I had some of my students excitedly tell me a joke: “what’s a chocolate bar’s preferred pronouns! Her/She!” It made me so happy to hear jokes normalizing the use and idea of preferred pronouns in young kids in their own style of humor in a way that isn’t demoralizing or demeaning. Gave me some hope for the future.
