All I can say is WOW! Your work takes me back to my childhood. 1972 when EMERGENCY came on the air. I was 7 years old and this show had a profound effect on me as I recently retired from the Fire Department as Paramedic Captain. Thank you!
Thank you very much ☺️ I believe this show had a significant impact on the future profession of many many more children back then 😁 And congratulations to your retirement 👍😎
This is beautiful work... I never would have guessed the base you built upon. Very nice scratchbuilding and details, right down to a very nice replica of the light bar (it was state of the art back then). A nice reminder from my childhood... Thanks for sharing the build!
Fantastic work! This is incredible! Loved the show ❤ At 50 yrs old I finally followed my childhood dream and became an EMT/FF....until I had an on the job injury and had to quit. Just subscribed tonight, looking forward to your future posts! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you very much😁 I really start to wonder if there’s a study on how many percent of the actual and former paramedics have been inspired by this show 🤔😂
I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS!!! I am 17 and I watch Emergency OVER AND OVER AGAIN!! It would be cool if this was for sale!! You went right down to all the equipment, the radio, everything!!
Engine 51 would look good sitting beside the squad inside the station. The interior wall station is spot-on really cool. Grew up watching the show and loved it. Have the series on DVD. Fantastic job great detail mad props.
Thank you very much ☺️ And of course I do have the complete series on DVD as well 😁 For me still the best emergency services ever, period 🤩 As for the Engine, it is planned but not in the near future, there are a lot of other projects that I want to finish and/or build first.
Just brings back memories when I was a child and remembering tell others kids I wanted to be a fireman and years later I joined my local volunteer fire co. and became a firefighter, served just little over 5 year until I gave it up to take care of my grandmother.
Thanks for your comment😁 And hearing your history makes me again wonder if there’s ever a study made about the influence of this tv show to the career choices of former, current and future paramedics🤷🏻♂️ By the response to this model car video alone, it occurs to me that in fact this show must have had, and still has a pretty substantial influence to the career wishes of many people 👍
Your model and backdrop are just out of this world! As a 58 year old volunteer and once career Firefighter/EMT, it was Roy and Johnny that set that stage for me, and millions of other boys my age! I recall a similar aged volunteer member of our department who collected autographs, brought his picture of Roy and Johnny to hang in our radio room. It was signed only by Randy Mantooth. Anybody know why? Anyway, the other members our age knew who they were. We knew we were 'old' when the 20 something year olds thought it was a picture of a couple past volunteer members! And back to the single signature..... apparently Kevin Tigh did not like to sign autographs!
Thank you very much 😎 „Look“ at me I wasn‘t even born when the show started but I surely know who Johnny and Roy are 😉 For such an old series it still amazes me how accurate, realistic and overall, simply not „Hollywood“ like this show was (is)🤩 So many emergency services related shows nowadays drift away from the main theme and turn into daily soaps with only a fire, police or EMT background. I guess the producers think with the focus only on the job such a series would very quickly become boring. Man the entire „Emergency“ series had practically no private, off duty, live of the main characters shown, and I didn’t miss it!! In today’s shows they think that emergency situations are not dramatic enough, they exaggerate incidents + the main characters have to have a dark, twisted, criminal past or whatever drama to make the show more interesting😕
@@noemsff4067 So true! Today's reality shows could take a few lessons from the producers of shows like 'Emergency!' I think it is really cool that the real fire station 127 that was used as Station 51 in the series, is dedicated and renamed in honor of Robert A. Cinader, who was instrumental in the production of Adam 12 and Emergency.
@@SPCLPONY He definitely deserves to be named on the firehouse! I‘m sure that his show took a big part in the success of the „new paramedic“ system in the US, at least it was the best advertising for this profession😎
@@noemsff4067 A friend used to be a firefighter at one of our busiest stations. I stopped by for a minute one day and as soon as I walked up AUGGGGGGGGGGG He says "jump in!" Now! Great job ! I do so wish a company would make a diecast 1:18 like that. Always wanted one but they were small diecast and usually not much attention to detail models. On the equipment first seasons had the blue and silver datascope moniter unit and the large blue and silver defib unit. Two separate pieces to carry. Later seasons those were deleted for the white large box datascope unit you have on top rack left. It contained a pull out moniter and built in defib unit (all in one carry box). Thanks for the video of your build !
Thank you 😁 And what you said is the exact reason why I started to build my models in the first place. There was, and mostly is, no manufacturer who builds this stuff that I liked to have😩 And since I wasn‘t able to buy the vehicles I wanted, I „simply“ built them myself😎
Well done sir. Well done indeed. Exactly the way I remember it. It looks like John and Roy are about jump in and rush out to save lives, and stamp out disease.
😂 Yeah that would be funny. But actually I’m thinking of making the whole station, the Rampart emergency vehicle bay as well as the matching „Mayfair“ Chevy Ambulance 😉. But this will be a Long term project (maybe also in a smaller scale, for space reasons).
Excellent job on the replication. I one year did 1/25 scale replicas of the cars from Charlie’s Angels starting with the Mustang II that Jaclyn Smith was seen in. It took plenty of donor kits to get all the details but it was worth it. I will say I had the hardest time getting a Ford pinto kit on eBay as I wanted to replicate the orange pinto I ended up doing two as the details were different from seasons two and three besides the second one was meant to represent Shelly Hack and Tanya Roberts. The Cobra II was not as cranky to find stuff for to get it right but oh it was a labor of love
Thank you for your comment 😁 And yeah to me it seems to be same way finding the right base for my conversions. It’s usually the wrong model year or version that I end up to alter before the conversion itself will be done. But hey that’s also part of the fun of doing these projects 😁😎
Omg you did a awesome great job paying attention to all the details of the squad very well done I'm a very proud of you looks really nice. I have an idea for you try to do the engine 51 next to it if you do that will be very nice.
