From all the hints and lore that have been given, though, we can assume almost all Lombaxes are very similar in nature to Rivet and Ratchet, and have been a fundamental tool in combating evil in the multiverse... And that something, or someone, either betrayed the Lombaxes, or was strong enough to defeat them and scatter the race, leaving them all for dead.
They literally have the same reactions to everything... Same words, same personality. They are dimensional counterparts. Plus he's literally in a relationship with Talwyn.
Also it's stated that most of the race made it to the chosen dimension but some were scattered. There's obviously also those who stayed behind too. Mags wouldn't have offered for any lone Lombaxes to come find them if they weren't safe and/or able to support them too.
For the haters in the game you find messages and entries from a Lombax name Mags. He said that many Lombax are scattered across dimensions so Rivet could be from the same dimension as Ratchet or vise versa.

Lot of discussion from whether Rivet and Ratchet are counter parts. I'd say no. Lombaxes themselves might also come from some other dimension than Ratchet. So in sense Ratchet might not be from ''his universe'' either, as some of them got separated. We need to wait till answers. But i do think that genetics have to match in order to make offspring, so Rivet is indeed potential partner for Ratchet.

Rivet was just as excited to meet Ratchet and just as nervous around him. Why is it just Ratchet who has a crush? Also "They are the same person?" What? Even if you consider Rivet to be Ratchet's dimensional counterpart, this dosn't mean they are the same. The genetic deviation is obvious. And while I don't know how things work for Lombax, I dare to say that those two are a lot farther apart than siblings would be. You don't really get a very big romantic vibe in this one, but the game's rated E10+. You can't do much with that. But at least we didn't get ANY sign in-game that Rivet was born a male Lombax or anything, so that scenario has been averted.

Lot of discussion from whether Rivet and Ratchet are counter parts. I'd say no. Lombaxes themselves might also come from some other dimension than Ratchet. So in sense Ratchet might not be from ''his universe'' either, as some of them got separated. We need to wait till answers. But i do think that genetics have to match in order to make offspring, so Rivet is indeed potential partner for Ratchet.

@@Anko3342 Eh I dunno, I feel like there was more a hinting romance with Talwyn, of course the comics pretty much confirmed this and then they confirmed it yeah at the panel and the most recent source with the 2018 R&C artbook also confirm it. But yeah...plus him and Rivet are...kind of the same, they sort of hint at this in a dialogue, so it would be kinda weird...and Rivet is going back to her dimension anyway soo...can't really have anything more than a friendship.

Also "They are the same person?" What? Even if you consider Rivet to be Ratchet's dimensional counterpart, this dosn't mean they are the same. The genetic deviation is obvious. And while I don't know how things work for Lombax, I dare to say that those two are a lot farther apart than siblings would be. So in my book there is nothing stoping those two from having a more serious relationship.

Actually the game itself hints that they are not the Same person, if you play the Lombax shrine side quests the game itself let's you know that all Lombaxes come from one dimension but they all spread out, Ratchet and Rivet are more like Miles Morales and Spider Gwen, same roles different people
