I would have agreed like a week ago too! After hearing her talk to Owen about PTSD and then talking about disability, it shows how much her true personality and acceptance shows through to her character, but in a totally awesome way!! :) and yes she is so so talented
This is spectacular, she is making the world better for people like her daughter, and my brother (he has autism) I wish that one day, more people could be as kind and loving as she is!
Say hello to your brother for me if you will. I have autism too, so I know how that is. And in these COVID 19 times it’s way more difficult. Wishing you and your family lots of love and strength.
my brother as autism too and it took me along time to accept and embrace it .. but now i think hes so special and i wouldn't be the person i am without him
@@missglowing I agree! I feel like at first I was so worried about I would lose. All the moments I wouldn’t be able to have with him. Now I’m just so grateful that he is who he is, he’s made my life so much better 😊 I couldn’t imagine anything without him!!!
Caterina is such a good actor! An underrated one, she deserves all the success and I hope she thrives even more after the end of Grey’s Anatomy. Amelia is the BEST character on the show. Her story is so important and so well written!
Yes, she really is! Fantastic actress, so full of emotions, charisma... I started to watch GA again just for her! Hopes she will do much better after GA some day!
I loved how she spoke about kindness, and what being a mother teaches you about it. I am not a mother myself, but I can only imagine. My best friend since third grade has down syndrome. We've always been different, not in the sense of hobbies and interests, rather in communication. She has taught me so much about emotions, sensitivity and kindness. God does she bring joy to my life. She is my lifeline.
It is so beautiful to see someone who is so well known experiencing such normal things, like disability. Celebrities always seem to have 'perfect' lives and she gave us a moment of true realness.
I love how she says typical and otherwise. English is not my first language and I always have a hard time describing my sister's disabilities, especially to the English children I meet but I definitely will use this now because it's just so respectful and clear! Gotta love Caterina :)) Amazing interview!
That was so beautiful to watch. I love how expressively and eloquently she spoke on the subject matter and that she's giving hope and a new perspective / language to families living this experience. Much love to her
As someone who is disabled I totally agree, our community is one of the best kept secrets and most underestimated groups of humans and no one of us fit into the same box and I’m so thankful for that 🤟🏻🥰
I am 14 and this is the way I want to raise my kids one day! When I was in 4th grade I started going to the special needs classroom every week to go and make sure they all know that they had a special place in my heart ❤️! When I left that school to go to middle school it was so hard to leave my friends who where in that class. Those teachers knew I had a special place in my heart so instead of going to PE and free time I went to help them, she has inspired me so much !!
Wow! Her perspective and how well (and positively!) she communicates it is so amazing, uplifting, insightful, and every other positive word in the dictionary! An amazing actress and an even more amazing advocate for promoting the beauty and benefits of “differences”. Hats off!
I love Caterina! She is an amazing actress, I have loved Amelia since Private Practice but once I struggled with opiate addiction myself a few years ago and then got clean, she became my favorite Grey's character by far. Caterina plays her beautifully with such love, compassion and emotion. I have been watching Grey's for 15 years, since the second season, but Amelia/Caterina is the reason I still watch
I think you have a beautiful family with 3 kickass daughters. My son is autistic...you do not see it, so people expect him to be "normal". Well...he isn't! He is exeptional!!! And he is mine! He'll be my guy forever! ♡
This interview made me cry, full out weeping of joy and love. Pippa is so much like my daughter Lily. She didn't have DS, but she did have severe developmental delays and dozens of medical battles. Watching Caterina sign to Pippa reminded me of learning to sign for Lily when we learned she was Deaf, even though Lily's cerebral palsy prevented her from signing to us. That interpretation of kindness as a mother who is watching their child's authentic self unfold is so beautiful. Her love for and admiration of Pippa reminds me of how I felt the moment I realized I'd stopped hoping for Lily to be "normal" and was just completely in love with her own unique perfect self.
