He was so so young when he passed and Julie is his last surviving child. I think interviews like these are so important in maintaining film history.

He contracted scarlet fever when he was young which caused him to have rheumatic heart disease permanently damaging his heart. And the smoking of cigarettes probably didn't help as well.

John garfield was such a brilliant actor, you couldn't take your eyes of him when he was on the screen, he was mesmerising, I would put him in the top ten actors of all time, his films were also fantastic, so gripping and atmospheric, the way he was treated was disgraceful, all he was guilty off was being a good decent man,who cared about others. He died way too young, and the world missed out on a great talent. 💖💔💖💯

As a kid growing up in an abusive home in N.Y. I escaped into any and every John Garfield movie I can find. He was like a family member to me if you will. I must have been picking up some vibe about him even through the characters he played that he himself was also badly abused by his father in real life. His dramatic line delivery at times when called for would be like being hit by a punch by Mike Tyson only with words and expression. He was the original "rebel" and he had a cause! All the great actors to follow wish they could be like John Garfield. He had loads of real life pains and haunts to draw upon as he was engaged in his "method"! He truly had all of the tools of the trade built into his "Body And Soul"! To this day there is nothing like watching a John Garfield movie!

I was s-o-o-o-o pissed off at Jack Nicholson for ruining the remake of "The Postman Always Rings Twice." Jessica Lange was perfect casting, but he indulged in the worst ham-fisted clowning of his career. He was going a bit nuts with all his movie star power and excess. Not Jack's finest hour. Lana and John G. will never be bettered. Their version stands the test of time.

My mom instructed me to keep my mouth shut unless I had something nice to say, so I begin my comment with this compliment. Eddie; your tailor is getting better at his job. We hope he will soon double down and teach you to properly tie your neck ties. Your beautiful ties must be tied much tighter so they better regulate the hot air coming out of your mouth. In this "interview", our beloved Mister Garfield's daughter Julie, spoke one word to your fifty words. To quote a neo-noir phrase.., "Dude; check yourself before you wreck yourself". We all know your are the self appointed supreme authority on all things film noir. You don't have to prove it by depriving us of the opportunity to learn more, than you could ever tell us, about Julie's dad.

Changing one's birth name is like slapping your parents in the face. It's disrespectful and unnecessary. This is especially true if it's done for the anticipation of greater recognition and or financial gain. It's like selling-out, to perhaps an Agent or Studio Mogul, while at the same time being ashamed of your Father.
