Officially my favorite guitar gear review channel. Love the honesty and the companies don't seem to mind getting a tongue lashing for a 1/3rd of the video. In fact, they seem to encourage it with the demo guitars they send you. Many of your contemporaries could learn a thing or two about the value of honesty.
My Music Man St V is my favourite guitar. I love the look and it’s been endlessly inspiring. Possibly the guitar I would keep if I had to only do it with one. The Sterlings are fine, look great, like the finishes! I just feel that any HH from Sterling is pretty much the same guitar in different shapes.
This is one of the only times that being 5’5”, 125lbs comes in very handy. I’ve been an MM exclusive player after I was fortunate enough to take an MM factory tour w/ Curt Mangan in ‘98, who was Sterling’s right hand man until his boys were old enough to join the business. I played an Axis Super Sport w/ MM 90’s that was a prototype in one of their playing rooms and asked Sterling if I could have one EXACTLY like it. Two or so months later the guitar arrived and my love affair w/ MusicMan started. A couple of years later I bought an Axis Sport w/ humbuckers, coil splits & a piezo, which became my most versatile guitar. I played those two guitars for 20+ years and then saw and played the Mariposa, bought it, fell super in love w/ it and then went crazy and bought a Valentine and most recently a Sterling Valentine Chambered model, which I love as well. Lightweight, versatile p/u configs, and a push-push 12dB boost. The neck needed an adjustment to get the action where I like it but that’s it. Does it feel like an MM Valentine? No, it’s a little different but not in a bad way. Does it have the coil tap of the MM version? No, but honestly, I don’t really miss it. W/ the single coil in the neck, you can get great tones in the middle position. Gotta give Sterling some credit! If I can get a Sterling 3 p/u St. Vincent, I’m in.
The new ST St. Vincent (gold&burgundy) are gorgeous looking and they have 3 mini humbucker aswell ❤ But no sinked in backplates again. And a pricetag of 1.200€ here in Europe for a Indonesian made instrument 😮 That‘s a tough ask - very tough. Hopefully Musik Meyer get one for you to test again 🙏🏻
Mary Spender also has a Musicman limited edition in orange with a leopard print pickguard and knobs. She is very fond of it. I have doubted about Sterling version, but if I listen to what you are saying they should have done a little better to bridge the $2000 gap. The problem is: would people buy it if it was a 1k instrument?
I was thrilled with the design when I first saw it back in 2016 or 2017, but the Music Man price was way above what I wanted to spend. The Sterling is a nice option, although mine has 3 flaws: the string-spacing for the high e is VERY close to the edge of the neck; the pickup-mounting is flawed, the screws for the middle and neck pickup unvoluntarily turn AND the pickup selector switch is wobbly and unprecise. All rather minor flaws, but for slightly less than 900 €, there should be better quality control. Anyway I got a Music Man St Vincent secondhand lately and there is enough of a difference to justify going for the original. This one is perfect. The best neck I ever played, great and comfortable playing, no neck dive, great sounds. I'm still not willing to pay around 2900 €, but I got it for 1750 € and that's absolutely a bargain.
Hey Henning, I dont know if you have ever played the sterling luke model but they are awesome guitars. if you never played one you should definately get hold of one and review it!
That was actually misreporting early on that it was designed for a woman's body. She was making a joke about the guitar and the press ran with it and it kind of stuck. It was really just a take on the firebird explorer type body.
HP, I totally agree about the covers not being set into the body, it's a cheap ass move. The start of the video made me miss my Beagle, he died 6 months ago, a heartbreaker for us here.
I noticed your very sweet amp head display in the back, do you get any heat build up from the heads being so close to the wood? What amp switcher do you use on all those amp heads to go from head to head? Thanks.
Excellent and detailed review! No punches pulled. They should lower the price of each model, or really improve the quality. I'll pass. Cool looking, though!
I think this is such an iconic and cool design, whether it's EBMM or SBMM - they both work beautifully.

3:48 "Tonewood is a real thing I'm sorry."🙄
Love the red color. It has a vibe.
i asked for this a while back and i love that you did it
Excellent video, you gave the guitar a brilliant review.
I'm a traditionalist when it comes to guitar shapes but this is an exception
Such a cool guitar.
EBMM:
- neck/bridge - 11:18
- neck/middle/bridge - 11:27
- neck - 11:54
- middle - 12:18
- bridge - 12:42
SBMM:

- neck/bridge - 9:55
- neck/bridge (outer coils) - 10:15
- bridge - 10:25
I love my Sterling Cutlass with the roasted neck, looks like I'll be getting this one as well. Great video!! Thank you!
Nice guitars… just that body style would at the bottom of my list for guitars to buy. You’re awesome Henning! 🤘🎸

I love the MM version, and have wanted to get one since day one.
Only problem is - I am 6'2, 200#, so they look like a 3/4 scale guitar on me.
I'm 6"5' 210. I feel your pain.

It’s a great dadbod guitar! I thought it would be comedically small, but it’s a longer guitar than I expected.

Fantastic video, excellent new content!
Brilliant video as always and a gorgeous guitars...I prefer the one with the gold pickups. And yes her name is Annie Clark.
Maybe it's, "What the artist wanted if she couldn't get rosewood." So mostly true?

i literally just got this guitar today!!! it was sitting at my local shop, they randomly got one in so i grabbed it at 599 usd!!!

Ampete Switcher
I loved these guitars till they decided to get rid of the rosewood necks.. That was the coolest feature imo!
Are you the guy from Barry?

I liked the previous version a bit better. The 3 pickups were rather nifty.
Red hot rod! ;) Billy F Gibbons style...
honestly I think the Sterling StV60 sounds better than the Music Man version
The only downside of the USA St Vincent is that it accents what a fat blob of goo I am. Great guitar, though.
It's either 'bow tie' shaped, or an ugly explorer with the point cut off?
Should Music Man not be called Music Person now? is it inclusive enough?
ah by the way, respect for the honesty of your review!!
My two vin cents
Annie Clark > St. Vincent
Someone has a crush.
This is accurate.
I am confused
M n Annie sitting in a 🌳
Chedda knows what I’m blabbering aboot 🤣
