Ambient FM 106.4 Manchester Early 90's Deep Jungle / Drum N Bass Pirate Radio EP1
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 жов 2024
- One of the first shows to be broadcast on manchester's Ambient FM pirate radio 1993/94 taken from a 20 year old cassette.
This was on the first frequency 105.9FM before switching to 106.4
More of an experimental broadcast while we were fine tuning the signal and levels, there where no technics in the studio at this time just some cheap crappy belt driven turntables,
Ste P & DjH deep Jungle
This is THE shit. Sound of the UK. No boy test. They said this music would never last. WE STILL HERE 😎
Being form the London area, we had so many pirate stations in the 90's, but I always though the Northern ones were cooler, more mysterious... Thanks for the upload!

@@donnaken15 Same Here!
@@donnaken15 i found it! ua-cam.com/video/Sopb9BKsl_g/v-deo.html the one from this mix has another overlapping track
Man, just when I find it today or yesterday
Also coincidentally, Deep Jungle dropped Hopa & Bones' VIP release of Mystical Horns or whichever
Old tapes give such a nice lo-fi saturation effect, I love the way it flattens and smears the kicks and snares. Even if you get these records they wont sound this 'vintage' when you play them.

agreed, cherry on top of the incredible selection
Man I'm a pretty big junglist and a particular fan of the atmospheric style - but I recognise almost none of these tunes. I wonder how many of these beautiful tunes were micro-run dubplates that have been lost forever. :(
Mallard Puddleduck paticularly, I'd be interested in the track at 20:45 if anyone could help...
Same bro! Respect
@@MallardGryph did you ever find any info on it? it's been bugging me for months
@@cos210 I actually did, yes!
It's hopa and bones - mystical horns.
The preceeding track is advantage - theme from advantage!
@@MallardGryph legend, absolute legend
some of the best jungle i've ever heard, thank you so much for preserving pirate radio history
🆒️🆒️🆒️🐩
Awesome Era 90s
THIS IS AMAZING, more awesome than most of the nowdays DNB stuff that we listen everywhere, simply golden, given the simplicity of the the mix makes it even more awesome, pure gold, I have never listened the musics in it, yet I am extremely fan of DNB and Jungle, this is just gold, really awesome.
Would love the tracklist if it exists.
+Denis Henrique Vidott (LordManson) 8 months after I posted this, I always listen to this mix atleast once a week, yeah, massive, still my favorite, give me goosebumps in some parts.
+Denis Henrique Vidott (LordManson) respect you cant beat these old tunes music is so shite these days big ups
13:44 Is when this really hits its stride with a good balance of simple heavy bass notes and just the right amount of snare complexity.
That tune around 16:50 is SO good
please someone post a tracklist
1 years old when this came out :O
I was in my uni hall room, Sackville Street, adjusting my aerial trying to get it to stay locked!
Listened every week and taped them all!!! Shits on major lazer and the like!!!

14:55 into the mix: that track... I have been searching for it since my old cassette broke back in the 90's. Anyone knows who made it or the name of it?
I found it: Advantage - Theme from advantage
classic tune
I was there from the start of the jungle events in London and Birmingham and by time Manchester got on to it! it was a commercial thing and Manchester saw it as a thug thing and dark etc! but I must of missed these shows!
I was in Manchester in 1992 to 1998, jungle was happening from 1990, other places were acid house, when I got to the south in 1998 it was breakbeat garage, and rave, DNB became commercial in the south in the 2010s, jungle never hit the clubs and scene anywhere but Manchester, black London were still reggae, and soul, it was Manchester that pumped the jungle sounds down south, but by that point jungle got band in Manchester by bass a brewery that also band rave music in Manchester to because they couldn't make money on the events because if the alternative consumptions that were being taken.....it was acid house up north in 1990 to 1992, but that didn't hit London at all......❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
And it wasn't a thug thing, jungle house parties would be so packed you dance shoulder to shoulder and rock and sway in small motions giving a hand forward from the elbow, tucked to your side, it seriously was all you could do to dance, and the lights were kept down so no one could be seen smoking the reefer, or cigarettes as it would be a no no big time in such a crowded place,a lot of white people were not allowed in and when I went to an event in Manchester the MC chatted about me being with a white person, but he'll those black communities suffered under white supremacists in Manchester I know I'm mixed race, but places like mosside, old Trafford, levenshulme, whether white black or Asian had one thing in common poverty and ultimately kept the scene in Manchester peaceful, it was only the police and the Irish that made war with each other......don't know about Manchester today, as I love on the southcoast now, and music is shit down here since all the free parties have ended......😮😅😊😢🎉😂
@@lilianfrance5810 so apart from the hacienda and PSV Caribbean club where was the first jungle events in Manchester because I was living in Manchester on and off around that time and I have gone out there all my life from the early hip hop all dayers in ardwick and greenheys community centre Moss side and bboy events and then the soul at the gallery and play pen and legends and the very start of the house from the African and Caribbean club in moss side and then hacienda every week and the kitchen after to thunder Dome and the first jungle events in Manchester i went to were the psv darkhouse in the Caribbean club Hulme and hacienda before they stopped them but before any jungle events in Manchester I heard of id been going to the roast Astoria from 93 and all over the country from Bristol Nottingham but mostly Birmingham the Que club the Amazon Wolverhampton and the hummingbird and Aston villa sports centre and the first jungle night i ever went to when the hardcore was popular and they were isolating the break beat and hip hop breaks and calling it jungle techno... Djs were ss. Groove rider Fabio etc... it was handsworth leisure centre Birmingham 91.... By 94 i started seeing a lot of young people and jungle being seen as a dark gangster thing when it wasn't it was for the real music head's... Of course when you have longsight Dodington and Gooch with people busting live shots into the ceiling like the Bryan gee night at the psv darkhouse Caribbean club of course it was being seen as that...
@@lilianfrance5810 ua-cam.com/video/r5MZCzuuYls/v-deo.htmlsi=Cc7yfQ9ujnosZ86g
@@lilianfrance5810 I take it you missed it when Moss side and cheetham Hil were fighting over the door and substance control over the doors of the hacienda and lots of other clubs and of course Salford..... I've lived there at different periods and still go every week as it's half hour down the road....
Jungle Bells Batman Smells a million miles away! :D

Sounds like late 93 - 94
wonder how many times they had to change fequency lol still good stuff tho, turn it up people.
@Mallard Puddleduck loads mate, it was a good thing though better to have loads slip through the net rather than police fuck up the airwaves!
10:40 another one
Anyone know the track that's fully mixed in at approx. 48:00? So spacey, love it!
all i can remember it was on basement records respect classic tune
Can anyone tell me if this stuff was written predominantly on MPCs or was it more mostly tracker software?
Found out it was exclusively done using trackers and sampling racks. Would have been a laborious task, much dedication to the craft required.
tune at 20:30
been hunting for months and months but can never find it, someone please help direct me with some information
Joseph Kemp “Hopa & Bones - Mystical Horns”
