Thank you to CRWBY for an absolutely outstanding Volume. They pushed themselves to improve on all fronts, and it certainly showed. It was a rollercoaster ride, and with the things this finale have set up, we're set to dive right back in head-first for Volume 8 this autumn.
Here's to the team that keeps the dream going. Have a good, happy, healthy hiatus everyone! Be seeing you again soon.
Ironwood, what happened to you :(
I think he'll have his redemption in the next couple volumes. He'll see his mistake and probably end up sacrificing himself to stop Salem or save one of the characters.
In the end his fear of failure will outweigh his fear of her
Btw loves your videos Arnold!
He lost his way. I just hope Ruby and friends realize their mistakes and save qrow. I knew Watts was alive. Had a gut feeling, but still. It took 2 volumes from volume 3 for the good guys to win. Hopefully it will only take one. The opening of Ironwood shooting someone is a foreshadow and reflection of him shooting oscar and himself. By shooting Oscar he kills the part that was human. He may be cold and callous when he did it, but the opening might be that way deep down he regrets it. Murderofbirds if you read in your reaction or livestream say Darth Ironwood. Ironwood is now fallen to the dark side and become a Sith lord.
The signs were all there from the start. Ironwood has always been an autocrat.
Fear is a terribly powerful thing, my friend. It suffocates and isolates, festers and twists reality. Even those we consider to be the strongest, the kindest, those with the best hearts, can succumb to it under the right circumstances. James thought he had to carry the weight of the world on his own. He thought he had to protect Remnant, to be the hero for his people, no matter what, and it made him into exactly what he was trying to fight against.
He's moving from being the Tin Man to being Captain Ahab and we all know what happened to him with that whale.
"You're asking the wrong questions, Red. It's not what I have to gain, but that I can't afford to lose." - Roman Torchwick
Why did he have to diiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeee
I don't think he ever actually said about what he had to lose tbh.
SonicNitro Which is a common problem with this show, not enough explanations or they are done rather poorly.
@@HaloNoble1 The big problem is balancing the explanations on that sweet spot between info dump exposition spoon feeding, and being so insanely cryptic or leaving no hints at all to keep viewers in the dark.
In this case though I think Roman was talking about Neo, since he completely lost his cool and beat the hell out of Ruby after she yeeted Neo off the airship.
dreadrath hilarious that ruby yeeted neo

In the end, it seems like fear will be the enemy to trust
A great foil to the intro which was Trust Love.
Tyrian was also an enemy to trust
Jo A Writer Ozpin was a shady character, but you can’t deny how wise he is. That was a hell of a good speech
This song is a great foil.
Agreed... I love Ozpin and, he has to be my favorite character but, he was so, very shady.
Also, Tyrian was only trusted to a certain degree and, that still backfired, haha.
@@MechanizedAngelz You would be too if everyone you met screwed you over, over and over again. It's hard to trust people after Ozpin has lived for so long.
Lionheart lost his courage (and briefly regained it), Ironwood lost his heart, now we wait for Qrow to lose his mind.
Oh no
Well im not suprised due to his bad luck.
I think he already did with that whole teaming up with Tyrian thing
What would happen if he didn't try to suppress his semblance? How more unlucky can a man who lost a family member and teammate get?

Many people in this volume did things out of fear.
-- RWBY lied to Ironwood out of fear of his reaction.
-- Ironwood put the need of Atlas and the Relic and Maiden above Mantle out of fear of Salem
-- Ironwood kept the knowledge of Operation Amity from the council out of fear of interlopers
-- The council listened to Ironwood out of fear of...well him
-- Ren failed to apprehend Neo out of fear of losing Nora
-- Qrow initial rejects Clover's attempt of camaraderie out of fear of his Semblance
-- Ironwood turns his back on everyone out of fear of losing to Salem.
As said by one General Donald Doyle “Courage is not the absence of fear, it is acting in spite of it”. Many people gave into fear and lacked the courage to overcome it.
💯💯💯This whole season was mainly about"FEAR". And they gave into their"FEAR". Now our Queen has arrived to deal with them. Don't get me wrong I like the heroes but Salem is waay cooler in my opinion. So I'm team Salem. #Lettheslaughterbegininvolume8
@@bradleyaustinjr.2253 the great cleansing is upon us

Blake and Yang betrayed the others out of fear of killing again; Robyn was afraid of Ironwood's plans; Willow's cameras for fear of Jaques; and Cinder's desperation out of fear of loosing her chance at ultimate power.

