I believe God created amazing and often surprising beauty in all of nature not only so that like would attract like in order that species would flourish but also for Mankind's enjoyment. God also made it so that certain people would have enormous talents for recreating that beauty... like you have. Gorgeous work!💙💚

This is a stunning piece! As I watched your painting process and narrative, it brought back childhood memories of admiring dragonflies in our yard. We have dragonflies, big ones, on the mountain in July. Sat one night watching them fly in the sunset, wings ALL gold in the evening light. We found one that had perished. Have him in my art studio for reference work. Amazing wonders of creation for sure!! BEAUTIFUL painting!!!
Beautiful ❤
Fragonfly is always a inspiration and is a animal diferent and with color that is a mistery.
I agree, it is an interesting insect! Thank you
Hello, I recently watched another artist do a similar dragonfly in acrylic. It was magical. I’ve never had much interest in watercolor painting. I had no idea something so detailed and intricate could be created in watercolor. Watching you create this beautiful dragonfly, seeing it come to life was amazing. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to create anything in watercolor, but I am definitely going to give it a try. Thank you for the inspiration! Just wonderful!
Stunning…..Dragon fly are one of my favorite Gods creations….you made a wonderful job….love it!!!😮😊❤
Hi Patricia, am new to your channel. I love that you dont talk all the way through your video or detract from your art with music. I love that you love to paint and to paint dragonflys...I love that you inspire 87 yr old ladies along the way ..... Go Hazel!!! very pretty thank you
I am really happy to inspire you on your art path, thank you for writing in and paint on!
absolutely beautiful and very well presented
Thank you Autumn!
Hello Patricia...I just came across your Channel and must tell you that the love and care you put into your painting of the Green Darner Dragonfly is so impressive! You are a brilliant Artist and I am so happy to have found your Channel...I've been a professional Artist most of my life but began in acrylics back in the 70s and not until these past 5 years have not had the courage to work with Watercolours...since then I have fallen in love with the medium! Watch other Artist paint brings me such joy especially when the Artist creates something so stunning as you just have with this painting! Thank you! It is a true pleasure to have met you....God bless, Rus from Bucks County Pennsylvania 🎨🦋🖌🤓❤️
Thank you much for writing Rus, you are from my neck of the woods. Bucks county is a fairly traditional area, nice to meet another art explorer around. But the contemporary reach is surely growing.
Fantastic! I love when they land on me!
I loved watching you create such a beautiful and colourful dragonfly
Well that is just plain out gorgeous! I love it.
C'est très jolie !
Exquisitely painted! I love the transparent wings and their shimmer, and the realism of the exoskeleton! 🥰🥰
Thank you, getting the anatomy was important to me too.
@@patriciaallinghamcarlson Yes, wonderfully proportional! 🎨
Wow, Patricia, you did a fantastic job. I'm very imprest and inspired. I had a great time watching your creation.
I enjoyed listening to you talk as much as paint....the salt trick was totally new to me and I am excited to try it.
Love! Thank you.
Thank you!
Absolutely gorgeous!! Great job on your research!!!!
Patricia: I have just started to learn water colour, being primarily an acrylic artist and I am fascinated by your description of what you learned about the dragonfly while you were narrating the video- I love love love the colours on the background, and on the wings- you did a spectacular job- and to see the effect of the masking fluid and the salt and the colour corrections you were making was simply brilliant!! you must be so pleased! I am at the basic tree shape, presently, and so what if they are purple!! love your painting. I hope to be that loose and intuitive with the colours, as you seem to be. hugs
Exquisite! [I agree with you about leaving out that 'scary-looking' bit in front of the eyes!!! 😱
Thanks, gotta make it look lovely, not creepy!
Magnificent
This is just exquisite! I love the colors, the masking fluid technique to make the white of the wings & your background! Great job! I've not done much watercolor but I'd love to make this!! ❤️
Thank you so much!
Hello, Excellent, detail water colour dragonfly created art. Thanks for sharing. 👋 Zz watching from Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you! Your country is beautiful!
Your dragonfly is stunning! You have completely captured the translucency and iridescence of a dragonfly's wings! Your channel landed in my feed tonight and I'm very glad it did. You now have a new subscriber. 😊 I very much enjoy watching an artist's technique.
A fun fact about dragonflies - they are very friendly and curious. They appear to be as interested in us, as we are in them! We used to have an aboveground pool and they would land on us, specifically on our toes, if we were floating on a raft. They would closely observe us for long periods of time with those mesmerizing, faceted eyes. They would often land in the water and become water logged and drown. I used to rescue them and set them in the sun so their wings would dry and they could fly away.
Dragonflies are ancient, some of the first flying insects, very little changed over the millions of years, other than they are much smaller now. Their colors are gorgeous!
Thank you so much for sharing your talent and creativity with us. 💜
I so enjoyed watching and listening. Your dragonfly is outstanding! I’m a beginner at watercolor but have painted in acrylics for 30 some years. If I ever get as good as you, it will be Dragonfly magic! I’m a Dragonfly lover!
Drop dead gorgeous 😍 I love how you captured the transparency, just beautiful
Exquisite ❣️❣️❣️
the color usage. thats so beautiful patricia.
Haven't seen a big dragonfly in many years here on Vancouver Island, just small one inch long dragons....until yesterday! I was visited by a huge dragonfly hanging around the parking lot where I work. My first thought was "I should paint the memory" and then I found you recommended. Thanks for such beautiful inspiration. I rarely use masking fluid so I'm going to try it on the next one.
What a beautifully jeweled colored Dragonfly….so many suttle color changes. There is a lot of amazing work done on this masterful piece.
That is exquisite! Thank you for sharing that with us.
Thank you! I loved painting it and learning while I did!
This is beautiful. I really enjoyed hearing your process. It felt very organic, and I found myself more and more interested in the work you were doing.

Wow, so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I was in Louisiana traveling and had stopped at a rest area. There was a huge wooden walkway and on my way back to the car. As I came around the curve there was a TON of dragonfly’s all hovering above the ground as if in formation. It took my breath away all the different colors. Just subbed
Beautiful. I'm going to do this on clear glass.. put the frame back on and hope it makes a Stain glass .😃👍🤞🤞🤞
Great idea!
Just magical! Love your rendition ❤️
Thank you!
Thank you Patricia, your painting is beautiful and a delight to watch as the colours and shapes emerge on the page.
