Life w/o parole?
@@CourtTV I believe that such a sentence of life without parole for such a youthful offender was too severe! I believe that life to 25 years would have been sufficient.
@@CourtTV I still think that the step-father had a hand in this murder. Maybe someday that will come out when Carly writes a book, for sure there is more to this murder than meets the eye.
Chip/video answered my question.
The jury got it right!!
Having mental health diagnosis like depression, anxiety, even bi polar does not excuse murder.
yeah do not forget the pot and the mindset of a teenager who just wants to get her way.
@@wendy1052 thank you for saying that.. almost every such cases bring in such mental issues to justify killing…. Its an insult to others who are suffering from such issues and much more..
It does when you're a 14 year old child put on new psych meds and despite that and having a psych history, your mom keeps a gun under her mattress and lets you know where it is.
@@FunderWindsurfTotally agree.
Nothing excuses murder BUT she was medicated . Some of those medications kill your conscience, make you numb....she should def be given help and a second chance when she is adult
She killed her mother and tried to kill her stepfather. Why the hell should you feel sorry for her? Plus, having a parent who is bi-polar doesn't mean the child is guaranteed to have it as well.
Also did her father shoot anyone?!
She was 14 at the time of the murder. It’s very possible she has mental health issues that may not have been addressed/diagnosed yet.
Lots of people are bi polar. They aren't murdering people.
@@Lisa.pizzza it’s very possible that there isn’t a damn thing wrong with her except her bad 🫏 attitude!!
100 % agree.
NEVER let her out. She is EXTREMELY dangerous to society.
@@Valturnaqueen yes! amen
True
She’s an attorney. Not a medical professional.
Lawyers like Actors are professional liars. They have to act like they know everything and explain the case despite the fact they don't. Despite that we the unwashed masses know that Carly was guilty, she is still entitled to due process and rights in the court of law. She is also entitled to a dogged defense and that includes using every trick they can think of to get her off or lower her punishment.
Well if you think a fkn nurse practioner with only 2 years of experience is an adequate mental health evaluator for a murder case, you've lost YOUR mind! IF you understood how drugged up she is right now..... she is lucky she could even sit up in the courtroom.
I thought the NP seemed a bit off as well. I dont think she was a very reliable witness. She had to read her notes as to when she met Carly and other things. Most doctors remember things and would point out things. She was just weird.
@@tinarakowski8382 hopefully they will appeal.
a goofy one at that. Stroking her hair like she is a toddler thinking the people would fall for that. LOL
Disappointed? she murdered her mother, she took a life!!
She was going for more lives. If she was an adult, her body count would of been astronomical. We're in a way lucky she's not an adult and her brain's capacity and power is limited. She's Scarier Than a Maniac Man on the streets with 2 AK47s
Yes,,,,can you bealive that? Disppointed ....omg...discusting....
I wonder why she did it?
@@pharsliderI think it’s because her mom found out about her “secret life” which had secret phones and weed pens. Nothing that would’ve mattered the next day. She reacted because she was upset in the moment, but with the stepdad, I’m not sure why he was targeted
Her mother wouldn't want to see her in prison for life.
Love the judge too! He doesn't play

Carly called her friend to come over and then asked, hey, want to see my dead mom!? Seriously? Wait here, Im going to shoot my stepdad. Run! Carly knew exactly what she was doing and how to go about it. Mississippi is charging her as an adult and her lawyers dont like that! They wanted 5 yrs and not life. @guestguest5128 That was diabolical and reminded me of Jack Nicholson in "The Shining". "Honey, I'm home!"
Well, she killed the mother, what are they disappointed about?
I get that. But even Susan Smith is up for parole!
And a video is available of what happened that day and how easy was for Carly to kill
And proudly showed the body to her friend!
@@Emer205 if there was a video of her pushing that car into the river, she would get the death penalty. Even this girl, if there isn't video footage of the crime, she would probably get a lesser sentence.

