The Best Costume Design For Vampire Movies: The Lost Boys.

- Happy Halloween! Well, not yet, but we're almost there! Today's video I'm going over one of the best (if not THE best) Vampire movie when it comes to costume design: The Lost Boys. With an amazing 80's cast like Keifer Sutherland and Corey Feldman (before he went crazy) this movie may not be the scariest movie you'll see for the holidays but I will say its probably the most stylish. On a technical note I'm sorry about the audio, I'm in the process of moving and don't have a great set up.

Ah! Yesyesyes!😆 Not enough people talking about the costumes in The Lost Boys. As a California native and someone who visited the Santa Cruz boardwalk several times as a kid, this movie holds a special place in my heart. ❤️ I've always loved the aesthetics of 80's mixed with west coast boho and punk. It's so unusual but so familiar too.
I couldn’t agree with you more. The fact that they really went all in with the customization/DIY is what really sold me.
Your costume/outfit aesthetic breakdowns are fantastic! From one creator to another please continue to make these. I’m a photographer & costume design is a big part of my work so when I found your channel and the detail you added to your videos I immediately new you had respect & dedication to this craft.
This means a lot to read. Thank you, not everyone understands the detail that I try to add in and it mean's cloth that you noticed. I enjoy doing it which is why I put so much effort into it. I'll be keeping them coming as much as I can!

This video is so cool, I’m going for an 80’s vampire look for my prom so this was very helpful. I actually have some theories on why david’s got so many layers on, the most obvious being he’s only up at night, which means he doesn’t have to contend with the california sun. he also may be using the layers to bulk up a little and make himself look bigger and more threatening. My favorie, however, is that because he’s a vampire, he might permanently feel very cold, and wears a thermal shirt and heavy jackets to compensate.
HOLD UP THATS AWESOME THAT YOU DID THAT FOR PROM!!! What did you wear/going to wear if it hasn't come up yet? I never thought about it but because he's a vampire and technically dead it would make sense for him to feel/be cold all the time.

My prom was a few days ago, I wasn’t able to stick as close to the source material as I would’ve liked at the risk of overheating (unlike a vampire, I constantly run very warm lol), but I wore a Santa Carla tank top that I cut myself, some baggy black pants, and my favorite pair of combat boots, which have bat wings attached to the laces. Smeared some fake blood around my mouth, wore a cool pair of bat wing sunglasses, as well as a single dangly bat earring in one ear. I’d say I came out looking like a pretty okay mix of all the Boys’ styles. I’m definitely gonna spend some more time on it after I graduate, beacuse I’d love to be able to add more and more details. But yeah, it was a super fun look, I definitely stood out and I felt super cool! Thanks for making this video, it’s awesome and really helped with my creative process!

I would do anything to get to own Marko and Dwayne’s jackets. Those are some of the coolest modern day fashion designs I’ve ever even in movies along with devil wears Prada.
Both of their jackets were so awesome! This is a controversial take but I don't remember being amazed by The Devil Wears Prada's costume design. I need to rewatch the film though.
Joel Schumacher is one underrated film director. The set designs and costume designs for lost boys and his Batman movies are stunning.
He started out as a costume designer! That's why his movies are so aesthetically pleasing

Sam also wears Magic Johnson "Converse Weapon" high-tops in the scene where he's running on the boardwalk with Nanook. So he seems to be a sneakerhead too! I actually had a pair. They were released in 1987. Love your commentary. I was 13 when this film dropped and I always loved the clothing. Paul's look was my favorite.

I’ve definitely thought about it, it’s a bit intimidating though lol If I’m recalling correctly a lot of it is womenswear and I’ve focused on menswear for most part. But I’m sure I will get to it one day!

This video is great! I've always thought this movie was cool, but now after re-watching it recently, I've really come to love and appreciate the fashion in it, especially Marko's outfit, like damn its so creative and badass cool! I love this video, keep up the mint work!
Yess, someone talking about the amazing costumes in this movie! Loved your breakdown of all the characters and the attention to detail ( the old watch as a button is such a cool little tidbit I hadn't noticed that). I think Laddie is actually wearing a bellboy jacket which i found super interesting because it's probably smth the found in the sunken hotel ruin the lost boys use as hideout and I think that's a very nice touch. Great video
I loved the costume design in this movie and probably the best out of all the vampire movie. Nice eye on Laddie’s jacket! I think you might be right on that, it looks like a bellboys jacket. The details in this movie were so fun, it’s what made it in my mind!

You’re breakdowns are awesome! But I’m disappointed that you basically bypassed Star. Her style had a very unique gypsy influence with her flamenco shawl, Indian/gypsy/Jaipur skirts with sequins and shisha mirrors. Star also wears a Spanish inspired matador/balero jacket… really should’ve been touched on. She’s soooo gorgeous!
I know, looking back I wish I did. At the time I was staying away from women’s clothes almost all together. She has great style!!
