cannot deny that. Great discussion guys I loved it!
Phil’s training and genetics just completely outdistanced his competitors. Even Kai. Agree with Matt on the mandatory top 5 not needing to be requalified. Maybe down it to 3 bc these random open shows could use the bigger names to entice audiences and competitors.
In regards of shows, the idea of having the top 5-6 compete in at least one show (even though theyre qualified) would bring more excitement. Add that with having less shows and giving the top 2 qualifications on higher tier shows like arnold/chicago/new york etc. Imagine 3rd place from the olympia places 2nd or 3rd at a lower tier show. Forces athletes to stay in shape and gives more excitement to everything overall. More “stories”, “rivalries”, “comebacks”.

I always have said 01 Jay should have won the Mr O. I waited weeks to get that Olympia spread in Muscle Mag in my little crappy small town and my cousin and I were just blown away that Jay had placed 2nd.
I would like to see bodybuilding federations create a league points system for the year that counts towards competing in the showcase of the year event like The Olympia, Universe etc.. That validates all other competitions leading up to the showcase events. This would ensure that not only would there be less Pro Cards being distributed yearly, but would ensure that each contest is filled with competitors of quality and familiarity to the fan base. If this where to happen, then it would be a collective effort of all promoters, sponsors and events to work closely to build up not only exposure for contests, but also competitors and create a tier system for prize money to be pooled towards bigger rewards throughout the season. In the long term of professional bodybuilding, this will create a stable franchise of steady consistent growth annually, on all fronts - competitor, contest and earning wise.
The first step is to increase the prize pool, and if that doesn't work then more extreme measures like reducing the auto qualifying Olympia slots need to be considered.

I am not sure on where the money would come from, without digging into the ecosystem more. However, I have worked in sports for 15+ years and typically prize money is the carrot we use to get more participants. We also look at the schedule, number of points won (if points system), obligations to the federations, obligations to partners, associated brands, media opportunities, exposure, likelyhood of placing well, ease of access, communicating with the potential participants and so on. Or just tempt Saudi Arabia to buy the sport, like golf ;)

I agree with manager mike only Mr. O should be qualified everyone else should compete & win a show to get back to the O regardless of who you are that would definitely make things more interesting for body building & the fans !
Matt is 100% correct about everyone outside of Mr Olympia having to qualify, if you want the satellite shows to do better. 2-5 came close, but 1st is 1st and 2nd is nowhere. You got paid for your placement, now re-qualify.
great to see milos back guy,s in our sport you have the voice of bodybuilding but i would put milos ahead of bc and name milos the passion of bodybuilding. the thing that impressed me with jay during his career was the way he interacted with the fans and took time to speak to every one of them when they were getting signed pics of him how many pros can we say do that these day.s?

I personally don’t think anyone should automatically qualify for the next Olympia… If the champ is the only one to requalify then you set up the 5-10 year championship runs… Push the champ and everyone else to compete and expose themselves to challengers…
First time I see anyone stop what they are doing and visit the Celsius cooler. First Jay and Matt a few minutes later. I'm only halfway thru the podcast. Will Milos grab one, too?
I would definitely buy Milos’s log books, if he where to publish them as a warts and all insight into the amount of discipline it takes to be as consistent to make gains and asses progress efficiently. I think not only Milos Sarcev, but also Dorian Yates’s log books (any really, that have similar professional attitudes towards quantifying progress), would be the best insight(s) into the levels a disciplined bodybuilder goes to, to measure successes in great detail.
I think the reason why a lot of people are not competing is there not many shows in America and no points system so athletes are being more strategic. A lot of the shows are overseas in Europe so people across the world are flying out to the shows to try to win and qualify for the Olympia
I think the point about competing frequently is that your showing the Judges you are hungry, and want to move up. And bodybuilding conditioning is a art and you get better and learn your art. Like Milos, didn't he become the best trainer/coach advisor in bodybuilding today? And he got that way by know not only how his body reacted but how others reacted. He would not go wrong...😉 But no....I understand how everything works... My cry for help is to OTHER PEOPLE that I believe could possibly help (if they try).
The reality is competitive bodybuilding is not healthy, simply because it's the prep for the shows that promote extremely dangerous practices in order to achieve that final condition. There is only so much of that the body can take.the guys that got in for 5 or 10 years and got out are still going. Guys that push it beyond that are not generally so lucky, unless very genetically gifted.i think that's main reason less guys competing

Fouad and Paul’s show is an ifbb sanctioned event and they’ve raised the prize money to 20 k minimum and it’s not even an Olympia qualifier it’s going to take show like that to set the new standard and to show it can be done even if you do classic only or bodybuilding only or women only shows just to create a funnel to get these guys in the green for profit loss on competing alone
@@nickd121 then why did fouad specifically say it’s not a O qualifier lol literally he said it might not be a big turn up the first year so we’re sticking to open Why? Because it’s not a qualification sanctioned show I don’t know the nuts and bolts but I do know that what they’re doing with this show will possibly set a new precedent of the worth of competitors at the pro level

I really hope something can be done to get him to the Olympia, its a shame
The reality is competitive bodybuilding is not healthy, simply because it's the prep for the shows that promote extremely dangerous practices in order to achieve that final condition. There is only so much of that the body can take.the guys that got in for 5 or 10 years and got out are still going. Guys that push it beyond that are not generally so lucky, unless very genetically gifted.i think that's main reason less guys competing
Can you please explain what is the benefit of taking baby aspirin?
keeps the blood thinner / prevent clotting - Matt
@@CutlerCast Is there any specific brand you would suggest and how many tabs a day should one take also how does this effect a person if they are pinning each week as far as stopping the bleeding now so forth? Will this not make it harder to stop the bleeding after injections?
Only open class Mr Olympia champions have the right to call themselves Mr Olympia, the other 212/classic/physique bodybuilders should introduce themselves selves as 212/classic/physique Mr Olympia not-
Mr Olympia (pause) 212/classic/physique

Milos, there are travel agencies that specialise in visa processing. He should reach out to them.
Iran is different, Iranian citizens can’t get visas - Matt

MUCH RESPECT to you both for your accomplishments on/off the stage. Amazing. But with all that…are we really surprised by all these “young” men and women dying? Seriously? I can’t imagine what you had to do…put your body through…to accomplish your “stage’ body. RISK…REWARD. Right?
Thank you as always, for your insightful bodybuilding commentary:)
All pro shows are olympia qualifiers dude
@@nickd121 then why did fouad specifically say it’s not a O qualifier lol literally he said it might not be a big turn up the first year so we’re sticking to open
Why? Because it’s not a qualification sanctioned show
I don’t know the nuts and bolts but I do know that what they’re doing with this show will possibly set a new precedent of the worth of competitors at the pro level
@@studaddyjohnson6200 again. All men's open pro shows are Olympia qualifiers.
@@studaddyjohnson6200 they said, none of the other classes are Pro Qualifiers. So the amateur show doesn't give you a pro card if you win.
It’s probably because of UA-cam lol