@@drako-ss Good point. Didn't think about that.
smugsè ___ Well, if he kills Oscar, then Ozpin will revive in a new body and not Oscar. It’s a win win for Ironwood really.
@@Duckeasily I'm not overly fond of Oscar, myself. I confess, I got somewhat giddy when he was shot, only to realize Oz would save him.
"If we fall and lose ourselves to fear, we've become what we feared all along."
This sums up what happened to Ironwood perfectly. He was so afraid of losing to Salem that he ended up doing what she wanted him to do all along; dividing the good-guys and putting their lives in danger.
Seems very accurate to be honest. I can't wait to see how Volume 8 goes down.
He isn't completely at fault. after all, Crwby had a big play in that department. whether or not telling robyn of his plans is not yang or blake's choice. and to have them keep this a secret for so long made it even worse. ironwood had every reason to be furious, and now of all times. And qrow making a temporary truce with tyrian of all people was one of the dumbest things i've seen him do. the ace operative leader was trying to do his job. Qrow should be ashamed.
@@LucinaMarthLowell that and he didn't seem to want to arrest qrow either, he was just informing him and wanted to see what the heck was going on once they returned to Atlas. robyn escalated the situation for absolutely no reason
In a situation where those with experience say that it’s an Unwinnable situation, you don’t throw a tantrum, you just save as many as you can. I believe that Ruby is so in the wrong. Atlas seemed to have lost most of their forces at the fall of Beacon and then exhausted what was left during the attack. I know Ruby is the chosen one and she is just going to silver eyes at the right time but I would not gamble the lives of everyone just on someone who says their right.
To be fair, I think everyone fell for fear, not just Ironwood.
Ruby in fact started the chain of events leading to the divide from first being afraid of betrayal from another headmaster (ironwood) even when he was doing everything to earn their trust.
So, in a sense even our heroes fell for Salem's machinations.
If you listen to Oscar’s Leitmotif and then this song there’s so many instances of the same tune etc... but it’s just in a piano version. Based on what happened in episode 13, I feel like this is an Oscar song despite its female vocals.
I think it's Oscar/Ozpin to ironwood
Ironwood will get redeemed
I honestly don't hear it. This song uses just a glimpse of it probably. But Oscar's theme has more distinctive melody to it and I can't hear it in here.
Also this song is more about everyone, because everyone's afraid of something like Oz said.
If Oscar's to have his own song it should have more specific info on Oscar's arc. And he's far more then a boy in fear.
But I will agree that fear is a part of Oscar's character since he was the one to talk about it with Ironwood. I wouldn't say it's his own song.
THANK YOU!!! I was going crazy trying to think why I kept unintentionally humming a theme each time I listened to this yesterday after the episode aired. Was thinking Oscar but wasn't sure.
@@kappapride6332 near the end of his theme in chapter 1 of volume 4 you hear the beginning piano almost exactly. His leitmotif is very distinct and my favorite leitmotif in the show, and it doesn't show in this song, but this is what i think is the Oscar/Ozpin theme.
@@dmillz5501 look, if anything I'm convinced that it's Oscar talking to Ironwood kind of song. Not his own, but something similar to Nevermore which was Bees dissing Adam. When I said I don't hear Oscar's theme I mean exactly the most distinctive part of his leitmotifs. This song only had a small part of his leitmotifs and this exact part doesn't seem to appear anywhere else in his leifmotifs.
Can we talk about how Casey has improved so much over the course of the show??? This is fire and it wouldn’t be the same without her :0
This! Her voice keeps getting stronger!
Really? I'm kind of sick of Casey. All of the music has lost its charm because it feels the same. Every damned song is sung by the same person.
@@saturn7437 although it may seem like her voice gets repetitive many people really dont care because one, it sounds good and two, many try to find the hidden meanings in all the songs but still enjoy Casey's singing
@@saturn7437 Volume 7 is keeping things fresh by bringing in a variety of other singers to collaborate on the soundtrack, so I'm not too sure where this complaint is coming from.
@@Cepheus773 This is exactly what I was thinking. Jeff sings with Casey for Brand New Day, Adrienne, Erin and Dawn sing with Casey in War, Celebrate seems to be almost all Santi C with a bit of Casey singing along, while Hero is all Caleb Hyles. There's a ton of different artists working on this year's soundtrack, and who knows maybe Lamar will be in it as a surprise too. Add that to all the different genres and moods of songs we're getting this time, I believe this soundtrack is the most unique and stands out above the rest! And it's not even out yet. So I don't understand the complaint of the songs losing their charm either.

