I'd never heard of a Kawandi quilt before. It looks like a fun project. You're doing a wonderful job. Thank you! BTW I just found you!

I've made one Kawandi, lap throw size, and really enjoyed the process as well. And yes I ran across some of the issues you've spoken of here. There were a couple of places where I just did some hand stitching to hide a loose seam.
I used a piece of old soft flannel sheet for my "batting" layer, so it didn't move around as much and gave it a really nice weight.
You've inspired me to give this another try! I'll probably stick with a smaller throw quilt, though!
    Thanks for sharing your journey!

Thanks for your helpful tips. I’m about to start one, it will be lap size and I’m using an old flannelette sheet for the inside,

I've made a couple of runners and you're correct about the typical mistakes! One frustrating thing for me is the lining begins to bunch up when you are getting close to the middle. All I could do is cut a slit in the lining and overlap the lining to smooth it out. It turned out fine but it did add an extra layer to sew thru. I used an old cotton sheet also. Thanks for your video!

What kind of "thread" do you use for the hand quilting please ?? Is it embroidery thread ??

I am using cotton crochet thread. It was more economical than using embroidery thread as I was told if using embroidery thread , you would need all six strands.
