I love boat trips on the Thames, The trip up to Richmond is great we saw Herons, and a lovely pub to eat in. 😊
NW UK is ugh weather, no gardening for me. So here I am a cup of tea and a crumpet with homemade jam.
Yorkshire is a Skewbald horse brown and white. Black and white horse is a piebald.
@@maryholder3795 I've noticed the colors of horses is always dependent upon what geographical area one may be standing in at the time of when a horse is looked upon 😀😉 It can get quit confusing, even to a novice. ❤
@@ayabokti161 never knew that horses colours can be due to a geographic area. Interesting thank you.
Don’t apologize for the weather John…I think many people associate London with rainy grey weather. The walk through the park a few days ago was gorgeous contrast. I’d love to walk through London rain! 😘
@@maryholder3795 Oh but it's true, nonetheless.
I LOVE your walks through London! I’m in the US and have never been to England, so it’s like I’m visiting when I watch your channel! Thank you! ❤
I've been a few times, and I'd love to make another trip: however, watching your videos brings back fond memories and anticipation for the future. Thank you!
Same with me! I enjoy the videos showing everything.
Same! My husband's brother and sister‐in-law have been. I love watching these videos!!❤❤
I am from Wisconsin!
I can't get enough of your humor. You make my day John. Also stay dry.
Hear hear you certainly make my day with your lovely sense humour thankyou
I have seen this trooper crack a couple of times. He has such a nice smile!
Hi John I just wanted to share a little story. At the local supper market yesterday I met an elderly gentleman who started a conversation with me. He was wearing a cap sporting a blues badge. He went through his service with Parker Bowles. He told me some stories of his adventures and was very proud. Half an hour later he told me there are no sergeants in regiment due to Queen Victoria apparently it stands for slave and she wasn’t having it. So Corporal of the horse’s is the same rank. Very interesting I live in County Durham.
Yes, Queen Victoria didn't want the rank of Sergeant and a (unique to HCAV) rank was born: Corporal of Horse (CoH).
Thank you for sharing your story.
What an interesting conversation that must have been , listening to those with great stories to tell is important or their stories did with them .
@@kathellison8084 it was lovely, he shared a few stories. I got the impression he was lonely and wanted to talk. A really lovely man.
Few people take the time to converse with others. Glad you took the time and opportunity!
After skin cancer surgery i am so happy to not only hearing your voice but the beautiful tours you give and your humor. Everything went fine with the surgery its the skin graft thats really hurting. But so happy to be back. OH this is Lorraine from across the pond 😊
That is brilliant news about the surgery! Hope you are feeling a LOT better!! ❤❤
Sending you healing vibes ❤
Glad all went well with surgery sending good wishes to you❤❤
Thank to all of you. You all are so sweet 😋
Hi Lorraine , great news about your surgery , on the road to healing now 😊. Sending love and very careful hugs 🤗😘🤗
There are several names for spotted horses, Pinto is a common one . Black base coat with white spots is a Piebald. White base with black is a Skewbald. Hope that helps. 😊 Thanks for the lovely walk through town!
The markings on the nose looks like angel wings! ❤️❤️ That guy, I'm gonna have to watch My Cousin Vinny now! Hahaha!!! He was hilarious! And the guard has a cute smile!
I think the markings look like the wings of a phoenix, hence the horse's name.
I just looked again at the markets on horses nose and they do look like angel wings
@@elizabethmeyer7107 very unique and amazing they turned out like that. Beautiful!
Enjoyed your chat with Joe Pesci; good comedy team. Great tour of docks and ferry. ❤🏇🏇
It is so nice when the tourist thanks the guard for letting them snap a photo.❤😅
Oh my...I love the smile of this beautiful guard! 😍
Shackleton is not a quitter, he is an explorer that's why he is so restless, he wants to go out again and discover
The colored horse at the beginning... in the US we call those "paint" or "pinto". it is the most common color for ponies in the west usually ridden by native Americans. Now they are all over the country. I had a friend who owned one,
I just did some quick research on the difference between Piebald and Pinto. Pinto is the Spanish word for 'spotted'. Other than that, it seems they describe the same type of colouring on a horse. It just depends on where one is from. I always think of a Pinto being those that some of the Indians (or Native Americans. I mean no disrespect) used to ride in the movies.
