An artist like St. Vicent I would expect to have very exacting standards in a guitar. Good to see MM managed to capture quite a bit of that for their Sterling version.
Nice. I like the shape. I'm also a fan of mini-humbuckers. For me, my Paul Gilbert FRM300 w/3 mini hums is the bee's knees. I have a Sterling CT50 HSS in Rose Gold, and the build quality for such an inexpensive guitar is excellent.
I bought a black sterling a few weeks ago, so I'm surprised to see someone review it so soon after that. I think the neck and the playability won me over because I was not even looking to buy a guitar when I found this. All I can say is that I actually wrote a whole song on it the first day I played it after bringing it home. I was shocked at how good it is for the price. Your review is pretty much exactly my assessment. Thank you.
ooooooh, one of my favorite artists, glad to see this review. She rocks. Nice to see they got the price point down. Wow the tone control actually works. Probably not something I need in my quiver today, buy my daughter was looking at the original version and played in in a store once, but the price was insane. I'll share this video on to her. She particularly likes the sound of mixing in the middle pickup, and the light weight and neck profile.
I have a Tokai SG which is a perfect replica (if you know about japanese quality, you know) of the original early 60s SGs, which were then known as the new, totally changed Les Paul model. I have the SG Custom, the cream/ivory white finish with three humbuckers, (just like Sister played) so I named it Sister Rosetta Tharpe after her.
The string lights in the background look great! Although I am usually not one for gold guitars but this paint specifically looks fabulous with the body contours and how it emphasizes them. Is it a V shape neck still? Or did they change it? The rosewood fretboard at this price is surprising and nice. Overdrive sounds awesome on it and that feeedback!!! Really great they did this model justice and still doing good work with their models
Still have not seen any of these locally to try. Scale is a bit on the long side for my taste, but would be nice to have a hands on demo with it. In my mind, it's a guitar so distinct to Annie in terms of design.
The Last Dinner Party's Emily Roberts has drawn me to this guitar ... looks and sounds amazing ... as a 6 foot man I'll be checking the fit 😊 Do mini humbuckers cancel the hum as well as their bigger siblings? Great review / video Emily 👍🏻
Gah! I (probably) don't need another guitar, but I think I might need this one. I love St. Vincent and love the feel of Explorers/Explorer-esque guitars. I could never really justify the price of the EBMM versions as a hobbyist, but the price of the Sterling version is much more palatable and it looks/sounds almost identical. Really like the burgundy Velveteen finish, though the Cashmere version you demo here is nice too. I don't have a guitar with mini humbuckers... That means I need one, right? Right?!
About 5 minutes in you start playing a riff and I would swear it’s the opening them to the 90’s show the adventures of Pete & Pete, Hey Sandy by Polaris. Could be my warped brain though.
Honestly, i think its a cool ass guitar. I want to like it, i really do, but something about how like... unique it is to Her, keeps me from thinking of it as anything other than a guitar for a coverband player lol. Idk if that makes sense to anyone but myself. That said, this guitar really shows that Sterling is doing really cool things at the under 1k$ price point. This, the Albert Lee sig and the Mariposa are all cool, dank soundimg and premium feeling instruments. Added to the fact that the Cutlass is absolutely insane, in terms of value, along with their Stingray bass lines, they are proving to be a force in the market. This reminds me...the Mariposa in the pink color is absolutely dank as fuck and i definitely want one so God damn bad
The body shape on this guitar is just as iconic and instantly classic as a single cut les Paul, SG, or any of the vendor designs.
Totally!

Yeah these are a GREAT deal!
I love the body shape. It's like mid century mod cocktail party.
That's a great way to describe it😁
Love the bodyshape and the overall guitar ❤
Nice Demo! Strange, that we have to pay 1.200€ here in Europe 😢
It's like an updated version of the Gibson Sister Rosetta Tharpe Signature model THAT NEVER EXISTED, DAMMIT! Great video as always, Emily.
If anyone ever deserved a signature guitar....

@@Asshat237 sounds fabulous - I am very jealous!

Annie is a genius. And this looks fabulous.

Get out of my head!
Thanks for this review as I’ve been wanting to get this model .
Hope I helped somehow!

No it definitely is Hey Sandy by polaris. My band opens every show with it too get the smokers to come back inside
No one ever knows the song anytime I reference it lol. Good stuff.
How is the back of the neck finished? Great work as always!
Satin!
Nice.
@@GetOffset Hell yeah.
Probably totally an apples and oranges type thing, but could it be at all compared to the Fender Gold Foil Jazzmaster you've also reviewed?
Oo I think Joan was talking about one these
I think she has or was thinking about getting one of the originals as a sterling.
Yes! I was excited to see them at NAMM just after they were announced, the wine red one is really beautiful in person too!
Have a golden weekend 🤘🏽
Thanks, you too!
Dig the pedals but what amp setup are you using in this review?
Benson Chimera Mixwave plugin
I love that drive pedal!
It's absolutely great
What is the amp? Watch the smiles on middle to bridge pickup settings.
The want is real
Definitely
