Before Clift, Brando and Dean there was John Garfield. The best of them all! Gone 66 years ago today and never forgotten. What an actor he was!
The 40's and 50's treated so many famous stars so badly. R I P MR. GARFIELD - I still think you were innocent over 60 yrs later. 🙏💋🌹
John Garfield one of my favorite all time actors! I especially enjoyed his portrayal as a washed out pilot candidate, turned aerial (waist) gunner in the action adventure film “Air Force”, which was about the crew of a B-17 “Flying Fortress” scheduled to arrive at Hickman Field on December 7th , 1941, and their subsequent harrowing escape to go on fighting the Japanese throughout the Pacific. My father who died when I was 3 years old was a pilot who flew B-17’s in WWII. This movie and John Garfield brought me closer to my father. Thank you Mr Garfield!
John Garfield was a man of integrity and sacrifice. He was a patriot founding The Hollywood Canteen along with Bette Davis and Jules Stein. Great actor.
Gone too soon. What amazing other performances he could have made had he lived longer. R.I.P.

I see another Emmy Nomination in this one - and a win.
