- Big Country.
'Daydream Believer' live and at 3min03sec the first ever live performance of 'I'm Not Ashamed', April 23, 1995 more than a full month before the song was released as the lead single on May 27 from the forthcoming LP, 'Why The Long Face.'
TV show is from BBC1 Good Morning Summertime.
Amanda Giddens, hope you enjoy this newer version. X
Best quality so far of these clips.
Dedicated to my good friend David Browne. Recover well, old pal! ;)
Totally amazing , I love the original but this is great with Stuart and the guys , god bless you Stuart ❤
That hairstyle really suited Stuart too.
As a masive BC fan since 1983, I have NEVER seen this before! Brilliant! Thanks for sharing.
im always day dreaming when listing to big country!!
Listing, eh? To which side?
I remember Sarah Green. I liked her. Good presenter and nice.
Huge huge talent ! Sadly gone !
Just saw "The Buffalo Skinners" tribute band playing some BC hits in their living room and some further surfing led me here. I've never seen this acoustic Daydream Believer cover before but it has the same homely feel. Thanks for sharing Andy.
Thank you so much for all the rare gems!!!! It is so great to have some fresh BC with Stuart! I can thank you enough!!!!
Wow amo a está grandiosa banda☝️♥️
Best cover of that song ever.
Excellent !! Thank You Very Much !! Big Country not only Brilliant performing their own songs but extremely good at covers !! Always a Joy to see rare Stuart footage !!
wow this makes me feel good. I cry at almost every one of their songs, this makes me calm down and smile :')
cryin' only a little because of the bizarre non-reality that this video conveys - it portrays this wonderful quintessentially 90's vision of the band (look at his hair!!) that never really existed. It's nice to pretend and it's nice to watch him smile.
(ps: i love that while grunge was exploding at this time (95), they cover the monkees Daydream Believer, pure joy and punk as fk)
“OOOOOOOOOOOWWWWW”
First time I've seen the video brilliant thanks
As as massive fan, The first track is well iffy, fast forward and the second is proper Big Country....warm feeling of Stuart lighting up what we had....still miss him.
nice, they really tear into "I'm not ashamed"
Thanks for sharing .... Peace n Love x
Thanks for this... Can't beat a bit of BC
The only band that ever really mattered.
Wow that is different. Thank you so much for uploading this. So now I know I'd watch Stuart sing literally anything :) I love this old rare footage. Thanks again.
Thanks for posting, never seen this before. BC excel, as always.
This is amazing, thank you Andy xx
Showing a different side to the band,...great find..thanks...of course this was the censored version..should be Funky instead of happy..
Greatest band ever only with this line up though the mike peters yrs were ok nd today sad to say they are a karaoke act
Does anyone know what brand of tele that yellow one with the black pick guard that Stuart is playing is? He always sounds extra sensational when he uses that guitar. It rocks!
Now my second favourite version of this song. The Neil Diamond original is first and now The Monkees version relegated to third.
I think you’re thinking of “I’m a Believer”, which was a Neil Diamond composition. This song, “Daydream Believer”, was written by John Stewart.
@@andrewkarp5067 yep that's the one. Got a bit confused. Probably was having an off day.
Easy to do!
Something about Bruce’s location on set and the background that makes him look about a foot taller in some shots than his actual height. It’s a kind of optical illusion because he’s on that riser and your brain says he’s on the same level as Stuart who’s actually below on the central staging. There’s no obvious shading to separate the split levels so from some angles you’re eye is presented with a weird shaped, single slab rather than the two floor decks. As a consequence your brain says they’re on the same level and hence the height gain is imposed instantaneously..
Recognise the changes in Stuart’s phrasing on both tracks; definitely that twang came to the fore but gladly subsided later on “Driving to Damascus”.
Thanks for the upload, great stuff.
Nah, I very much like the Skids and Big Country, especially Stuart Adamson and I've also always liked Daydream Believer but this song just doesn't suit BC at all either musically or in image. Such a shame, though, that Stuart took his life, he was a brilliant talent and always came across as humble.
Yeah what an odd choice. They did it once at a gig, spur of the moment and it went down well so maybe that's why they did it here. Don't exactly know but that's my guess.
Such a shame Adamson Americanized his voice. His originaly vocal sound was passionate sounding. The post-PIOT vocals were fake-sounding.
I love Big Country and always will, this however is pointless, they don't need to do covers
ok, i love Big Country, but this is just BAD! sorry
Can't see/hear what you are poppy. They look and sound great. Love them! Thanks for sharing this BC1000stars; first time I've seen this.
let me be more clear. Im not a fan of the mid 90's Stuart Adamson. After the first few albums you can see how his personality changed and the "rock star" persona came forward. It just doesnt fit him. Its awkward to see him try to do solos and wear his shirt unbuttoned way down with the necklaces etc etc. I know this would offend alot of die hard fans but i grew up with them as a young teen and LOVE them dont get me wrong; but again, to me there was a change in Stuart that Im not a big fan of
I do see what you mean. I was a big fan in the 80s - I didn't follow them in the 90s and I'm definitely not a fan of the American accent. You clarified the 'BAD', so thanks. But as someone who will never know them personally, their playing and voices are good enough for me. x
i never got to see them live and that im very sad about. When Stuart passed away i was very upset. I bought an autographed Wonderland single lp that Stuart wrote "Stay Alive" on....and it hangs on my wall......RIP
poppyhimbo did you actually give this a thumbs down!? Unbelievable. Voted down for your take on Stuart's fashion sense. I've seen it all.