I've seen too many arguments about who was right. But the truth is that nobody was. Not entirely. Fear manipulated all our heroes, and the only winner is Salem. What I really like about V7 is how they gave us a complex and nuanced situation. Its a lot more morally ambiguous than previous volumes, and I think that shows a maturation of the show and the writing.
This so much.
Team RWBY and friends made bad decisions, but that was their reaction to Ironwood's bad decisions. And then Watt's and Tyrian got involved, which snowballed things, causing both sides making more mistakes until things reached breaking point. It ultimately ended with both factions of heroes opposed to each other.
Which, you know, is what Salem wanted.
Maverickmak91, that was like the only good part of V7 though sadly. It had such a huge potential. But.... Sadly it didnt go well
TonyNite What went wrong about volume 7?
@@mamitomoe982 They did so much wrong with volume 7. First off. This was Wiess's season. Yet she got just about NO screentime. Along with other characters stealing it. Second off. No one in the Schnee family had any issues with faunus walking around. Yet it was clearly stated in Volume 1 that Weiss hated faunus due to the white fang's effect on her family. (Which of course she changed her mind about faunus obviously). Third off Ironwood was the only part that was even in the slightest interesting. If you wanna hear more reasoning you should look into it yourself, I dont feel like elaborating too much to be honest.
@@Tonyscarface04 when did anyone say it was Weiss' season? Yes, Atlas, and she was important to the Jacques subplot. Weiss learned to like faunus like anyone else, and we know she gets her attitudes from Winter, who we've been shown is a reasonable person -- why would we assume she hates them too? Jacques didn't see any, there's probably a reason there are no faunus in his mansion.
Can't respond to the rest lol I found the whole thing interesting.
Is it weird I think this season was one of the best for the fact it dealt with the concept of watching someone with good intentions try to make the right choices only to be lied to by his allies and in turn become a tyrant hellbent on trying to do what's right?

Hate is usually an extension of fear. When we are afraid we experience a loss of control, humans naturally resent losing control so we lash out at the source of that loss.
In the end hate is just a way of trying to establish some kind of control over what we fear.
I saw someone on twitter say they think this sounds like Ozpin and Oscar talking to Ironwood and it honestly does
it's because they are merging. he was even moving like oscar and at the end when Ironwood shot him he called him james instead of General as he used to.

I just think of Pyrrha with this song; how the 3 episodes leading to her death were just misery for her, fear of losing herself while fulfilling her "destiny". She made the ultimate sacrifice to give her life for others. She knew she wouldn't survive. She faced her fears
I miss her... I hope Jaune and Pyrrha can find each other again, even if in the afterlife. I would like to see them dance again; see her happy. And dang, I miss that voice, too
We've still got "Red Haired Woman"
Oh god...Now I'm imagining *Pyrrah* singing this song and it hurts.
But hey, remember this. A maiden's power transfer transfer's a portion of their soul. Meaning that, for the brief contact between Amber, Pyrrha and Cinder, a portion of Pyrrha is inside Cinder. Tink about it, Cinder only started using swords more after the volume she killed Pyrrha. She also didn't kill Jaune every chance she had... also the spear thing against Weiss... think about it.
It is said that power always reveals a person's true character. I think powerlessness is similarly revealing.
Like how cinder keeps trying to become more powerful because she's afraid of being powerless. She wants more and more without an end goal. She even thinks she's starving despite being a maiden.