Appeal, did she give her Mum an appeal? So now she's crying but no tears for mum.
Since her mom was still alive after being shot, when she heard her and went back could have called 911. But I believe she put a rag on her face to make sure she was dead like in smothered. Never any remorse. RIP 🕊 to mom.
Fortunately appeal just means a group of judges reading court records. It's not a retrial.
There are thousands and thousands of people with mental health issues who don't kill people. Shame on the defense for further stigmatized mental health issues as being shameful, scarey and dangerous.
She knew what she was doing, very calculating. I'm sorry for all involved but I think the verdict was just.
Exactly
The mental patients I'm sure are more trustworthy. Whether she can be rehabilitated which they tried already with various drugs and failed. She will probably be more dangerous after a 50-year stint in prison. No parole please.
I have treated many people with bipolar disorder. Carly was not experiencing major depression, mania or hypomania. Even if she had bipolar as a diagnosis, she was not impaired at the time of the murder.
Sometimes mental health issues are indeed scary and dangerous. This girl is a shining example of that.
Thankyou! Exactly 💯‼️ 🙏🧡@@janetprindle2273
Zero remorse. Pure EVIL!
Sorry I'm not disappointed. I hope she does not get a reduced sentence. She said on paper that it's ok to do evil, then she called a friend to show her handiwork. She can now see where her evil is not believing in heaven or hell. And saying she doesn't believe in God gets her the rest of her life. Sad, but her father never killed anyone even though he has mental health issues too.😢
Exactly! Her mother will be in solitary confinement for eternity!
Life is life,. She knew what she was doing.
The community lost Carly?!! Really?!! She took the life of her mother and tried to murder her father!!!
She was still a child. Her religious beliefs are irrelevant. The sentence will be reduced. 20-25 years is enough. She's young enough to be reformed. Her mother wouldn't want her to be locked up for life.
@@upfulsoul826 they are relevant as they helped her decide what she did. Her beliefs directed her actions.

She knew what she was doing. These lawyers make me sick.
When you try to paint a murderer as a victim, it's the fastest way to turn a jury against em..
And they didn’t give any facts that would have made her a victim as sad as it is … the entire case is messed up the math ain’t mathin
@@keness4768 she's a minor of course they think minor should be able to get away with murder.
Yup. I love this jury.
I don't feel bad one bit for her
She was grinning after she did it and bragging because she was counting on leniency because she was 15. She knew what she was doing and kept grinning throughout her trial. Put her away for life. Her crocodile tears turned on and off at will.
Lol she could barely cry when they showed the court videos of her killing her mom. Only cried when she was guilty in court. POS
Carly: I was having a bad day, and "oops" shot my mom.
Daily, there are thousands of youth with severe mental health issues that DO NOT repeatedly shoot a parent in the face and attempt to hide what they did.

The guy who called it 'diabolical' was absolutely right. She shouldn't be out. She's a danger to society with those beliefs. Not too smart IYAM
Furthermore, she told a friend of hers, that she had 3 bullets for her Mom and 3 more for heath when he got home.

@@TrustbutVerify35 Mercy? Geezus, no wonder there's kids out there shooting up schools, because of 'understanding' parents. She can appeal. If her case is so compelling, it will be overturned. If not, it won't. BTW, Judgement Notwithstanding the Verdict means that the jury ignored every piece of obvious exculpatory evidence, and went completely against their oath to be impartial, and found a defendant guilty.
An example would be, a man is accused of murder and there's an eyewitness to a man standing over a body. The elderly man (eyewitness) claims it was the defendant. The defendant, however, was out of town at a wedding, and calls 10 witnesses to verify his location. The jury was shown the murder scene, which the defense claimed to be prejudicial and tried to have removed as evidence. The judge denied it. Defendant is found guilty.
Since the appellate courts only deal in matter of law, his whereabouts wouldn't/couldn't be in question. What the defense would have a right to argue is that displaying the murdered victim and gore, prejudiced the jury. This is why JNOV (Judgement Notwithstanding...) will not be honored, here.