In the UK they are piebalds black and white .
@@kathellison8084 Skewbald for brown and white in the UK.
Also, pinto refers to that unique two tome coloration. However a Paint horse must have thoroughbred or quarterhorse lineage with the two-tone pinto coloring. Pintos can be mixed with any breed of horse; it's the two-tone color that gives it the pinto name. So every Paint Horse can be called pinto, but not every pinto can be called a Paint Horse. I know there are groups who own one or the other and they can get quite heated if they hear you call their horse the wrong name. I don't know if it's like this in UK stables, but in US, there are more stables run by women than men. Plus more women own horses than men. And when you get groups of women stableing at a woman-run stable, there is bound to be drama over tack, over paddock space, or whatever has their panties in a twist in a given moment. Some can be quite toxic. My point is, this is where you would most likely have people get offended that you would call their horse by the wrong name. (The Horror!) A popular youtuber calls these women barn witches, which isn't very nice, but if the shoe fits....I find it frustrating because it ruins the fun of hanging out with your horse. Perhaps competitions have created this mean girl culture. It's sad. Here's my citation that contains a lot more info that I found interesting. karinabrez.com/blogs/news/what-is-the-difference-between-a-paint-and-pinto-horse
There are a couple of classifications of Paints and Pintos. If the horse is Black and White (not gray) they're called Piedbalds. Any other color and white (not gray) are called Screwbalds. Paint is a breed of horse ) American Paint Horse Association is their registry. Pintos on the other hand aren't a breed but a color. You have Pinto Arabians, Saddlebreds, Tennessee Walkers, Morgan's etc. The other classifications are Overo (pronounced O ver o) and Tobiano (Toe bee ann o). One is color on white, and the other is white on color. I get them confused at times so you're going to have to Google it. That Police Horse may have been a Gypsy Vanner (Irish Vanner, Irish Tinker's horse, Irish Cob).
Oh my I love the horse, Yorkshire! Just gorgeous! His tail was even 2 colors if my eyes didn't deceive me. I'm so glad you caught that. I enjoyed this walk in the rain. I agree a nice meal or tea would be a lovely break from the rain. Thank you!
John this is so precious plus goes to show that the Guards are only human deserve respect
They are also trained elite fighting soldiers. 🇬🇧
Of course a guy from Brooklyn with the accent would get the Trooper to smile, I was born in Brooklyn however I was raised in the Bronx and have the same accent as that guy. I would play video games on line with a mic and people from other countries would ask me to say "I'm walking here!" good times lol.
This is the reason I love your channel. You narrate and take us on a tour on the way to horse guards.
The guard held his gloved hand ocross his mouth to hide his smile then couldnt hold back 😂
Loved that moment as the guy from Brooklyn and his son were sincere, funny and (most important) RESPECTFUL.
Cannot beat well mannered polite respectable people, we go far in life xxxx
Oh my gosh, I LOVED this ! I love the rainy ones, they make me feel cosy. I know, I know, I'm sad. Thank you though John, for braving the rain, and your commentary makes my day.
John I love touring with you. Thank you.
Love this trooper has nice smile
What a great smile the Trooper has!!! That was so funny!
love this guy and his commentary. this is my background noise when I'm working and get caught up on the other recent news. i love how he is so calm and just comments and focuses on the horses.
Same, I honestly have no idea how he does it. Hoping to meet him one day : )
@@LondonCityWalks 🤣😂🤣💞
@@LondonCityWalks ....One of the reasons I watch the other folks filming is that I hope to catch a glimpse of John in their footage. I'd likely recognize his voice first. 🥰
Funnily enough, the borough you forgot (Staten Island), has been colloquially dubbed, “The Forgotten Borough”. Your videos have become the highlight of my day, and the comments from viewers are also a joy to read. Much love to all, from Long Island, NY.
I am in my 50's and remember Queen Elizabeth 11 have a huge parade for her birthday. It was so great to see. I will never get to England. But seeing these video's are brilliant. You really love what you do.. Cheers🇦🇺
The woman did not say grassy ass she said Gracias, which is thank you in Spanish. You guys are hilarious.
I'm from Yorkshire so amazing to have such a horse namedafter my area.
Could Yorkshire be a paint horse? Would be very unusual indeed.
Me too!
