Hello, thank you very much for your review and especially for your insights regarding real life use. I have a question: I am actually a university student and totally agree that I probably do not need that much power right now for university, but I value future proofing my purchases a lot. RIght now I am still using a Surface Pro 4 (six years old, battery is really bad now) and back then the base model was 4GB RAM and an I3 processor. I picked up the 8GB and I5 version and looking back this was a great decision, as 4GB Ram and an old I3 just arent enough in 2022. I plan to keep my MacBook for at least 6 years again and as I finish uni in a few years I do not believe that 8GB RAM and 256GB storage will be enough in like 2025 and I would have to purchase a newer laptop instead of keeping this one for longer. What are your thoughts on that? P.S.: Besides future proofing the m1 macbook pro also has many more advantages (screen, fan etc.) that I like a lot. If I go for the same config (16 GB RAM/512 SSD) the m2 macbook is barely cheaper and still has the worse screen and is throttled.
I think if you intend to use the macbook for a long period of time then the base m1 macbook pro is a good choice. In terms of memory you could always get a cheap external ssd and that will work well. Otherwise if you are happy to make the investment then its worth it
Very helpful, bless you 🙏
Great impressions, but the resolution (14mbp) is not “above 4K”, it’s less than 4K
You are correct! My error, its under 4k
I only have the m1 air and the experience is still buttery smooth
The M1 air is still fantastic!
Hey! I have one question. Has your Macbook Pro dimming on edges of screen ? It clearly visible on a white background
Not that I’ve noticed