I can't believe Oscar finally got a theme
And his is AMAZING.
Now, I'm not usually one for rock, but I love that marshmallow!
Ironwood built his vow to save humanity on fear of the unknown. Trust was the foundation on which he ruled, and RWBY broke the one thing that mattered to him from his allies. Distrust is the biggest ally of division, the very thing Salem wants.
He'll realize his mistakes, and I think he'll end up sacrificing himself to conquer his ear of the Grimm. His fear of Her.
Because to him, the fear of failure is far stronger than the fear of Her.
He didn’t make mistakes though. Yes he was clearly afraid and desperate but he was still as calm as possible, rational and listening to his allies all of whom he put a ton of faith in including rwby. Things would have hit the fan anyway yes. But rwby made a lot of bad things worse. Yes I understand not telling him about Salem but why keep the last question from him? Why spill vital plans to someone who James has reason to distrust. No bashing JNR tho. All they want is to not let 3 become 2. Though they should’ve just put Jaune as group captain.
This song, it's almost perfect for what I'm going through. Two months ago my life was amazing, everything seemed to be going great. My company was doing well, I found new and amazing friends, dealt with my suicidal issues. It seemed I could be really happy.
Then everything changed.. corona struck china, shutting down the suppliers I was working with to get my products to the USA. Suddenly a voice in my head reappeared, telling me terribly things, only to learn I had schizophrenia. I had tried to frind a new manufacturing company in the usa to get these products to the customers. Only to be scammed out of 100kUSD. Then corona struck my town and we all had to be quarantined, I could and still cant see my friends as often. I dont know what to do next. But it sure is scary. I've been binging rwby to forget the worries. Thanks for this song. Really touches me and remembers that I still have to be human to fix this, and people who love me even if they are far. Will help me.
Even if everything changes.
Ironwood is such a great example of the archetypical tragic hero. Fallen not because of a change of morals or being bad but because of his mistakes, a fatal flaw.
I feel for him. The weight of the world was on his shoulder and it broke him in the end. I hope he finds some peace some day.
Ironwood sacrificed his humanity to stop Salem, the one thing that Salem didn't have anymore. It's like Oscar said "and your just as dangerous as she is."

“Fear itself isn’t worthy of concern, it is who we become while in it’s clutches.” - Prof. Ozpin
I wish PBS would do a special event at Austin City Limits with Jeff, Casey Lee, and the orchestra and do a RWBY "Vale City Limits" concert. That would be awesome to showcase the music we all enjoy.
Yo!
A storm's coming....The stage is set....Time to start the game.... 😨💖💖
@Mean Timbits but will it be a winner winner chicken dinner?! 😨😂😂😅💖
@Mean Timbits THEY BETTER NOT TOUCH MY BOI! If James even lays a finger on him I will make sure he BURRRRNSSSS! 💖
@Mean Timbits he is my favourite too! And noooo definitely don't kill Yang either, I will settle for a dead Cinder and Tyrian though :3
@Mean Timbits nah it makes sense he is and I expected him to but I predict he too will die next Volume similar to how Roman survived Volume 2 to be captured, then freed and then killed in Volume 3 plus Watts is one of my faves so more Watts is great news but I do anticipate a death next Volume definitely! 💖
Mean Timbits Yang dying would destroy Ruby