@@MightyMoCat Yorkshire is a Skewbald horse.
@@maryholder3795 According to my quick Google search, Yorkshire is more likely a Pinto and possibly a Paint. Skewbalds would have white patches on a dark background. A Pinto is any two colors. A Paint is a type of Pinto.
Piebald and skewbald are British terminology for black and white or brown and white horses , Paint and pinto are American terms . As we are in the UK it's piebald or skewbald . Paint is also a recognised American breed of horse .
Always watching from New Zealand. Reminds me of my childhood in UK. Regularly visited Horse Guards. ❤
Goodmorning John, love the walks and you sharing London with us, so very interesting and your sense of humor makes it fun. I always look forward to follow you and hear what you got to say. It is a messy day there. Stay Safe. Thank you
Best well behaved kids so far.Joe Pesci guy and trooper Legend!
Wow what a beautiful horse Yorkshire is ❤❤
Thank you for walking with you in London, enjoying Whitehall with the beautiful horses and Guards and smiling of your humour..! 🤣😍
I can always have a smile your humour is great John .
What a beauty Yorkshire is!
We’ve never seen this horse before. A new horse to be honest. He’s gorgeous with the fluffy right hind sock & a unique face markings. 🥰
That horse is 'Pheonix' (sic). Not sure if it's an intentional misspelling.
Pheonix'(sic) I beautiful love the fluffy legs very beautiful
John that horse has angles wings on its nose, the name suits it: What a beauty. Great video John thank you: Kiwi
Also, the I think the white mark on its forehead looks like that of the bald eagle, don't you think?
36:32 yup it is Ava long tail with ear protectors.
But what a wet day washing the yard, the roads pavements and buildings.
Love the new horse Phoenix, we shouldn't forget his or is it her name any time soon with those facial white markings. Beautiful.
Brooklyn in th3 house, YES!!!! So glad that guy represented us well😂 in case people across the world don't know, Brooklyn people have th3 best sense of humor!!
Btw, the borough that u couldn't remember is Staten Island
The horse Yorkshire is a pinto. This is Linda from Florida. Love the walks around London. Stirs up the English blood in me! And as a horse owner I love seeing the magnificent horses (and the guards & troopers aren't bad either)!
In the UK he's a piebald , black and white , brown and white would be skewbald
Piebald in the UK, Linda.
got to say,the rain after hot days makes the stone on certain buildings look good
afternoon john yet another fun day at horse gaurds with the lovely horses and some tourists
It’s nice seeing the smile and respect ❤
I agree. Enjoying the walks.
That was a sweet laugh from the guard, thanks to "Joe". Enjoyed this video and the polite French students.
The white on Phoenix's nose is where hair was rubbed off from either tack or the horse scratching themselves on something and the hair grew back in white. A lot of horses have those where their halter or bridle has rubbed them.
Good morning. John, coming to London is on my bucket list.
Lovely walk, thanks John
Yorkshire was so lovely

I am officially addicted to your videos John....have been blessed to visit London so many many times but am learning so much from you...have noticed of late when it is sunny in Delaware🇱🇷 it is raining in London!
New Castle Delaware
Glasgow accents are bit rougher, more gutteral than Edinburgh, well to my ears anyway. Edinburgh has a softer lilt to their accent. If anyone dislikes that comment, I have a Glasgow accent :)
Aye I agree with you from Gourock Scotland on the Clyde .
Thanks for the info. i love UK TV but always use subtitles. I'm from Texas (it's across the pond). There are different accents all over Texas which just might require subtitles too.
I use too have say to Effie, Effie please space your words out I cannah understand you.
There are plenty of edinburgh accents that are as rough as....
Another great video on the pier and bridge and areas thank you for showing it
Every time you speak something in happening I start to think your reading a time table. Love your comments daily. You’re a great ambassador to the UK. Love from Australia 🇦🇺
It was lovely to watch the latest HORSE TRUST video yesterday, five Troopers, 4 blacks and Kensington the grey, arrived to go into retirement. They were all released in a huge green paddock where they all galloped off kicking their heels! ☺️
The banter in the regiments must be brilliant xxxxx
Fiona all British army regiments have banter it is part of being an the British army.
