Neil has the precious gift of putting his stories out there in a style we can all understand , appreciate , love. Never boring. Never repetitive. Always polite , sincere. Full of empathy; connection his strong point. Long may he continue to entertain us , keeping us enthralled for 'aye'.
Being a lover of history, I absolutely enjoyed the Love letter to the British isles. And now, a Love letter to the World. I wait in eager anticipation for each episode! Thank you Neil and to all that are involved for your time and hard work on both of these letters. Cheers!
The Ascent of man ,and Civilization , both BBC 2 when it actually educated and entertained , both to be found on the net , Neil' series can be added to these gems !
“I don’t take no stock in dead people.” -Huckleberry Finn Mark Twain reveals the reason for the typical school boys indifference to history. That was the case with me when I was a boy. Later, I found history to be quite fascinating. History is drama.
what a great series!! Thank you Neil (for your outlook on the world, in general). Your contribution to an understanding of human history (past and present) is invaluable!!
A very good and insightful question, that. Search me! However I think it has something to do with one's ability to absorb and retain information. Neil has that by the bucket-load. Obviously.
You brought to life the history so few even know today. Vast history and yet it was never told in school and therefore not discovered till you brought this to life. Wow it sure was something to hear and watch, l have to instant replay this so I too can recall this story of individuals way back in time, that indeed should not be forgotten or unknown. Thank you Neil for sharing the history you call moments.
Well done Neil for starting out on this enlightening series…Abraham lived in the city of Ur in Mesopotamia and God called him out of there to lead his people to the land of Promise….part of which is Israel today……
I have your book Neil so to hear you tell us the story with the pictures really brings it to life this is going to be a wonderful journey thank you 🙏 😍😍
And so the legend continues; A journey through places in history. I shall be watching them all. When able I shall consider becoming a patron too. I've seen the tablets and steeli in the British Museum when I was a boy, I used to bunk off from school - occasionally - and go there because it was free and in the rain you were warmer than being outside; But I was absolutely captivated by those things, the whole place takes days to go around and if you home educate your kids I'd say - spend days there in each section leaning about ancient things.
Thank you for the physics lesson that was mind-blowing. I learn the exact same way you do I have no math and history was my subject and then journalism so we're very much on the same road. I'm also your fan on X I'm cyber reality 01 you're actually following me. this book is getting interesting. I wanted to say that I learned something similar in the subject of chemistry. chemistry to me smacked of math. A Libyan fellow online who is doing his PhD in chemical engineering at some school in Malaysia explained it to me in three paragraphs. Salt! Shared electrons because they can't be alone... but history was missing!
A staggeringly entertaining and informative episode 1.I had never heard of this lady until now. The first literary figure in history...and an early example of a victim of political upheaval to boot My usual heartfelt thanks to the "Love Letter" team.👍 👏👏👏👏
Meeting Brian Haw and spending time with him made all the difference in my life. ❤ I have written that story and plan to podcast it. Thank you for the inspiration. Stay blessed. ❤
This is beyond words. It weaves itself from our collective psyche, into the ancient psyche of each of us watching -- you and i - rooting us back as homo sapiens; the humanity behind the cyborg.
She was the first historian, writing was a skill, possessed by many, but she had the wisdom to collect the old stories and create new ones, to assemble into "something that had not existed before." What a beautiful telling of her story, a piece of it anyway. Ashtabarnapol wrote some fascinating pieces also, I wish I could quote my favorite piece, but it's long and winding. Something about his ability to read and write, calculate and infer, and similar skills he had been taught by priests and scholars. Beautiful start to a wonderful series of moments in history! Keep em comin'...
Way back in the nineties I bought a book of poetry titled A Book of Women Poets. The first poet is Enheduanna. Thank you all for all of your effort. I love these series.
Born with tendencies and limits like Neil. Math (geometry excepted) was a curse to me & drew little effort from me to learn more than the basics. Years later came across a book 'Math for the Millions'. It started at the known beginning of numbers, through branches like geometry to the then present day - ca 1935. Excellent ! Recommended to all if math was always a challenge.
The modern version of this is the ability of writing software code. Not only has it employed millions of people, it has changed the world in countless ways in the last 50 years.
For the first time, I am learning a bit about history. Thank you Neil for your beautiful storytelling. (I have always struggled with understanding the dimension of history, my brain doesnt work that way.)
Very enlightening, Neil - I think I'm always surprised by the quality of the writing, the depth of ideas, imagination and vocabulary - their undoubted intelligence and sophistication. Compare her writings to some of today's scribbles, and it makes me think human civilization stretches back to a perhaps, untouchable, invisible Past... Thanks for sharing The Stories.
Thankyou, Mr Oliver...your Podcasts are enlightening, entertaining and often very moving...my partner and I have watched several so far, and find them very comforting and empowering in these weird times. I'm also loving your new book on Hauntings!
I love it that the stories of Enheduanna are similar to the ones in the BIble!!! makes you think... think... think... how come they have the same stories ????
Looks like the beginning of another great series Neil (and Paul) BTW, speaking of Paul, why do we never see him, we only hear from him? Would be nice to put a face to the name? Is Paul shy? (haha) Greetings from Australia
Niel can you reccomend any good organisations/ community initiatives in the UK that are working towards building more empowered/ sovereign systems? Orgainic community farming projects etc. Or anywhere that is offering practical advice on moving away from globalist WEF/WHO type agendas. Have just moved back here from living free and healthy in Mexico and feeling very concerned about the way everything is playing out. Wanting to invest my energy into being part of the solution rather than just overwhelmed with fear and pessimism. Most of the content I have come across seems to be either focused on calling out the corruption or the collective awakening we are going through and how important it is to stay positive and keep our frequency high. Whilst I agree with all of this it seems there is a lack of practical advice on how we can rally together and create more sustainable, loving, grassroots systems which give power back to the people and aren’t so dependent on the state. Grateful for your service and beautiful spirit 🙏❤️
What has struck me is, our species is amazing, our evolvement to what we are and what we have achieved. We are autonamous and the current serfdom to our governmental is the greatest evil.
Neil Pixies & Elves it had to be History of the World in 100 Moments as Neil Fergusson's History of the World in 100 objects was already taken. I look forward to your series Neil. 0:37 seconds in What would be my thoughts on A Skill that changed the World? Either making fire, or knapping flint? Let me sit back and enjoy your thoughts. Thanks Neil!

May God continue protecting you and your family

I have always loved to read about history, especially ancient history. My favorite has always been the Minoan civilization.
I watched this twice just to let it really sink in…

Even music and lyrics are laying down our own story, giving it up to be heard and remembered. I think im going to write and play my story. R S x

I like Enheduanna first hit “living in a mesopotamic world”
First time I ever saw you was in that bronze age sand footprint scene in the ice age documentary