I think "Feel proud or betray?" is supposed to be "Feel proud or betrayed?" as it rhymes with "When you're afraid"
Yes, you're correct haha. I'll hopefully be putting up a different version when the soundtrack drops with that correction.
This song rivals with "When It Falls". And thanks for the upload.
It's beautiful how the moon color changes to red!😍
I like this a thousand times more than the opening. I'm no expert but it feels so much more varied and alive than other recent RWBY songs. The optimism of the other songs gets a bit one-note after a while and fails in it's underlying goal of uplifting people because it gives them one more excuse not to do the work of actually facing their fears and worries.
This on the other hand says: "You need to let it out," only it's all the more beautiful for doing it with respect and grace.
Allay a person's fears, and you save his soul for a day. Get him to accept his fears and you change him for a lifetime.
Oscar-Fear
Ironwood-Hero
And yet these two themes are meant to be flipped if anything, Ironwood had given into his Fear and Oscar still holds his resolve, just as a hero would. Im curious as to how their interactions will go in the next volumes
"My friends call me James....to you, it's General."
This song is so relevant right now. Most people are scared and because of their fear some people are doing irrational things and just bad things like ironwood or you have people despite of their fear don’t like it control on them and as I’ve seen many people point Oscar was pretty much the only one who didn’t let his fear really control him even though he was scared to me the positive themes that RWBY has a extremely important as even in dark times like this we can get through it with our love for each other and hope.
I’m going to star college and I will admit I’m scared I’m scared if it’s going to go well and stuff but times when I’m scared I listen to this song as it helps motivate me to acknowledge even though I’m scared I can’t let it control me and unfortunately my friends let fear control them and I just want to help to teach them it’s okay to be scared but to not fear control you.
@@Tabarnthebrave Fear is a very complicated emotion. We're predisposed to be afraid of a lot, especially what is unknown or uncertain. Sometimes the best you can do is have courage yourself, and set an example for others that way.
I think you are right.
I’m sorry to dispute this but the statement “most people are scared of something” is incorrect. Every living being that ever existed or will exist is scared of something. If anyone ever tells you that they fear nothing then they’re lying.
Your right.
Volume 7’s theme was trust and by the way the finale set up Volume 8 its theme is going to be fear
E’s Subliminals No fear was definitely the theme for this volume
Just A Standard JP it was the theme for the final arc which is what’s to set up the theme for volume 8. Throughout the story Team rwby was struggling on who to trust and Yang and Blake betrayed Ironwood. Fear only became present near the end.
E’s Subliminals Ah yes my bad maybe i didn’t read it properly how stupid lol
And now with volume 8 theme being distrust it going to be very very bad with yang and ruby fighting each other.
Love how the moon slowly turns into red.
Nice touch.
"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself..."
This was perfect timing for the corona virus outbreak imo.. XD
CRWBY said Volume 8 will last for 2 days...
Oh god ;-;
Team Rwby:Trust Love
Team Ironwood:Trust Fear
Unrelated but it reminds me of a quote from Star Wars Rebels. "Listen, everyone's afraid but admitting it just like you did, makes you braver than most."
Ey, They gave my boy Oscar a song!
the fact that this song is relevant in the real world right now is kinda scary
Ikr
I just haven't been feeling this soundtrack this season. Until this song.
The last song i felt any thing from was bad luck charm
Drinking game: Take a shot every time you hear the word "fear."
Salem-"time was your ally humans but now it has abandoned you. I have come"
The second verse talks about how his fear took over when ozpin became part if him. I love how throughout the serious hes had too adjust to ozpin and not just be like okay this is my life now
Salem: I am...inevitable.
Anthony Fanchin RWBY: And we have the power of Friendship and plot armor to kick your ass.
Ruby: And I...am....a Huntress