Fantastic build. I've always wanted to do this subject in 1/25 or 1/24 scale but the unavailability of the mid-70's dodge pickup discouraged me. I like how you back dated the grill. I saw how one commentator said you were way off because of the year of the truck. Ummm you changed all of the necessary visible details to match the 1972 truck. The sheet metal of the cab was the same! Great job!
Thanks for your comment 😁 As for the lack of availability for these Dodge pickups I always wondered why there’s a wider range of GMC/Chevys and Fords around than Dodges 🤷🏻♂️ Allthough being a fan of this show I haven‘t thought of building the truck, but as I „stumbled“ upon the „Lil‘ Red Truck“ online I immediately thought that might work as Squad 51, with some alterations 🤔. And the decision was made 🤩 Until now, as far as I know, these ERTL Dodge Pickups are the closest match you’ll find for such a conversion😄
Thank you 😊 And I noticed, that I haven’t described this working step in my video 🤔 Apparently it’s a detail that is overseen on many other builds, I found online 🤷🏻♂️
There are no words to express what I think of your scratch build. Impressive, magnificent, amazing, spectacular, etc, are all an understatement of what you've created. I know that you said that you don't build these for other people, but I was wondering if you could provide measurements or if you have templates available? I have the base truck that I bought just for this purpose, but my skills are diminishing with age. Any help would be appreciated, so please let me know. You've done an amazing job here. So much so that still photos almost look like the real Squad 51. Keep up the great work!
Thank you 😁 And as far as I know either between shootings or at least between seasons, the squad was also used by the LACOFD as spare unit! But definitely at the end of the show it served several years as an active response vehicle before it went out of service. It was later purchased or recovered? by the LA County Fire museum.
The 'radio' in Squad 51 is a Motorola Motrac radio control head and a Federal PA20A electronic siren. What you built looks pretty close to the real thing.
Absolutely gorgeous job! The only detail that you missed was the fact that there is no DODGE logo on the grill of the real truck! Matter of fact, the series started with the chrome logo on the hood then they painted the logo red to match the body and if memory serves me right they finally removed completely towards the end of the series! I watch two hours of Emergency each day and I look for things like this!
Thank you 😁 And yes I know about the Dodge logo I thought I leave it on the grill since I didn’t have the DODGE letters to put onto the hood. But I guess they probably exist in that small scale meanwhile 🤔 Beside the logo I also noticed that over the years they added a small diamond plate part on top of the Front facing rear compartments. So you couldn’t see through the small gap between the cabine and the rear compartments anymore. Also later on they often put black tape onto the lightbar base and speaker housing, maybe it came loose or probably because of disturbing reflections while filming?🤷🏻♂️ And the front grill also changed over the years, at the beginning it was almost entirely chrome, whereas later on a black frame around the center part and the lights was added.
That really cool one thing though I think the cab of the truck had a bench seat not bucket seats! Also you know what would really set this model off actually functional lights!
I actually forgot about that🤣 anyway at least it has a middle section so that it looks like a bench😉 And for working lights that’s a very weak point with my abilities, I simply have no hand with electronics😫 That’s what really bothers me on all my projects I would so much like to light them up!! BUT I’m working on it 😁
@@noemsff4067 this would be very basic electronic, you can get very small led lights and to control and power them you could use an Arduino micro controller that can be easily programmed to do anything you want. It would've been outta this world, if you had built the Truck to scale size with the Mego looking Johnny & Roy dolls from the 70's!! HA, Then the price of the truck would be something like $400.00 or more if you were to sell it. But this was a very cool video,...Great Great work on the gear.
@@noemsff4067 Yes & No. It was nothing like what you built. The truck back then had the doors open to fit the guys inside, & that was it. Their gear was very Minimum compared to what you made.
Thanks for the comment😁. The building progress on the lightbar starts at 3:41 and for the materials I first „vacuum formed“ the lightbar casing by using 1mm clear acrylic sheet, heated in the oven and then placed over a 1x1cm diameter wooden rectangular rod. The „vacuforming“ requires a bit of error and trial. BUT you may also find some blister packaging, for example for pens, pencils etc., that may suit as well😁. Other materials are clear decoration gems as rotator lenses and 0,5 or 0,75mm white styrene parts for the reflector parts.

It would've been outta this world, if you had built the Truck to scale size with the Mego looking Johnny & Roy dolls from the 70's!! HA, Then the price of the truck would be something like $400.00 or more if you were to sell it. But this was a very cool video,...Great Great work on the gear.
Thank you😎 Yeah I guess those dolls won‘t fit this truck 🤣 But didn‘t they have a matching truck back then🤔?
@@noemsff4067 Yes & No. It was nothing like what you built. The truck back then had the doors open to fit the guys inside, & that was it. Their gear was very Minimum compared to what you made.
“ any chance you sell them?” I would love to own your piece of fine work!
Sorry it isn‘t for sale.
Amazing work! Excellent detail!😎👍 how long did it take to build?
Thanks for your comment 😁 Over all this build took me approximately 6 to 8 months or so, I actually can’t recall it exactly 🤔
Beautiful model, man. I wonder how’d you make the light bar?
Thanks for the comment😁. The building progress on the lightbar starts at 3:41
and for the materials I first „vacuum formed“ the lightbar casing by using 1mm clear acrylic sheet, heated in the oven and then placed over a 1x1cm diameter wooden rectangular rod.
Outstanding
Thank you 😊
Can’t wait to do this someday but where did you get the Decals
I made the decals myself. They’re printed on a clear decal sheet and then placed onto a reflective self adhesive sheet.
How many hours did you put in on this, its cool as hell
Thanks for your comment 😊 overall about 8 months 😁