This wasn’t a mental illness case. This was a case of a little girl who thought she was so special because she was smart and because of the loss of another child, the mother spoiled this one and she grew up, not being able to understand being told no, and to follow directions, and she retaliated against her innocent mother and killed her.
@@ZenDreaming60 really? If your statement is true then why is she on The Maximum dose of a mood stabilizer and an anti-psychotic ? And yes Bi polar and schizophrenia ARE Hereditary!
What an stupid and ignorant comment. You just provided a broad, and speculative general stereotype of imagined spoiled little girls anywhere. You don't know Carly Gregg personally, nor can you make your insinuation without knowing them personally.
I didn't see this trial, but she sounds pretty nuts to me, a well adjusted person does not murder in cold blood. She's missing some vital traits that make up a human. The public is probably safer with her locked up.
@ZenDreaming60 Testimony showed she wasn't spoiled. Her mother expected a lot of her and took away privileges. Her mother called her out on it when she found out about the marijuana and that's why Carly was enraged at her. This was not any fault of the mother. Carly is simply a psychopath.
Psychopath
Everyone can see no mental situation here. She knew what she was doing.
@@edithnogueira7899 them why is she on the highest dosage possible of a mood stabilizer and anti-psychotic them, Einstein?
Why not?
You most likely aren’t a licensed mental health professional, so why make a statement on such a complex topic.
@allywolf9182 Was she on these meds when she killed her? No. Even Autistics are not "insane" when they commit a crime. They go to prison. I can guarantee you that it's harder on them then bi polars. Why, because I have a 31 year old Autistic and he is on the highest dose of Sertraline and the anti psych med Abilify.
@Lisa.pizzza I am a retired licensed medical provider. I did not specialize in psychological disorders but am quite familiar with them. ONLY a very experienced forensic child Psychiatrist should have been utilized in this particular situation
Carly should have grabbed that plea deal offer with SO much evidence of premeditation!
that is bad attorney for you. She should have insisted she grab that deal
The attorneys sure dropped the ball on that one.
It's up to the client. They can try to pressure her to take it, but they can't force her. The girl just thought she was so much smarter and could fool the court system. She is a complete idiot. I don't see any common sense in her whatsoever.
yeah, imho, she was crying because she didn't take the plea deal!!! Plus, where did she get the OLD sleeping pills? I still think her real father had a part in this, not physically, as in the murder, but she would go over there to visit and her step dad said she wasn't the same girl when she returned. I wonder if she was getting high over there or stealing drugs from him!! Speaking of her step dad, i think Carly had him fooled, BIG time!! Her best friend was buying marijuana for her!! Marijuana does NOT make you kill a person! The insanity plea was a big fat joke! If she were to ever get out, i think she'd do it again!!
Her attorneys very mistakenly thought they could convince a jury, after watching that video, that it was all the fault of her mental illness. She was in complete control in that video.
There was no indication at all that she was bi- polar. Quite the opposite .
The male attorney seems more professional then the female one..... her trying to say it's unfair to the murderer to put them in solitary is appalling
Women tend to see themselves as "all women" especially in activist media. In her mind there is no difference between her and carly Gregg.
I am so sorry. This sentence was necessary for the safety of mankind.
I raised a daughter who is bipolar she never tired to kill me. She is 31 and has been on meds since she was 14. Stop using mental health as an excuse. I saw the video she looked in control.
@jasonrichards5854 She’s doing great. She’s not ashamed of it it’s part of her she’s very open about it. We were very proactive about treatment and learning everything would could about it. We test different medications, therapy and never made a big deal out of it, or pretend nothing was wrong. We also didn’t let her use as an excuse for bad behavior we held her accountable for all her actions. It’s not easy but millions of people live and function with it.
You’re lucky & blessed. My DIL tried to kill my son.
Maybe because you didn’t traumatize your child. They say her mom is bi polar and did not investigate how that home environment negatively affect the girl.
@@terribellettini450 You should feel very blessed,as you are. It doesn’t work out that easily for everyone. Something was definitely “off” in her mind. It’s also more difficult to diagnose and treat an adolescent who’s mentally ill opposed to an adult in their early twenties and up. Carly was obviously having difficulties since all we know is that she was acting out but her mother refused to put her on meds.(That’s my understanding). I think Carly should’ve had several extensive evaluations before the murder, especially since the mom denied her child the meds bc maybe if more evaluations were permitted then Carly’s psychiatrist could’ve possibly discovered a more severe diagnosis that would have required medication. Don’t get me wrong, bipolar disorders 1 and 2 are severe enough for meds for the person diagnosed and for people associated with them. But knowing that she wasn’t on meds before her mom’s death I highly believe that a thorough investigation should have been done within the family, other family members to describe the family, friends, teachers, and anyone who knew the step-dad. In the video of her in the kitchen after she shot her mom she may not have appeared to be insane, but she certainly seemed much “too normal” for committing a heinous crime and I find that to be very abnormal.People aren’t born mean. Something had to be going on at home or school that was maybe overlooked or ignored altogether. There’s a puzzle piece missing to why this happened and I can’t believe that she was sentenced to life without parole with so many unanswered questions. What ever happened to sending those who committed a crime to a mental facility so they could get the help they needed and be rehabilitated? This child’s life is over and there are grownups in prison for murder doing less time than her. I’m not saying she shouldn’t do any time,of course she should do time to learn that what she did was so wrong. She needs to come to terms with what she’s done and then she needs to grieve . However long it takes , Carly deserves a chance at rehabilitation .
@@alntr2872 Get your facts straight. No one testified that Ashley and Keith were anything but loving, supportive parents. It was her natural dad who was not in the picture who had mental illness. I knew a friend who took LSD in the early 90s and has never come out of the trip. It altered her mind forever. Now is that my friend having mental illness, yes. But drug induced is not something that could be hereditary and passed on. Carley Gregg hiding that gun from the view of the camera while she texted her step-dad is proof she knew what she was doing. Carly’s attorney’s are really milking the mental health angle. During an episode, Schizophrenic sufferers talk to themselves a lot, while bi-polar is serious mood swings, a lot of shouting, throwing things, being completely illogical-symptoms are very noticeable and the sufferer wouldn’t be able to act completely normal to anyone like we see her do on the home security cameras and the police footage. She moved purposefully, concealed the gun behind her back twice - when taking it to kill her mother and then when going back to the kitchen to retrieve her phone on the counter. Someone going through an episode of mental illness cannot even think logically, let alone plan things-they keep on reacting. They blow up, shouting and screaming, in a violent episode might hurt or kill whoever is in their path, and don’t stop until they are forcibly stopped or the episode ends.