"absolute fear corrupts absolutely" - ablert washington
Funny you should make a joke about that, because author Robert A. Caro - who spoke about his belief in Lord Acton's axiom when writing his books about President Johnson - turned that original quote rather succinctly on its head. Fear, like power, does not corrupt absolutely - what it does is _reveal_ absolutely. When you give someone enough power to do what they always wanted to do, then you see what that person always wanted to do. Likewise, when someone is left only with their fear staring them in the face, you see who that person truly is.
...Is it weird for me to think that this song seems to represent the current situation of the world we live in now?
Considering... "You know what" has been unleashed upon the world?
"Fear changes all of our choices"
That’s how I’ve choose to look at it I think this song is incredibly relevant
@H K I snorted.
I’d say this is the point of view is everyone, Qrow, Ironwood, Oscar, Cinder But bro when it I read “lucky” I cried
Clover WAS lucky in a horrible sick way. He died never knowing how far the man he trusted his life to had fallen. He never had to face the fear of the unstoppable force that is Salem. And he got to watch a beautiful sunrise by the side of someone who truly cared about him, all with enough time to apologize in his own way and wish that person good fortune with his dying breath... *Cries*
I view this song as Oscar's addressed to everyone (beginning of Fear matches his Leitmotif roughly 43 to 45 seconds in -I recommend Changyuraptor's Leitmotif vids if you're interested) but yeah, it many ways this song was the perfect end to V7 - Two small souls in green stayed brave, the 'lucky' one lived out his days never feeling it, and everyone else became the enemies in some way fear crept in and they made mistakes whether it be lies, to pushing others away, to believing there was no hope and that everyone was against them, and finally to willingly becoming a monster to 'do the right thing'...
For everything that's happening this year this song is so relevant
Wow, this line
"who will you see, there in the darkness"
That sent shivers through my spine
I still say that Ironwood had a better plan that Ruby did at the end
Both plans were bad and good in different ways. Ironwood’s was more realistic, definitely. I think next volume RWBY will have an arc about realizing that they can’t always save everyone
Ironwood's was certainly the more *realistic* and achievable plan, because really, sometimes you just *can't* save everyone. As sad as it is, sometimes you have to cut your losses and just save who you can.
On the other hand though, while I think Ironwood had the right idea to retreat and regroup, I think team RWBY *also* had a point in that Ironwood was throwing in the towel too early and just giving up on trying to save Mantle due to his fear of Salem.
Ultimately, (though I haven't seen any of Volume 8 yet, however I do know the broad strokes of what happens that season, so I might change my opinion based on how it goes, but going off of how 7 ended) I think the right choice to make would have been to combine RWBY and Ironwood's plans, fight to evacuate as much of Mantle as possible while prepping Atlas to flee, and then retreating once the line can't possibly hold anymore... regardless of how much of Mantle might be left behind.
Lion lost his courage, tin man lost his heart, and scarecrow lost his brains. Wonder what the Shade academy professor is going to lose.

@@ryanrandles9817 That got me fucking *good.*
Her way home
That could mean that the shade academy headmaster could be based off Dorothy? But she just wanted to go home so maybe she just going to lose the relic in attempt of protecting it?
2020's overall theme
whale eating penny next volume
Pietro too
Yeah BUT WE FOTTA WAIT TILL FALL 2020
You mean Pinokio? Who is Penny? Propably Jepeto will be there too.
@@duboleaks What
It’s worth noting that Penny is now one of the maidens. She should not be killed off again considering she now has a very important role to play.
Parts of the instrumentation gives me a nostalgic feeling for some reason. The first thing I pictured while listening for the first time was my early days when I listened to Evanescence and other such bands around that time in my youth.
Sadly true how those backed into a corner don't know who to trust I became someone somewhat similar to Iron wood for the one who created this story I must say bless them for pointing something out as large as fear and how it can convert people into the monsters they swore to defeat
I consider this Oscar's theme
They can't keep leaving me on these cliffhangers like this
This Song has a new meaning, FEAR of losing it's identity
Every line gave me chills
It's so GOOD!
Very good song of this finale of Rwby volume 7 and can't wait for the soundtrack this summer.
They way Casey performed these vocals, brings so much emotion to the song. I find myself tearing up a little bit and lament how it all went. Definitely looking forward to Volume 7 OST the most out of any previous ones.
I just realized that the show is amazing with what and how and why it happened... I think they did a good job despite any rights and wrongs within the show itself. Despite every song is so freaking cool, this one song stands out among every one of them. Now I have fear of what is going to happen next volume.
Let's not forget that this is for Monty Oum... the upload date is memorial.
THIS VOLUME WAS AMAZING!!
God, this is just... the best song ever. Of all time.
