I bought mine a few months ago and I absolutely LOVE them! Their sound is unbelievable and the noise cancellation is superior to anything I’ve ever tried.
I love that they are flat cause I actually sleep with mine on and they don’t bother me. Also, the battery life is beyond amazing!!!

Strange you mention sleeping with them. I needed to sleep with mine once because my smoke alarm needed a new battery and because it was located at the highest height in my “cathedral ceiling living room and because I did not have a ladder that would reach it until I purchased one the next morning-I needed the noise cancellation ability of my AirPods Max to cancel out that annoying persistent smoke alarm beeping noise - just to get some needed sleep that night. Grin. And they worked fine.

Call me crazy but I don’t like my AirPods Pro 2 that much. I started using my 1s again. In a noisy environment on calls people can’t hear me at all and the audio drifts so badly from left ear to right ear.

Never saw the appeal of them in the first place. Apple, much like every company needs to be reminded just because you can doesn't mean you have to.

I still use mine and I really like them!
I actually think the ear cushions are great for comfort and seal and the weight doesn’t bother me at all (coming from lighter headphones) but I usually only use them at my desk - usually for 6-9h over a work day.
My only gripe is the headband fabric that has stretched and doesn’t provide the comfortable support it once did (now the frame rests directly on my head without the cushion effect). A better design for the headband would be nice.
Also I would be great to have more bandwidth (whatever it may be) in order to play proper lossless content.
If they release a new version with those improvements I will immediately buy them.

    1. Apple does have headphone experience. They bought it (Beats).
    2. Those in the Apple ecosphere are not going anywhere. This is where they shine and the metal build differentiates them from the Beats line of products.
I’m personally not a big fan of ANC unless you’re in an environment that makes it necessary. I also think that using a Bluetooth Dac/Amp with a wired headphone/iem yields better sonic results.

Just checked my Apple Card payments for a date. I purchased my green AirPods Max on April 2, 2021 - so basically I have been using my AirPods Max for a little over 2 years. Bullet points to report: They fit perfectly on my head & I wear glasses. Can't say that I suffer the same "tilt the head back and they shift location on the head" that Jason reports. Never had that problem. Also, weight was never an issue with me - perhaps it is the nylon mesh band design that accounts for that feeling.
Jason is right - being really invested in the Apple ecosystem, one of the main selling points for me was the total integration into my home setup that includes (Apple TV, Computers, iPads, Monitors and iPhone devices). Being able to switch audio exports effortlessly from any Apple device to my AirPods Max was and still is a major "quality of life" asset. Having a wireless (mostly) headphone user experience was what I desired over the better sound reproduction offered by other premium WIRED headphone products.
I knew Bluetooth reproduction could never offer the full spectrum of frequencies other premium wired headphones offer but - with the addition of spacial audio capability and Dolby Atmos processing added to Apple supplied Music selections, I must state that I have not missed that full frequency spectrum capability. Besides, my 70 year old ears (once audiophile caliber) really couldn't appreciated uncompressed music it once could in my younger days. (An honest assessment sadly.)
At the time of purchase, the AirPods Max noise cancelling features were "state of the art" and that was another big asset I appreciated - especially on air flights.
They fit comfortably on my head over several hours of continuous use. Although I have experienced once or twice in my two years of use the "inner condensation buildup" reported by some users, I think that those times might be 3 or less. (can't really remember)
All told, I will still keep these headphones as my primary headphone "cans" for the foreseeable future.

I love mine for watching movies that have Dolby Atmos and that’s about it. I use a iPods Pro for what, you said about switching devices during the day but have two pairs since the battery won’t last all day. Finally, I have a premium lossless DAC and amp with some Premium headphones for listening to hi-res and lossless music when I have time to relax. I would have been great if Apple made the Maxs do all that.

I have the Sony XM3 but thought the AirPods Max sounded so much better than the Sony or a couple of Bose I also had used. The sound was so much more “airy”. I’m still enjoying the AirPods Max due to their great sound. My Sonys have started to squeak when moving due to all plastics. Nothing like that with my Max. However, I would have liked them to be more portable/foldable and have a good carrying case. I would also like them to be able to be simultaneously connected to several Bluetooth products, which would make the much more usable at my work with a Windows PC. Their fit is very good for me, but some weight reduction would be preferable. And give us an on/off switch to use if we want to.

