Dylan's live versions of this song in '78 (he's never performed it since) had a brimstone fury and an apocalyptic 'end of times' feel. This version couldn't be more different, but it has charms of its own. It draws you in, makes you think, and reflect. I liked it a lot. It is less a cover than an uncovering. As such I think Mr Dylan would approve! Robbie Fulks makes it his own.
Thanks for posting this transcendent performance. The audience for this performance was visibly moved. I know I was. Robbie recorded his own version of "Street-Legal" two years ago. It is only available on vinyl; gotta love that irony considering the "sonic " quality of Bob's album in 1978...There's another version you may find on UA-cam; posted maybe six years ago, of Robbie with other musicians and instruments nailing every verse with a different yet equally sublime arrangement. What a courageous song to sing.
Beautiful
