Even if it was the only one song Bob Dylan had ever written, he would deserved the Nobel Prize. Now, the singer raises it's category to the sublime. I love Signe ❤
This is the finest interpretation of this great song, or any Dylan classic that I’ve ever heard. It revives with an original freshness that’s usually obliviously missed in most garden-variety ‘cover’ tunes. It’s a perfect example of the difference between a ‘cover version’ and an artistic interpretation.
I bought "Street Legal" when I was just a kid now, something like 45 years on Signe and the Salmon Smokers revived Changing of the Guards. Beautifully sung and arranged, this is so enjoyable!!
can't tell you wat this song Does to my soul. OMG incredible ( Dylans) lyrics so Clearly articulated & conveyed with t right urgency & passion..Well done S.Marie..like a sword thru my hesrt, into my Soul. Is a prophetic vision of TODAY.
Stunningly & Nobly sung...for me, this will Always be Bob Dylan's Masterpiece of All his Brilliant Song...Signe Marie does his song great & moving Justice. Bravo!
Love this version. Beautiful... even better the second time 'round. This is a very very long Dylan classic that is hard to stay focused on. However, this chill lovely vocalization with a good wall o' sound helps.
I've always liked this song, but this version brings out the story so much more... like a painting unfolding with each verse. Going to be difficult to go back to version on Street Legal. Amazing.
Yes, a wonderful analogy. It has the clarity of a painting. I don't remember ever hearing the Jupiter and Apollo line before, and I've hear this song hundreds of times. Knowing Dylan's interests in Rome and recognizing he's intentionally mixed a Roman and Greek god, it emphasizes another Changing of the Guard. Especially today, as the American empire collapses. Yet the tranquility in this version reminds me of an elegy, a kind of Poussin painting. That said, Dylan's version is also a painting. More like Hieronymus Bosch. The images come so fast we can't absorb them. It's chaos. Coming after Blood on the Tracks and Desire, much of this album felt surreal to me at the time. That said, I virtually never think any cover is better than his original version. Unless he covered himself. Even Hendrix and All Along the Watchtower. Even if Dylan himself disagrees.
Excellent version!! Wow. Could have fooled me Norwegian? You look Irish, you sound American, and the whole package is beautiful. Loved it! 10,000 Swedes running through the weeds chased by 1 Norwegian!! Lol
Brilliant version. I’m a big Dylan fan but always struggled with the arrangements and production of this song on Street Legal. Think it takes away from a great song. This version lets it shine. Fantastic.
@@8chk92 I know I don’t like the overall production and arrangements on that album. Only one I like is Tales Of Yankee Power. The album sounds like it was recorded in a wet cardboard box. I’ve not heard the remastered version but I’m guessing a lot of work was needed to brighten it up.
What a great version of such a beautifully written song. Great slide playing, really enjoyed this. There are few Bob Dylan covers that actually makes the words and music justice, this was great!
I've been listening to this every day since UA-cam recommended it to me. It's one of my favorite songs and I can't believe how you managed to cover it in a way that aligns so well with my personal experience/understanding of that song. You are wonderful!
Please, EVERYONE, do not limit yourselves exclusively to this Signe performance, find other songs, videos etc., every place you stop will fill your heart and soul, she is an unparalleled singer, dancer, performer. Bob.
Am SURE Bob is VERY Pleased with this Stunning Tribute to his Beautiful & far seeing Song. Its Message is Xtremely PERTIENT to Our CURRENT Political Quandary & Indicates the Critical Decisions Not only Our Nation but now All Humanity. "Get Ready FOR Elimination, or else Our Hearts MUST Have the COURAGE for the Changing of the Guards." Dylan's glimpses of t future are often CLEARLY that of a see-er & revelator of things in t future that are lining up to come (in Heaven's timing)..& just as prophets of old Warned of Imminent Disaster, Dylans lyrics often Warn of t Consequences of our Own Society:s ILLS & our Rebellious Ways Against Divine Directives & Even Good Sense-- whichbNow are Completely IGNORED or 'Tossed OUT' as Archaic. How Many can see it ALSO as Dylan SPELLS IT OUT, I really Wonder ?
Thank you for wrestling this properly moral response of yours, Janet Webb into your expression responding to this inspiring inhabitation of Dylan's Changing of the Guard. You are to my understanding in touch with the Hebraic Prophetic tradition, which as I often discuss with my many different varieties of Christian song-chasing friends, some who've been lost down rabbit holes of Preacher Prophecies miss the essentially CAUTIONARY quality of that distinctive Hebraic prophetic tradition. The Old Testament mytho-poetic scriptures are not, as too many opportunists or doomsayers suggest, narratives of pre-destination of apocalypse or timetables of End Times. From Jonah (God with a sense of humor and concern for all peoples, not just those chosen for scriptural narratives) to Jeremiah (funny since there is no "J" letter or sound in Hebrew (!) Jeremiads were not intended to be predictive. Most definitely not Jimmy the Greek giving Las Vegas odds on human annihilation or messianic travel plans. Unlike these Preachers I have no direct line to our Maker and wouldn't dare adopt a rhetoric of certitude about what any scriptural prophecy means. Nor would I trust any human coming along claiming to have God on hold on line 2 passing along Divine Exclusive directions and Revelations of Divine Intentions. The tone in Hebrew however is simple language and singularly "Cautionary" and not Predictive. Not for nothing the Hebrew Prophets won few if any popularity contests. Like journalists they held up mirrors to their own communities and urged correction of clearly inhumane communal actions, mis-leadership and behavioral conduct unbecoming of humanity. There is only the sense of a seer conveying a vision of a Maker who made creatures with Free Will and agency over their lives, of responsibility over one's and the community's actions and policy outcomes. Certainly more than we get in our Washington historical record. Sending human (therefore fallible and therefore a cautionary of the cautionary about False Prophets and False Prophecy) direction to reconsider where unseemly behavior and communal conduct that is recognizably inhumane will lead, with time and attempts to persuade the community to reconsider abominable behavior and to repent and be redeemed before a unified representation of a God of compassionate mercy. Except for Jonah sent to convey God's message to the leader of the mighty nation of Nineveh (northern Iraq, Assyrian country) the Hebrew scriptures of the Prophets are mostly self-criticism for the people chosen to be exemplars for good and ill, not chosen for any special hierarchical or merit-based positions. Certainly not to be Lording it over other similarly fallible humans created with finite horizons and sensibilities trying in our bumbling ways to serve an Infinite and Ominscient while Omnipresent unified Maker concerned with all communities of Creation. That we live on a Food Chain not of human design should be humbling and certainly is confusing. Good artists get that, without becoming paralyzed or passive in the face of the abuses mytho-poetically conveyed in that cautionary Hebrew tradition in Dylan's gospel inspired and clearly African American slavery template that is the sub-text for Changing of the Guards... Dette er bedre enn selveste Dylan. Wow!
OMG, what a wonderful version of this song. Wow, just great, I love Bob of course but this is a new presentation of this song. I wonder if Sara would have sung it something like this.
There have been many great covers of Bob Dylan over the years. This is at the top. Mesmozing. This was a great song but without a solid musiclal arrrangement. In due part because of the unorthodox chord structure. Signe, you made those who were fluid in English the ability to interpret the song, and you are Norwegian.
the words create so many iconic phenomenons and emotions that we cannot comprehend the message of the song;;; It is great , it is magnificent, it is Homeric, it is hope , it is despair, it is left in our hand to decide,..... sadly we may decide wrongly sadly we may decide correctly , both are fraught with despair and hope. I am a poor substitute for BD. What do you take from the words ... what do you take from the music.. I think the fallibility of man?

