I'm a bit smitten with June after seeing this- she is just adorable! what a sweet little human! I feel bad for her that she is so warm and charming and sharing such wonderful stories to an interviewer who seems to be made of brick. I mean she got NOTHING back from her whatsoever. Not even a giggle. Seriously you might as well have had a robot voice asking questions. I would LOVE to sit down with June and have a hot chocolate and just listen to her stories.
I notice that too, who was the interviewer? And I also notice her asking her about Joan Blondell who hates June Allyson. Not to pleasant interviewer, more in the cold side. Maybe is me, because I like June Allyson.
June Allyson is such a treasure. She's compassionate and kind without being drippy or insincere. I've always appreciated her precise answers when asked about her peers.
June Allyson, an absolute Hollywood icon, star, one of the greatest, never could be compared to in any era, true mistress of her art, real Hollywood golden era. Oh how we miss June Allyson z will forever.
She is cute as a button! I've always loved her! Too bad the interviewer didn't seem to interact well with her......now I want to see that video about Esther Williams, another of my favorites!
I always thought she was an underrated actress. However, I had no idea what a sweet and nice lady she was. Wonderful interview. Thank you TCM for posting this.
June Allyson was one of MGM Studio's biggest stars. She was Judy Garland's only threat. Altho June was a good friend of Judy. June Allyson could do dramatic roles as well as Comedies and musicals. She had personality and carisma with a capitol "P".
@@sandramorey2529 the only straight, dramatic role Garland did at MGM was The Clock 1945 with Robert Walker. Judgement At Nuremberg was United Artists 1961. June Allyson was a musical and dramatic talent. She could sing, dance and act. She had a very good marriage to Dick Powell until his death in '63. Judy Garland's ups and downs in her personal life are what propelled her to this legend status. June, on the other hand, had a more normal life. Definitely no substance abuse!!
Happy to say that after watching this, my opinion has changed! What a dear, sweet, entertaining woman! Thoroughly enjoyed hearing her tell about herself
Love watching her but not crazy about the interviewer. Doesn't seem to be on top of things and just reading question after question (June's face says a lot) - wonder if she even know who June Allyson is.
This is great I’m a massive fan of June Allyson have nearly all her movies.. Not only do I love the movies she did with Van Johnson, I adore the three movies she did with Peter Lawford interestingly they had a fling and Peter Lawford was apparently quite upset when they broke up. Would love to have seen her in the film version of Because of You with Jeff Chandler instead of Lorretta Young, but alas there is only a radio play of it with her and Jeff Chandler.🥲😉
Lovely to hear from this unassuming but long lasting star of the golden age. A weird lack of reaction to some of June’s observations by the so-called interviewer! She doesn’t seem to listen at all, Lea I g an awkward silence when June finishes telling a story or worse offers up some humour.
My dad loved June. I grew up watching old MGM movies and fell in love with her too. BUT . . . the story about her name change is completely different from what she writes in her autobiography. In fact, I was a bit shocked to hear this version.
Delightful. Although you could see some steel behind the winsome. I doubt you'd survive in that business for as long as Miss Allyson did without considerable grit.
The interviewer is terrible and quite rude to June at some points, no reaction to her stories. And she seems very unprepared. June deserved way better.
This is really unfortunate how poorly edited this is. June's answers are very charming, but a non-camera personality asking her questions makes it look awkward. They need to re-cut this.
I've never been a big June Allyson fan, but I love these TCM interviews. It's interesting to listen to the stories, even if you're not a fan of the person.
To movie lover it was the film that had the famous words Christopher Columbus. But these faces before another face back in 2019 knew her famous words. It was Jo March who in this literary book tell the story about four girls and their mom and Katherine Hep burn and June Allyson said these few words while we're watching television about the girl slipping and sliding to see the house where her fiancée experienced the house doesn't compared to grandfathers. We can see the film Little Women with Wynona Rider, Kirsten Dunst, Trini Alvarado, Samantha Mathis, Claire Dance and headed up was Susan Sarandon when the two famous word of that film air with host Alicia Malone who we asked about three remake not 2017 and 2019 that goes for Cinemax, HBO and other movie channels. That 1994filmstart today at noon. Other remakes are for Tuesday and Thursday. Sometimes when we don't say these two words. it reminds us about the man who discovered America. Sure she doesn't say two words when at the dance and the theater. Warner Bros Pictures has this. We'll see these two remakes when 2021 TCM Classic Film Festival and Classic Cruise opens up after covid-19 ends. Holy Oliver Twist, great Turner Broadcasting System. Oh WarnerMedia.
She was exactly like her image her friends say, naive, sweet sunny and a perfect wife even though she says she doesn't cook lol she was 31 years older than me,i was a studio musician at Warner brothers 😢i would have married her in a new😢 York minute+!❤❤
why are the interviewers on these TCM videos SO BAD. she doesnt even react when ms allyson says something light hearted. she doesnt even say "oh that was funny", or "that was so interesting", she doesnt say anything. Very strange.
I love TCM so much ... It's my favorite channel. Love watching June films. She was a fox in a few of them I think. Had a killer little bod hiding under those outfits it's too bad they always gave her the little boy blue hair cut
Van Johnson was totally gay. The studio made Vans best friend divorce just to marry him as she was the only woman he got along with. She was resentful in the end and spilled beans.
She may have dentures by this time in her life . But June always wore those horrible , bright white , retainers in her films . All those actresses from the 40's -- 60's , wore those horrible things . UGH !!! I think Joanne Woodward was the only actress who refused to wear those terrible , things . Katherine Hepburn wore them early on but stopped , once she became an established star . I can't watch some of the older , actresses in certain films because those fake tooth coverings are so distracting .

