The way you’ve paired scenes together just works so well?! I love how :58-1:10 is this complicated tangle of scenes of people walking out on Amelia, Amelia being at peace with being alone, and then Amelia being the one to walk away from Owen for the sake of her sobriety. Something really cool is the emotional parallel between these lines: “It’s not your fault. You’re just… not in this with me.” And “Are you here for THAT?” I don’t even remember that first line: what episode it came from or why she said it or who she said it to. But both lines point to the same thing. What she needs from a partner is someone who understands how trauma has shaped her life, the limits of her mental health, and the support system she needs in order to choose sobriety even on the bad days. And ultimately, that’s not the kind of relationship she was able to build with Owen. The contrast between her grief for Christopher and her relief that Betty is alive was another moment that stuck out to me. Even more powerful for how it’s followed by that scene where she’s crying in the hallway, and you can just tell that she’s crying because she’s terrified that she’s going to lose Betty the same way she lost her son.

Also, I read your description after commenting earlier, and I think you did wonderful work using only GA scenes. You didn't need PP to show Amelia's complex issues around all these subjects, especially with the way you cut the scenes/dialogue together. I think this video benefits from being as tight as it is! And SAME. They used to be my favorite couple but right around the time they started arguing about Betty, I got exhausted with their constant on-and-off again relationship.

I love, LOVE the way you linger on those breakdowns, not backing away or cutting away from those moments, letting us feel every single emotion in those moments, making it almost uncomfortable. The theme of not being good enough, not measuring up enough to your own standards is one we can all relate to and so ending it on that scene of her getting that moment of loving herself and what she can offer was absolutely perfect and healing. Your GA videos are always so sublime and they never fail to make me feel things for people I don't even know that well most of the time
Her breakdown in front of the mirror is just chef kiss acting, it's a crime to cut it in any way (though I kinda have only half here). I appreciate you telling me this, because it's kinda the norm not to leave big chuncks of footage in there unedited and with Greys Im just, I'll do the opposite! And what about it! Thank you 💘

i've loved-slash-appreciated many grey's characters over the years (and most of them unpopular opinions lol) but i think amelia might just be my favourite of them all, due to scorsone's acting which makes it hard for me to look away when she's on the screen but sometimes i do want to look away because her scenes are some of the most raw and visceral and watching her makes me physically uncomfortable, the way she doesn't just act but gives all in - her face, her body, her voice; when she's feeling things she's all emotion and it's uncomfortable to see someone crumble like that but that's just a testament to her talent, to the raw humanity she brings to the show ever since she appeared. she's flawed but aware of it, trying all the more to be great to make up for her shortcomings. completely agree with what you said about owen and amelia - don't like them as a couple but find their dynamic fascinating because it's always life and death with those two in a way few other pairs can convincingly sell (that 11x22 scene has been imprinted on my soul since 2015) anyway rant over!! stunning video!! amelia and caterina are goddesses!!
100% agree with you, i'm often uncomfortable during her most emotional scenes and editing this was ....... hard. i don't cry often but i do get emotional during grey's anatomy (dunno why!!) and especially during many of her scenes. the acting is out of this world. i know many people find her over the top and just too much, but i think she embodies the amelia of it all so perfectly!!! tbh i love basically every single greys character ..... and i often find myself surprised when i learn one of them is unpopular or hated by the fans. like... i LOVED stephanie, and i love maggie, and TEDDY (and tom, too!), arizona!!!!!! i just don't understand where people are coming from. the ONLY character i have a problem w is owen. other than that, i just love them all so much.
@@whcares HARD AGREE on everything. i get why for a lot of ppl she's over the top but for me that's what makes her *her*, she's in denial until the dam breaks and everything spills right out we seem to have a similar experience then; i loved stephanie and love tom!! with maggie it depends because a lot of her storylines have been a miss for me but i loove when she gets to do funny scenes, comedic maggie is best maggie imo; i'm editing teddy right now 😭 my most controversial opinion is probably that i've loved catherine since her first appearance, even the bitchy side haha and then there is of course my love for jackson (tho not so recently, sadly), april, andrew and carina i think hating owen has become the universal greys fandom experience 😂
