I really enjoyed seeing the hedgehog video, those little creatures cannot help being so cute. Nice job bringing that to us.

Although it may be angst-inspiring (any big event has that potential) I am so glad that you and your son have this opportunity. What a lovely setting - between you and nature, you have this covered. Guests are a great catalyst for making a space more comfortable for daily living. Thank you for the bit of bird and bee watching. Have you considered becoming a bee keeper? You have the space. So wonderful for the environment and... it could be a money maker. There may also be a local "keeper" who needs more space and could rent it from you (or barter bee products). All the best.

It sounds like you've been busy with your preparations, and things are in order. And your land is looking absolutely gorgeous. It must be great to see the bird and animal life. All I have to look at are pigeons, and sometimes crows or seagulls.
Am sure your son will just take you as you are so don't stress to much. Sure is lovely out there but it is nice to talk face to face to someone nice occasioally.

No breathing sounds here. Couldn’t see the birds but could hear their beautiful calls. Continue as you are cos it’s like having a little chat with your dear friend. You work so hard on your land, which you have to but you must try to get more local work to help your independence. You have done brilliantly so far with your house and garden. Have an amazing time with your son.
While we have the space for a dedicated guest room, one of my favourite single person "beds" is a camp cot with a mattress topper. Incredibly comfortable. Easy to store afterwards as well.
For wildlife, have you considered a trail cam? An older model should be fine. Should be fun and give you extra content.

We have had an awful Spring /Summer so far. Good to hear all the birdsong in the background. Sure your Son will be just so happy to spend theme with you and enjoy the peaceful grounds. Enjoy your time together!
I don't think the Orioles are around where I live. I have always wanted to a Painted Bunting in my bird bath, and no such luck. But we did see a beautiful at the nature preserve by my house. Hope that you have a fabulous time with your son.

those bees absolutely are amazing to see. I have never seen one that color, we have Huge ones here in the west coast but nothing like that.

Hi Mark. Do you feed your birds! I buy dehydrated worms, wildbird seed and fat balls and put them out, then I sit back with a glass of wine, binoculars and bird list!!! Heaven! (Bird feed bought at Action - cheap as chips.)
I'll go back and watch the hedgehog video tomorrow while my grandchildren are with me..we love em ! :-)

Amazing to see those birds. I'm currently having few days in the New Forest one if my favourite places. It's is finally hot around 25° also,going for a paddle later when it cools a bit,then back fir a G&T got to be done. Love from a not Kent but a hot New Forest.❤

Your Carpenter Bee's are probably living on your property in some old wood structure, I'm thinking your wood shed but could be any wooden structure. You are lucky to have them as they aren't aggressive as long as they aren't in your house doing damage. Have a wonderful time with your son!

Your son will appreciate the effort you’ve made on the house, and your peaceful beautiful land. All that beauty is *your’s*!! That’s pretty impressive, especially given what a neglected state it was in when you moved over there full time a couple of years ago and the many hours of work you’ve spent on it - both house and garden!
Your son is probably as stressed as you are. Take a big breath, and calm down. He wants to connect with you, that all that matters.

Mark, do you have an Emmaus charity shop nearby. I have bought beautiful bed linen there still in packing for a couple of €.
I think there is one around 12 kms away :-)
