@@1fly592 It's a bit of a inside joke in Yakuza fandom. Heat attacks are powerful special attacks in Yakuza games. They're usually named "Essence of (whatever)" the latter part usually being named after something related to the move, or in some cases what the character literally does in that move, such a as (I kid you not) "Essence of Door Slamming". Here since Kiryu is beating up Yuta, his adoptive daughter's boyfriend and the father of his grandson, his attacks may just as well be called "Essence of Father-In-Law".
You know this fight is really important to kiryu once you realize that kiryu never had any parents and through the other games he has met other characters with similar backstories and saw how that affected them so it makes perfect sense he'd be completely ready to knock some sense into Yuta and prevent that haruto suffered the similar destiny he and others have suffered
Thanks man. I like to believe this was intended since it's kiryu's final game and it makes sense that everything he has learned shows through his actions in the story
This made me realize that this game is just Kiryu surrounded by people who make decisions he would have made when he was younger. Haruka removing herself from her family because she thinks that would spare them from suffering. Yuta being ready to die, thinking his death will protect his loved ones... This entire game is Kiryu stopping the cycle.
I love the pre-boss fight scene and everything. Mostly because it feels like Yuta is a reflection on how Kiryu used to be. Head strong and thinking he can use force to brush his problems aside, not realizing that it would actually make other people suffer because of it. So Kiryu gets to knock some sense into Yuta to show him that dying doesn't help anyone.
Yuta is the good counterpart of Kyohei Jingu, of all people: Both are nobodies who came to power in the underworld and got romantically involved with the Sawamura women(Haruka and Yumi, respectively) and fathered children with them. But Yuta is an upstanding person, despite his familial ties with criminals, Jingu appears to be a respectable citizen and politician, but is a completely ruthless sociopath. Yuta would protect Haruka and Haruto with his life if necessary, Jingu has murdered Yumi and attempted to kill Haruka for the sake of power. Jingu embodies what Yuta could have become if his father Big Lo never gave him away and was raised as a Triad.