What an amazing journey this is. I can see why Pippa talks with her hands. She got that from you. I have been in the Special Needs field for over 40 years now and each and every child is different. The overwhelming joy people with Down's have- well we need more of this in our world 🌎. Thank you for an amazing interview.
Oh, this THIS... I have mild cp and I relate to Peppa. Physically slow does not mean stupid or less smart. I walked slowly and some people get flabbergasted because they realize that I'm smart! Like slowness doesn't mean less smart internally! I'm so glad she's exposing this problematic issue with physically slow and it's prejudice!!
as someone who is disabled, Caterina speaking up about these important topics and talking about how Pippa’s disability has impacted her (and her family’s life) in a positive way brings me so much joy. when most people think “disabled” they think their life is worse and they don’t have many good days, but Caterina shows how this is absolutely not true. When she talked about being new to the disabled community I related since i am fairly new to the community as well. i love Caterina so much and the list of reasons why keeps growing longer and longer
My brother has Down Syndrome, and I couldn’t word it more perfectly than Caterina does. I like to call him a superhero, he sees the world in a way that many people don’t. It’s so beautiful and colourful and a world I’m happy to be a part of. It’s a world of differences, but a world where those differences are celebrated. I’m so proud to call Caterina one of my role models because not only does she advocate for what I advocate, but she is so humble, kind, caring and funny. She is an all round amazing human being
I love this woman. The way she describes DS and Pippa’s differences is so inspiring. People with differences deserve to be advocated for and I love that she’s doing that. 😊
It is a beautiful community, filled with love, support and an understanding of the magic our differences create; and how very strong and brave those differences make us. Pippa is simply beautiful and her smile is like a wash of fairy dust, sparkling and colorful.
What an amazing person Caterina is... @People guys - pls tell her, I’m so moved by her wisdom, empathy, joy n kindness -what she said about letting go of r assumptions so we can begin to b in the present moment n enjoy things as they r As opposed to expecting something that we assume, should be.. its such a deep spiritual concept applicable in all life scenarios n for ALL persons!! Deepest regards to her n her family 🙏🙏💗❤️ I’m gonna come back and often watch this intw Wenever I feel blue, thank you People and Caterina ❤️🌻
I just adore her even more now. She's so right on the money about the disability community/family. I would be a hot mess if it weren't for the autism community that's always been there for my son and I. Meeting other families for the first time felt so natural and comforting and just everything I didn't know we needed. Beautiful family 💙🧡💛❤💜
I took care of a girl with Down syndrome for a year and it was such an experience! I’ve never experienced more love towards me but at the same time she was soo mad a me sometimes and that’s the other extreme. But that job, Favorite job I’ve ever had such a gift 🧡
She is one of the most talented people that I know, she’s playing a character on greys anatomy and private practice that are so different then herself, and doing it so well. She is so inspiring, I listen to her talk and her message and words make such an impact on me it’s hard to even explain it. Even Amelia the character that she plays has impacted me a lot. I have been watching greys for what 6 months now and I went through the whole season twice Amelia is one of my favourite characters. On the show and I find it a privilege to have caterina scorsone as the actress that plays her. I didn’t know who was caterina before I met Amelia and now I can’t imagine myself not knowing her.
What a beautiful soul and a beautiful family - you can feel the love and joy radiating from her that she's speaking of. It makes me wonder how many other communities that are often pegged as different or unfortunate give equally resonant membership into shared intimacies and support.
Caterina Scorsone is one of my favorite actresses in the world and her acting as Amelia on Greys Anatomy is amazing!!! All Amelia storylines are prove how great actress she is!!! See her talking about something so personal as this is it’s something that we all should see and listen!!! She’s a great example as mother and as a woman 👏💐👏
I absolutely love this!! I learn so much from my little cousins one with Down syndrome and one with autism. Looking at the world through their eyes is the most eye opening thing ever.

so much respect for her, you can see the love in her eyes as she talks! I agree, Kindness is important and rare tbh these days... what a rare honest beautiful interview.. (Kinda out of context but so Ironic that in the show Amelia Shephard is not portrayed this way towards Children)
