Hi psb, and welcome to the channel! I have since I made these videos traded in my D5600 for a D7500, but I hope you will stay onboard still. I make videos about being new to photography and hope there is also something useful for you. And if you have any questions regarding the D5600 please let me know - Nikon cameras often speak the same language and I am sure I can find a way to be of assistance. All the best!

@@frederikboving Thank you, Frederik! Of course I will stick around. I like your style of presentation of a subject under discussion. Very cool and informative, and not too fast pace for someone who is a new to the subject. Just perfect. I'm planning to keep watching your other videos about photography as well.

@@frederikboving Is there any way to experience "exposure simulation" on D5600? When I'm focusing on a subject to be photographed and changing aperture (for example) of the camera I do not see any visual brightness change on the LCD Live View screen. Such process is known as "exposure simulation". I can experience this on my other camera Sony RX100, but it looks like D5600 doesn't offer that. have you experienced this as well?

@frederikboving first let me congratulate you on your videos, alway very clear and easy to understand. I do have 1 question regarding minimum shutter speed, if I set that at ay 1/80, or anything, it doesnt seem to work when in Aperture mode, and the click from the shutter release seems to take at least a second. I have it set on Continuous H in release mode. Is there another setting that I should adjusting in the menu? appreciate your thoughts?

Hi Kevan, thank you for your kind words! When you put your camera in aperture priority mode, you are making a deal with the camera: I as the photographer decide the aperture, whereas you camera, decide the shutter speed. So you have given up control on the shutter speed when shooting in aperture priority mode. To get a correctly exposed image, the camera can now only regulate the shutter speed. And as such it happily ignores what you have asked it to respect in terms of shutter speed. It probably needs to keep the shutter open for a long time to reach the right exposure.
      What to do?
      1) Open up the aperture - smaller f/stop numbers. This should shorten the exposure time.
      2) Add more light to the scene (e.g. flash)
      3) Set the ISO free using Auto ISO. Then the camera has 2 variables to play with, but you may find that it goes high in ISO to make ends meet.
PS: The release mode is not related to the exposure.
      Best
      Frederik

Hi Rajan, you go into the menu system: menu button -> Setup menu (the wrench) -> info display format -> select P/S/A/M. Highlight one of the 6 designs and press ok and you are good to go!

How to switch off the aperture mode? Turn the mode dial back to auto, i.e. so that the green "auto" is aligned with the little white dot.