agree a gem
Its pretty damn good
I love this song of Bob Dylan. She sung it with her heart, very good.
Fantastic interpretation of a stellar song, the band is excellent
Best cover of this song ever. No contest. You bring a rare thing to song - drama, and the painting of a picture, or perhaps more accurately, a movie.
I bought "Street Legal" when I was just a kid now, something like 45 years on Signe and the Salmon Smokers revived Changing of the Guards. Beautifully sung and arranged, this is so enjoyable!!
I’ll say it again. She inspires me every time I listen to her sing ANYTHING ❤

This is the BEST cover of this MARVELLOUS song.
Listening to this song since 1979. Great version.
purely beautiful, thank you for a wonderful version
Love this version. Beautiful... even better the second time 'round. This is a very very long Dylan classic that is hard to stay focused on. However, this chill lovely vocalization with a good wall o' sound helps.
I have always loved this song, and more every time I hear it again.
Fantastic Dylan cover. Every second, I expect her to burst into full force Norwegian.
That would be beyond awesome.
The highlight of that evening & a fabulous cover of a remarkable song! 🌹
Genius song. Genius performance.

Think I just fell a bit in love with Signe Marie...😍
Great tune, great rendition! Thanks!
I was forever in awe of writing of this but it has never made me cry. Thank you.
I think Bob would step aside during one of his own concerts and let her sing this song and just listen in awe and appreciation. ❤
This is one of my favorite Dylan songs. Signe Marie's performance is great! The best cover of this song! Love!
Signe Marie! 😊 Vanvittig flott tolkning av Dylan fra 1978
Har hørt Dylan i 40 år, denne versjonen setter jeg veldig høyt!🤘😊

Listen to Patti Smith's version. Rustad does ok, but Patti KILLS IT!!!
I liked that whole album when I got it, when it was new. It was so different from Desire.
@@MrNegative57 I could never get into it. Love Desire. Fantastic album.
Great cover version, it's one of my favorite Dylan songs. Some of the best lyrics of any song I have heard.

A good song. Dylan's version - on Street Legal - sounds like it was recorded in a mud-bath. Rest of that album, too.
Man, this is beautiful.
