    So awesome. I had a 3d printer for Christmas and would like to make some artwork and decorations for my house so this has given me some real good inspiration even if it will take me months on one machine!! Found your content and am really enjoying watching. Thank you.

    a little tip macy, at 03:50 when selecting filament, you can just mark the part as you do, and then press the number key for the filament, so like 4 for that bambu pla matte you selected with the drop menu :)

    Not sure if this would make things easier or not, but you can import SVG files directly into Bambu Studio. If you do that it will also preserve the layer structure within illustrator if you wanted to do a single depth multi-material print you could. In this case it could have skipped the tinkercad step. I do really like that you're approaching your machines in such a different way, almost the way you use a vinyl cutter. Also, love to see you diving into Onshape, once you learn the CAD side its like a super power. Great work!

      I've had mixed results importing svgs into Studio. Sometimes they load perfectly and sometimes there are parts missing. I have also had limited success using the MakerWorld designer thing. Between those 2 and Inkscape/TinkerCad I can USUALLY get what I need done. Sometimes it's a struggle but every now and then everything just works. LOL

    • @WeekendBuilds

      @@Dave_D. Weird, I've not had any missing parts, I wonder if its in the layer structure from your vector software. I'm using illustrator with no issues.

      @@WeekendBuilds I'd imagine it has something to do w/ the structure. I can load the same svg into Inkscape and it seems fine. I usually user vectorizer...didn't want to pay for it but it seems to do the best job of anything I could find.

      I’ve also had an issue with more complex svgs. I had to use an online svg to stl converter and then import that into studio. Had perfect results that way. I haven’t needed to do so with simpler svgs

    • @Dave_D.
      @Dave_D. 3 місяці тому

      @@muchoman90 I think I've had trouble w/ simple ones too. If I recall, one was the old Buffalo Bills logo...a simple white circle as a background and a red standing buffalo. When I loaded into Studio, I just had a background w/ a void in the shape of the buffalo....I don't know where it went. LOL

    MACY!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I've never printed a 'stacked' svg as separate pieces. I have separated them and then stacked them back up in TinkerCad to print as 1 piece, which I think you did w/ your logo a while back. They all came out really good!
    When you change colors of parts in Studio, if you just highlight the part and then hit the # of the AMS slot, it will change it...just saves a cpl mouse clicks vs the way you showed. Not sure what happens if you have more than 10 colors in the AMS though.
    I use Onshape, it's pretty powerful for free. My brother uses CAD professionally to design multi million dollar machinery and when I have a problem and ask him, what he shows me in his high dollar programs looks very similar to what's in Onshape. The only downside is all of your drawings are public, if someone really wanted to find them. I believe you can subscribe for a private account.
    As always, another great video. Your production just keeps getting better (background music etc). Pretty soon you could just hang up selling prints and make more from YT! LOL

    • @macymakes3d
      @macymakes3d  3 місяці тому

      Thank you :) Trying to get better with each video! I didn't know that about switching colors, I'll try that next time. And I'm super excited to be learning some CAD. I'll probably upgrade my Onshape account once I get a little better because I definitely don't want everything public. Right now I'm not doing anything too intense though so free will suffice.
      UA-cam is definitely getting bigger, so we'll see what happens to the selling side of things ;) I still like being able to produce things but it does take up a lot of time that I could be using to make better videos. We'll see lol.

    I am very curious how you go about matching the colors in AI with the colors you actually have. Do you eyeball it, or do you have RGB/HTML color information for your spools? I know Polymaker lists HTML values for some of their colors, but not all of them.

    • @macymakes3d
      @macymakes3d  3 місяці тому

      Totally just eyeballing it. I get it close enough in the computer and then hope it comes together in the end. If it's filaments I've used before I kinda know how they'll print so usually it works out okay.

      @@macymakes3d I figured that was mostly what you were doing. I do know that some of Polymaker's products on their store site (US). Show hex codes for some of their colors. I've used those for the custom colors in Orca Slicer (Bambu Studio doesn't remember them for some reason). Otherwise I just eyeball it.

      @@macymakes3d Oh, so you only have 4 colors then 😀
      I didn't mean it badly, but you have 4 slots in AMS, and silica gel in it. Why don't you keep the filaments there? They would still be in a dry environment (that is, unless you store them differently).
      You fill the AMS with filaments and just choose which color to print. If you have several printers and you distribute the colors sensibly, you don't need to rearrange the filaments (you just remove the printing plate and put another one).