I believe her lawyers pushed her to decline the plea as her defense thought for sure they had the ball in their court. Thinking they'd get her a softer sentence or off the hook. Her lawyers were arrogant and led her straight into a life sentence. Their appeals won't change the judge's mind.
Always a mental issue with them.
It is the trend now, that and racism is the new excuse 😢
@@AnaPower-ct3eh so invoked 1% of all criminal cases is a trend now?
Heartbreaking 💔 rip mom. Prayers to the family. 🙏😢💪💛
This sentence is absurdly out of bounds for a child
She committed heinous acts. Keep her away from the rest of us.
I'm not she's innocent, but Imagine How many people are sitting in prison if jurors are declaring people guilty over a single testimony and zero proof. Doubt Always benefit the accused
The way she did it
Sneaky and knowing where the camera was
And went back to the room
she heard her Mom pained agony and watched her die
Yes she deserves Life in Jail
Disappointed?? oh my God, if she wasn't sentence to life. A lot of people will be disappointed
I thought she was?
They wanted parole to be in the sentence... Outrageous @stacyn. No parole is the appropriate sentence. If she gets parole, even at old age, I'm sure she wouldn't hesitate to kill again, and also she can stop her meds too. Diabolical like Dr. Pickett said.
Carly planned this all out.. wrote that she wanted to be evil…at 15 you know what murder is. you know it’s wrong. she knew. don’t feel sorry for her
Suspicious that she let the camera roll durning killing of mom but took camera down before the shooting of stepdad , very strange. Why?
Interesting comment
That stepdad had the creep factor of 100! Something real bad was going on there. IMO only
I agree, something strange there with stepdad. Maybe it’ll come out now that she was convicted 🤷♀️
@Catlady52000 If there were anything to find, LE would have found it. No stone was left unturned. I think he is just a creepy, wimpy guy.
Something about that stepdad doesn’t sit right with me.
Carly i did truly want to believe you and in you. However when you look at the evidence and video, it is very clear.
believe what exactly? 😂
@@teenagekrabklub coming from a kid "teenager" no less. U do know that a cell right next to her can be arranged for U
Yes!
She never shed a tear for her dead mother.
Exactly she told her friends she hated her mom and was going to kill her so what she expected....I'm happy jury got it right
Lawyer chewing gum in court…WTH!!!!!
Sehr komische Anwälte...
It seems like what happened to Ashley Smiley was forgotten during this case. I think Carly is highly manipulative and is a dangerous young girl. I hope for societies sake she can be rehabilitated but I’m doubtful.
She is pure evil! She knew what she was doing and I will never understand how anyone can defend people like her! The jury made the right decision! I don't feel sorry for her at all I feel sorry for her deceased mother! Such a tragedy! She will have to answer to God for what she did! Never let her out!!!