I love your channel and the way you explain things it gives me good understanding of things in London keep up the good work
Phoenix is gorgeous love his markings xxxxx
Thanks for the videos some good views of London . Some lovely horses love to hear your sense of humour.😊Take care John x
I'm French and I love London, never mind the weather. Thanks for your videos.
Thank you again John, for another wonderful video thanks Takecare xxxxx
Great video’s really enjoy watching, thanks. My father was an army officer in the Royal Signals,he had a posting here at horse guards
Between 1955 and 1957, there were a few tourists then but absolutely nothing like today where people are falling over themselves and you would never see anyone messing with horses or guards.
Lovely to see the trooper laugh!!! 😂😂😂 Great video John...always love your talks with tourists!!! 😀😀😀 xxxxx
John thank you for another wonderful tour of London. On way to horse guards. 😊
You need to get u Tube cards to give out to people that wants them. The smile from the guard was great, so happy to see they listen and get some enjoyment in the hour there setting there. Thanks John, great video.
Hello John 😀. It's been pouring ( I'm being polite here 😂) all day here on Tyneside rain , wind and sea fog , a glorious day 😐. The cat was not impressed and sensibly retired back to bed . Wow , beautiful police horse Yorkshire , ( same as the beautiful county ) no offence to our U.S. friends but he's not a Paint or a Pinto , in U.K they are piebald if black and white , skewbald if brown and white and not a particular breed . Another beauty Phoenix , I love the horses with some feathers on their legs , Monty , Indiana , Kensington , Radford , they are teddy bears 😍😍😍. Lovely smile from the Trooper , yes they're on duty but still human 😁. The lady Trooper , someone said the other day you shouldn't call them lady , I personally don't see why not , but " it is what it is " right John ! A big Hello to the young people from Leon , to the British children and teachers who had a great photo with the chitsman and said " thank you " afterwards , and to the gents from Brooklyn , hope you all had a good day ! See you in part 2 John xxx
Thank you John for the video it was great .
Thank you very much to give us your UA-cam channel because it’s fantastic and you let us visit London even when we are in Lyon.
Ps I’m the one with the black with white dots backpack ( the one who talked)😊

Good evening John, a little bit late, but I do enjoy another glorious video! Despite or maybe just because of the rain, I assume you had a great day at horseguards. Never a dull day!
Great I couldn't stop laughing at the guy from Brooklyn.
Thank you is just one word but how far it goes when you say it to appreciate someone or something. Xxxxxx

Seeing the pier that my son's "Welcome to Regents American Cruise" departed and returned to more than ten years ago was pretty sweet.
Another enjoyable vid today John, thankyou. Would like to share that I have finally converted hubby to watching you, we now watch together at our lunchtime in NZ 😊
I love how that tall child at 1:10:29 moves the little girl to the front of the group so that she could be seen in the group picture. Someone is a good child and has excellent manners and a precious heart.
I only found your channel a few days ago and have binge watched ever since. I am an ex Pat born brought up a Geordie however from the age of 10 years I visited London for a long weekend every year until I came to work in NewZealand aged 57 and where I still live. It’s great seeing the horses and getting to know them not to mention seeing the troopers and the information you provide. 😄👏👍 1:16 1:16

Dear @LonndonCityWalks Host. You've brought me so much watching & listening to you everyday & I just want you to know that. I've been stuck in bed for almost 2 yrs & I don't even see a tree outside my window. ) Anyway ,thanks to you I've agreed to go to re-hab as I now see what I'm missing. 😇🥰
Am glad to see that one trooper make it to the end today. That Boston tourist made a lot of people laugh today am sure. Phoenix, nose markings are so cool.
Thank you John
A big Hello There to the Brooklyn guys from a former Brooklyn gal (now a Londoner).
I appreciate your commentary regarding your strolls to film the King’s Guard, it makes your videos far more engaging than the others that post an hour of silent footage. I’m American and the mounted police horse Yorkshire is known as a paint or pinto in the states. The markings vary widely and Yorkshire’ has one of the most unique looks for a pinto or paint horse. If you are old enough to have ever seen “ The Lone Ranger” the horse Tonto rode in the series was a typical paint or pinto.
Here in Washington state we call that kind of rain “a smattering” of rain. (when it’s just barely raining) 😁😎 Love the video and your channel! 💕🐴🇬🇧
Northwest WA here, it does get wet 😊
