The X series is giving you more of the F4 look because of the crop factor. The XF 50- 140 F/2.8 is more like a 76-214 F/4 do to the crop of the APSC sensor. Now on the GFX it does the opposite. The GF 250 F/4 works out to be more like a 200 F/3. So that's why you're getting more bokeh with the GFX.

As a GFX user, I could easily identify all the images. But at the same time, I was surprised at how similar they were.

Right?!?! I'm thinking of doing another version of this video with the GFX100s & 110 vs XH2 and XF56mm 1.2. Thoughts?

The dog pictures seal the deal. The faces looked much more lifelike and dimensional on the GFX. Also, look at the eyes. There was some sort of clarity and life there on the GFX. Hard to explain, but they were different. However, you are right the X series is very close and there is a huge price premium for the GFX.

Fully agreed! The depth you get on the GFX system just simply cannot be replicated on XF. It's def hard to justify the price, especially if you are a pure hobby shooter. But once you try the GFX, its VERY hard to go back. I can say this with experience 😅

The 50MP GFX bodies are getting affordable. There isn't much price difference between them and the FF bodies. The lenses are still expensive, but they can be a lot more affordable on the used market. Also, the new 35-70 for $500 is a steal. Fuji has to be losing money on that one. Even if it is a slow lens.

@@sebastiang7183 They also had a really killer black friday sale last year. Hopefully they will do another great one this year too. They had the 50/3.5 for $700

@@MikeBanom Fuji seems to run sales every couple of months. Right now, it looks like we are heading toward a global recession so I have a feeling that sales will continue to move inventory. Fuji is trying to pull some FF shooters to MF that need better IQ over speed.

Mike… just subscribed! UA-cam algorithms just directed me to your Channel. I need to binge watch your content. I am 6 months into Fuji ecosystem from SONY. Started out with both XH2 & XH2S. Then 2 months ago traded in XH2 for GFX50Sii. Trying Medium Format. Been thinking about picking up an XH2 again… but after this video… why? I’m starting to build up my GF Lens inventory. Ordered used 45-100mm last night. I live in Tokyo area (from Chicago) and lightly used equipment might as well be considered “like new” here. I’m curious how this compares switching out the 50Sii fir the 100S. I’m investing in the future of the GFX series. Keeping the XH2S for video and fast shooting. Interested in Street Photography, landscape and some portraits. Great material!

Thanks for the subscribe! From what i've heard (have never tried the 50Sii), the AF is not as fast as the 100s (although you know, AF on the GFX is kind of a rough point), but otherwise, minimal differences aside from the resolution. I could be wrong! I absolutely love my 100s. When everyone was jumping ship to the GFX100ii, I was like meh. The new 100sii rumors are looking interesting, but lets see how that goes!
My next video will be on the lenses that make up my GFX lens kit. But I suspect it's coming in June since I'm really reallllllly busy with a big trip coming up in May. Stay tuned, thanks for the kind words and interest sir!

I would love to get the 250mm at some point, but let's be honest. It's a hard sell. It's huge to carry around, which narrows down the use cases. I could only justify it for specific landscape photography. For sure I wouldn't dare to go out and about in the city with it... And for portraits the 110mm makes more sense. I would like to hear your thoughts on it...

Well let me say this. I thought that the 110 was absolutely insane. But then I tried the 250mm. The DOF on the 250 is very nice. IMO better than the 110 but it is a longer lens. I'm really not sure I could ever justify buying the 250mm because it is just so massive. I would never want to take it around. Portraits on the 110 is ideal for sure. Faces get too wide at 200mm.

The seven grand USD setup takes better pictures than the three grand setup :-D In other news, college students like beer..
But seriously, a good comparison to see if you really need to spend the extra cash to shoot the bigger format. Some folks do, some don't. I don't, unless I rented it for a specific shoot. Good review, thanks!

😂 hahahahaha. Glad you liked it! I was honestly pretty surprised with teh results. If large prints / large display is not an issue, hard to really pick which is which IMO. Stay tuned for a full review video on the 250mm!

I find my 50-140 is sharper & renders more pleasing colours than my older Canon 70-200 f2.8is. I was really shocked by the results although the Canon was bomb proof compared to the fujinon.

The 50-140 is an insane lens! Crazy sharp, great DOF and bokeh. I don't have a ton of exp with the canon 70-200 so I can't really comment there.