Unfortunately she's been dead for 15 years..... Not sure if you know that since you speak in present tense about her.
I thought the same thing...
I notice that too, who was the interviewer? And I also notice her asking her about Joan Blondell who hates June Allyson.
Not to pleasant interviewer, more in the cold side. Maybe is me, because I like June Allyson.
The interviewer didn't want to impose themselves. They wanted to let June have the spotlight.
She always looked so young, 31 when she played 15 I too young to kiss 💋😅
June Allyson is such a treasure. She's compassionate and kind without being drippy or insincere. I've always appreciated her precise answers when asked about her peers.
June Allyson was a huge movie star. I remember as a kid watching her on a big movie screen, especially with Jimmy Stewart. She was magical.
What a wonderful actress! Love all her movies!

What a treasure ✨June's movies are always full of Life..🤗
June Allyson is one of those celebrities that it probably would have been a joy to know in person.
She is cute as a button! I've always loved her! Too bad the interviewer didn't seem to interact well with her......now I want to see that video about Esther Williams, another of my favorites!

Watch the Dick Cavett interview it’s really good!

June Allyson could do dramatic roles as well as Comedies and musicals. She had personality and carisma with a capitol "P".
I love June, but let's be real: she may have been used by MGM as a 'threat' to Judy, but she never, ever was in terms of talent.
Judy could do dramatic roles really well, too. Check her out in Judgement at Nuremberg. Both beautiful actors who filled different MGM nitches.

Like Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman and Stefanie Powers, June Allyson is as charismatic and charming as in her heyday. Actually even more. 🌹❤️
Happy to say that after watching this, my opinion has changed! What a dear, sweet, entertaining woman! Thoroughly enjoyed hearing her tell about herself
I loved this! Such a darling woman!
Love watching her but not crazy about the interviewer. Doesn't seem to be on top of things and just reading question after question (June's face says a lot) - wonder if she even know who June Allyson is.
Such a sweet and gentle soul...
Such a sweet lady. Love her book!
I loved June Allyson. I lked any movies she made.
Adorable wee Lady..
I loved her and James Stewart in the Stratton story I wish they had more films together. I would’ve loved to see them in romantic comedies haha.
@24:07 very sensitive and emotional. Very nice woman.
Such a lovely person.

Agreed! Wish I could have interviewed her, but that would have taken all day!
Such a disrespectful interviewer
Shes so wonderful rip junie she did a good job here ❤
My dad loved June. I grew up watching old MGM movies and fell in love with her too. BUT . . . the story about her name change is completely different from what she writes in her autobiography. In fact, I was a bit shocked to hear this version.
What did she said? If u mind me asking
Such a lovely lady. Poor June though, this was more like an interrogation, no reaction from the interviewer after hearing all those wonderful stories.
She aged very well.
Horrible interviewer. June Allyson is so alert and professional.
Totally agree, the interviewer sucks big time in her boring monotone voice not really engaging with June.
June Allyson was a sweet little soul...always.
Love Her❤

It's refreshing hearing somebody not bashing Louis B. Mayer for a change.
Yes, and she was the first big star to promote incontince undergarments - helping the old and infirm to accept using them without shame.
She was the cute girl, with the page boy hairdo. That's what I remember about June Allyson.
The interviewer is certainly no Robert Osbourne, she seems completely uninterested in what the lovely June Allyson is saying.
Just watched June Allyson in little women she was the perfect Josephine March
Jo march, other only! Jo march, ever!!

WHEN WAS THIS DONE....???????
I wanna say like 2003-2006. I think she died in 2006.
@@coolsaint6044 Can't be. she would have been 84 which she was not here. these shows were made in the mid 90's
Go back to the opening. It tells you 1997.
This interviewer is more like an interrigator than an interviewer.
Where is Robert Osborn when you need him?
Terrible interviewer but Allyson handles it graciously; so goes a Class Act actress.
why are the interviewers on these TCM videos SO BAD. she doesnt even react when ms allyson says something light hearted. she doesnt even say "oh that was funny", or "that was so interesting", she doesnt say anything. Very strange.
I don't like this interviewer either
yeah. she stinks.
All the TCM interviews on here were done by her, and she's awful in every one of them. Why did TCM ever hire her?! It's baffling.
Faltaron los subtítulos 🥲
Idole
June Allyson was such a deliciously delightful woman!💕
The interviewer was terrible. June Allyson was trying so hard to make it flow and make it interesting. What a shame.
I wonder who the creepy interviewer was?

"Lunch at the Drugstore" must have been at Schwabs
The interviewer is a rude jerk who doesn't know how to put the person at ease!
my adorable wife!
What a disagreeable interviewer! I adore June Allyson but I'm giving this interview a thumbs down.
The interviewer is professional, not rude. Stop criticizing her.
She sucks! Rude and uningaging. June deserved better!
Notice she is wearing dentures. So does Jane Powell.
Ummm… ok.. And how did you know that? How could you tell?
