Being a firefighter/paramedic for 36 years that's pretty nice. You need to change the light bars on the roof and the mini light bars on the back to the correct single rotator on the roof and take the blue lights off the front and the lights off from under the bumper. I drove a Ward LaFrance like that on a volunteer fire department for a few years when I was younger.
Thank you Ken for your service! And I appreciate this comment very much. Mike specifically wanted those light bars and the blue lights, he talked a lot about them and how they were not exact to engine 51, but that’s how he wanted it. Although nobody else here told me why they were so upset at the way that it looked, I now remember that he added those 😇
I got to sit in the original engine 51 when it was in Yosemite and it was a thrill! I grew up watching the show so it was so great to see the engine and sit in it.
In California, only police have blues, so this fails in looking authentic. Aside from the yellow stripe, "Oregon", light bar, and a whole bunch of other differences... but it's cool that you're keeping the rig in working order
Yup! You may have heard in the video that Mike had some personalizations he wanted to make to the Engine, and now it’s with the Oregon Fire Service Museum. They’ll take good care of it 😀
Mike had his own ideas about how both of them should look, a combination of his own desires, the show, and LACFD. The museum he wanted them to be donated to now has possession, and will determine what to do from here.
@@BadIdeasGarage Okay and thanks. I love the show Emergency! too very much. I have the show Emergency! DVRed And watch it when I can. The Ward LaFrance is a beautiful Engine. I someday hope to go to the LA County fire museum. Love from Marysville, California KMG 365
I didn’t know anything about the show until I met Mike. I’m really glad he introduced me to the show and these fire Rigs. I also hope to go to that museum someday! Hi from Albany, Oregon. Have a wonderful weekend.
@@BadIdeasGarage Oh, I know. Someday I would love to go to the museum in LA myself. Maybe we will meet there someday. Love from Marysville, California KMG 365
The real E51 form the show served in a national park after the show then the LACo Fire Museum bought it years ago and rehabbed it and has had it to this day. This is not the real truck.
@@BadIdeasGarage "We start and drive THE famous EMERGENCY Engine 51"...yes it says replica, so it's not the famous E51 it's a replica. So why even call it the famous E51?

That’s so awesome! I would love to see the original someday. Thanks for sharing! And happy new year.
I'm so jealous of you
You get to drive two awesome peices of art/history thank you for bringing us viewers along
I am thankful I had the chance to drive these as well. Thanks for following along!
You really cant call it a replica. It is a Ward LaFrance and it is numbered 51, other than that...
Copy that, Chief.
oh don't upset him with minor details.
Between it and the 1965 crown, these are probably the most identifiable firetrucks out there
I’ve been learning about Crown! There is a 1980 here in oregon that needs a new home.
Never hurts to wave when you're driving an engine!
Hiiii!
I like both the vehicles, squad 51 and engine 51.
Thank you! They are pretty cool.
Too bad Ward LaFrance went out of business. I loved them rigs!
Saw it in barn in Yosemite too
Yup!

So are you planning on re-decaling it to LACFD, like the TV show vehicles?
Mike had his own ideas about how both of them should look, a combination of his own desires, the show, and LACFD. The museum he wanted them to be donated to now has possession, and will determine what to do from here.
Not the original
I think you should watch the video a couple more times ;)
Can I Drive the Squad 51 AFTER I GET MY EMT CERTIFICATION
I appreciate the shout out, but it’s no longer in our possession! Good luck with the rest of your studies!!!
Was your friend Mike Stoker from the series?
Both trucks are NOT the originals.
Nope! Not that Mike.
Now is this Mike (your friend) is this Mike Stoker who played on the show Emergency!? Just wondering. Love from Marysville, California KMG 365
Thanks for the love! Different Mike. I’m sure he knew of Mike Stoker though! He loved the show a ton.

Hate the steering wheel however.
That's what they used to look like back many years ago.
I mean, I really liked it. It was very helpful for….steering 🤪

Nobody said it was the real truck 😂
