We are having so much fun going through these collections! Thanks to Tavarish for putting together such an amazing assortment of The Awesome and the Awful.
John, please keep putting out videos as you have been lately. I'm sure you have more lucrative ways to spend your time currently but we enjoy your content.
Regarding the E46 M3 manual "swap": converting from the SMG to a clutch/manual does not actually involve swapping the transmission itself - it's the same transmission either way. The "swap" only involves removing the SMG hydraulic shifter mechanism and related hardware and replacing it with a standard 6-speed shifter mechanism and a clutch pedal. The most complicated part is modifying the hole in the transmission where the gear position sensor goes, because you have to install a different one - but that's just tapping and threading a hole.
This was my buddy's old car, we built it in his garage. The engine is brand new, has maybe 1,000 miles on it since a full rebuild. The manual swap was done with I believe an RTD chassis mount shifter. It works fine, but is extremely tight, and super easy to grab 3rd instead of 1st, or leave it in gear while parked
Keep in mind when it comes to the cars like the 3000gt and the rx-7 their estimates are way off what people are paying right now. I've never seen a 3000gt that cost more than an rx7 if the 3000gt isn't HEAVILY modified, to the point of basically being a race car.
@Brad C Yeah, their limited knowledge on certain types of cars really shows at times. If that FD is running solid, no one's going to care about the anime decals and gauges. I'm thinking high teens, to maybe even 20k depending on what else has been done to it
They haven’t priced “ work trucks” in a while. That “12k” super duty is probably closer to 20k on the open market right now. Pickups are insane at the moment.
A lot of car collectors the esteemed ones not the young ones that are currently hyped up in JDM stuff Don't really value a lot of the JDM stuff unless it's something really special
Freddy has completely forgotten about working on it, so I'm sure he forgot to add it to the list. That's #1 on projects I want to see him finish (or start)
You can't get an RX7 chassis for 10 to 15 grand anymore. I know you guys don't know the Japanese market all that well which is fine. But man if you could find me in RX7 for 10 grand that runs I'll buy five.
I didn't expect to love this video concept so much, but I do. Edit: I don't think I've ever wanted to see a car put back together properly more than that F&F stunt Murcielago.
@@robertely686 aaah. Okay. I didn't know that. Thanks. I remember when I first heard of him I thought he was pretty young in relation to the value of cars I seen in his collection. Generational wealth certainly makes sense!
You are right RJ! That is a proper spec example of a 911, if there ever was one. I will admit that I love me some Freddy and Jared, but it's becoming ever more difficult to keep up with all of the cars they are working on.
I think the LT was a bit undervalued even with salvage title. It is a full custom build, fixed better than factory spec and absolutely gorgeous. You couldnt build one... at all. One of the best LTs out there.
These guys are really far off on the Japanese cars. The supras were both 80-100k cars and RHD cars are always worth less than left hand drive. Roller RX7's with no drive train are selling for 15k and more. If it runs and drives its worth 20k+, really nice ones are getting closer to 50k everyday.
There's a Hellcat engine with like 20k miles forsale here in Colorado for like $18k. Dude was going to put it in a project he has but he went a different route
They're just playing the market. Setting prices for themselves so some cars sell higher for what they would hrt usually probably just took a hit on that thing
I agree with John Ficarra about the RHD stuff being seen as cool just for that. I've got a Kei car and people constantly take pictures and ask about the RHD aspect of it.

There is cool, then there is Steve McQueen cool and people will never forget that.
The beauty of Tavarish's collection is that he doesn't have anything with a REALLY HIGH VALUE ($1 mil+ cars). His collection is made of young Freddy's dream cars that he will pick up in a nasty state and brought back to life with his little touches. It's one of my favorite car collections on YT.
As someone who has lived in Japan longer than I've lived in the states, Honda Beats are worth more than that. Dunno about the Supra though. You can still find them here for about 50-60k.
I'd still like to see you guys do Tim "Schmee150" Burton's cars. He has a wide variety of years and makes. Manny Koshbin's cars might be interesting but the one-off designs of many could be tricky to value, probably a lot less than he paid.

What subtle shade? Bolian and Ficarra both threw him under Jared's Rally Bus. 😋