The Airpods Max are absolute trash. I bought them when first released two years ago. They lasted less than one year before they stopped working, at which point Apple replaced them with a refurbished pair. The replacement headphones lasted less than a year before they stopped working. In both cases, it was the same issue. The headphones stopped connecting. Besides that, the ear cups will have buildup of condensation after listening for longer periods.

I don’t use mine for music because they sound awful. However, I use them to watch movies late at night, rather than using my home theatre. IMO I think they are great for film. I don’t think I could wear them for more than 3 hours. I have owned lots of consumer headphones and think if they were more light weight and cost less they would be some of the best consumer headphones out there.

I tried the AirPods Max once when I was at a Best Buy, I didn't feel inclined to buy them but I did want to try them at least once; to understand the hype. For me, they were the most uncomfortable pair I had ever tried, the ear cups were heavy and the bottom pole of the cups were tight. As for ANC I wasn't impressed and I thought the Bose and Sony's XM5 were better. In terms of sound I have heard better from my wired headphones, Meze 99 Noir.
My own conclusion is that Apple's AirPods Max are not up to the hype. Just comparing them to my sub-$200 headphones they lose in terms of comfort and sound. For the more tech and life-improvement features my pair of XM5 do a better job. To each their own and liking the AirPods Max isn't a bad thing, especially if it integrates well with other Apple products. However, outside the Apple ecosystem the AirPods Max they are not that great and you can find better headphones at a better value. That is just my own opinion.

I just sold my AirPods Max. I had 3 main issues first of all my ears use to get sweaty cause of the aluminum materials and the texture of the earcups. Second of all the AirPods Max use to always fall of my heads while sleeping because of the weight it holds and last but not the least the AirPods Max use to give me irritation issues.

Only entering the darkside a couple of years ago with apple gear , I was looking for some decent headphones at the time and did look at the air pods max , but to me they have some cons that where deal breakers , for a start no on off switch , and the stupid case , and I actually like buttons to interface with , and not to mention the price which in my neck of the woods is nearly that of comparable brands that don't have some of the poor design and IMO are better featured and priced .
I ended up going with some Bose phones which are quiet good and pretty comfortable , at nearly half the price (of the apple unit) which have more practical features as far as interface and general controls , the Bose phones have excellent battery life , I can wear them as wired or wireless , and they are relatively light , and I don't seem to have any moisture issues in the ear cups as has been reported by some AirPods Max users.
I would have liked to use the made for apple phones if they where a bit less gimmicky ,and I would have been prepared to pay the exorbitant price apple wants for them if they where just a more complete set of headphones.

Thank you, Jason, much appreciate your opinion! I was thinking to switch to AirPods Max and your video came up as an insight. When I needed to buy a new pair of wireless headphones I just got Sony WH-1000XM4, because it is indeed the most popular product and it is much cheaper than AirPods Max. And I have never regretted it. That headphones are not the best in anything, but it works for me and it is comfortable enough to make me realize that I wear WH-1000XM4 almost the whole day. Still, I had doubts that AirPods Max with all my Apple devices would work better and your video eliminated them😄

HUGE WARNING for those who are looking to buy AirPods Max and for those who already use them!!! These headphones are made with a MAJOR ISSUE which is CONDENSATION! Check out the comparison of Apple headphones and you will see that because of this MAJOR ISSUE Apple even started to specify the SWEAT PROTECTION (not even water protection) in the MOST EXPENSIVE headphones on the market! Which makes them the MOST UNRELIABLE headphones on the market. The mistake that Apple engineers made is the aluminum cups, which are causing condensation inside the ear cups.
I bought my AirPods Max a year ago and now they are DEAD! And if you didn't purchase the Apple Care, than be prepared that the repair cost is going to be almost equal to the price of the new one!
THIS IS A SHAME FOR APPLE!
I highly recommend to NOT BUY this headphones, and for those who already did that - SELL THEM as soon as possible!

It is a bit odd that you figured out these things only after 2 years and shortly before the new AirPods Max will be released, which you for sure will buy again.... 🤔 I use them daily for extended amounts of time, yes, they are not the lightest but it was never an issue for me, I find them very comfortable to wear and I love the sound quality and the noice cancellation. I hope with the new version they integrate a communication protocol that supports lossless, but otherwise they can stay exactly as they are. I understand we all have different tastes and a different shape of the skull and ears, so I can very well understand that it is not for anybody, but to create this video after you had and used them for such a long time smells so painfully like clickbait that is hurts 😉
