What’s heartbreaking is that Alister seems to still care about ratchet Ratchet:so your just gonna kill me? Alister:kill you now, save you in the past He even sacrifices him later to save ratchet and stop the clock
Later after the events of Rift Apart. Rivet: I never had the chance to meet my father i only heard that he was a brave general and wanted to save his people. Ratchet: ...
I feel his desire to bring back the lombaxes was far greater than his love for Ratchet. Thinking the great clock would bring him back, no biggie. Hurt a little now and gain a lot more in the future. In the end, it would have been much darker if he got to the chamber before clank.
I think he just had way too much health. I run out of ammo well before the second phase even began. I think that was a problem with all crack in time bosses. Either they had too much health or the guns did so little damage. It was the only game I got the RYNO for just to beat Azimuth and the secret Vorselon fight after getting all Zoni
From a story perspective, making Azimuth the final boss instead of nefarious was brilliant. The fact that you now have to fight potentially the only other member of your race is just gut wrenching. Such a fantastic story
And it also fits to later games of Ratchet's hesitation to find the other Lombaxes too, even if he knows they wouldn't all be like Alister on top of his fears he wouldn't live up to their expectations.
JOSHIE G. Same. In my opinion, this was easily the most impactful boss in the entire franchise. How it’s set up, what’s at stake, how the atmosphere captures all of it, and how emotionally driven it is. I think the ending was done perfectly, and having Azimuth as the final boss was a great twist. I wish we could’ve seen him again though, in some way, shape or form. I know he had a statue made for him in that museum in Into The Nexus, but I wish there could’ve been somewhat more. I’d love to see like an apparition or vision of Azimuth, or even Kaden. It would’ve been heartwarming to see. I can just imagine Kaden and Azimuth in the afterlife.

Definitely the best game in the whole future series and best ratchet and clank game overall in my opinion. Tells the whole story of Ratchet and Clank. Hoverboots and RYNO V are awesome. Amazing and smooth boss battles. Amazingly clever challegenges. This game has is all.
Faizan Malik ship gameplay i felt was mundane and repetitive and took away from actual planets reaching their full potential. Levels not including krells canyon were too linear. Its as if they forgot when the series made ratchet hold and shoot big weapons that the animations should reflect that like in the first 3 games. Tools i will admit is guilty of this somewhat but does a superior job than acit. the humour from the previous games whilst still there is severely poor and lacking. When Ratchet goes to the Lombax dimension, he needs to learn some of their battle techniques instead of relying so much on his other weapons like the blasters. Just to build a strong base, Azimuth did one move that deflected an entire barrage of ammo; that's pretty insane
Imagine playing this part for the first time ever. No spoilers. Supposedly last game on the Future series (and maybe the series overall) at that time, and Ratchet is falling to his death with only Clank to save him, wow.
A Crack in Time adds a compelling narrative and several fantastic gameplay enhancements, making it one of the franchise's greatest entries. A Crack in Time is one of the best action games on the PS3 because to its compelling narrative that explores the reasons behind the eponymous pair's longevity.
From a story perspective, the future series is still superior! Edit: I retract this statement. Although more cinematic, I can't deny that the future series is one very large step of deviating from the original concept of the first game: the critique of superficiality and capitalism all done in a dry and well executed humor
Orchestra Gamer Definitely. The Future saga really stepped it up with the storytelling, and story/writing in general. From the characters, to the story, to the set pieces, etc.
Alister was misguided by the fact that he thought he can change the past with the clock, just like in real life, some things aren’t worth changing. You have to embrace the future and move forward. But instead, Alister focuses on his grieve and his past mistakes for the destruction of the lombaxes. I mean, I don’t blame him for trying to find a way to save his race, but it just wouldn’t have worked with the way he wanted to do it.

@ArtBuffalo Kinda odd she helped him on quest for booty then just stopped in crack in time. But tbh they are kinda tossing her around, she doesn't even in appear in a rift apart (save for the credit in a cameo)
The only thing that I would've liked is for Ratchet to inherit the mantle of Praetorian guard. That, and Alister's wrench with the shooting black holes ability would've been a cool secret unlock.
for a split second after you take down alister and ratchet goes for the time lever it looks like he was about to cry but quickly composed himself. I honestly feel bad, alister had been alone for so long and lives with guilt from the past. He's a veteran trapped in the past and his whole goal was to bring the Lombaxes back but, he didn't realize the repercussions of his actions as he was looking around in confusion as the tower started to explode. his last act was very brave as he sacrificed himself to allow ratchet who is younger by many years to survive and continue to find the remains of their race.
Of all the Ratchet and Clank: Future games, A Crack in Time will forever be my favourite and the best (in my opinion). My only “gripe” with it is the redemption before death trope which I’m not too fond of, however General Azimuth being the final boss nonetheless puts icing on the cake. This game came out so long ago yet many years later in 2020 it still hurts my heart. *Edit* : also, are we just not gonna acknowledge the fact that 1) this is the first time Ratchet called Alister by his first name and not “General” or “General Azimuth” and 2) Ratchet and Alister aren’t the only Lombaxes? I mean did everyone forget about Angela Cross?
But i Think he was reasonable. Azimuth isn´t the ind of Villian that just want to conquer the universe or get rich. He wanted to save his people and went a dark route sacrificing the safety of the universe for his goal. He was incredible lonely and angered when Ratchet didn´t support him in his plan to use the clock. During the boss fight he even mentions to kill ratchet just to save him later.
I remember beating this boss with only the wrench.. Took me like 30-45 minutes but was so rewarding to beat lol Shame I don't have a PS3 anymore, favourite console of all time because of this franchise (and littlebigplanet)
This was such a great moment for me when I first beat the game. When Alister started powering up his wrench I wondered if he was going to do it. Then he shot ratchet and tried to force his way into the great clock. I was thinking about how tragic this was and I was also super happy insomniac games had the balls to go through with something like that. And then the final fight happened. I used my max rank grovitron and forced alister to dance as I shot him over and over point blank with the RYNO 5. So in the end my version of ratchet and alister were both as cold and brutal as each other. It was pretty tragic when you really think about it.
I like how some bosses when you near them aren’t dead, they are only a bit inured, showing how tough they really are, like azimuth, and Neferious in the 3rd game. Even Drek ( he kills him self when trying to avoid being crushed) and the giant Protopet is only knocked out. Qwark doesn’t even die, both times you fight him. Courtney gears is severely wounded. The thugs boss survives the first encounter with ratchet but dies the second time.
Weird fact: There isn't a single body of water to swim in the entire game, in fact I don't even think the swimming animation is coded into the game haha
I imagine he'd be like the Joker in an episode of Batman the Animated Series where a nobody crook "kills" Batman and he completely loses it cause he wasn't the one to do it.
The beauty of it is that it is in direct contrast with Azimuth's statement earlier in the game. "Sometimes the universe has a cruel sense of humour..."
I know I've made a few comments on this video however alister saying kaden would be ashamed of ratchet being a coward and a traitor as well as ratchet being alone for the rest of his life is a low blow. im pretty sure kaden would of stopped alister too if he were alive but what he did to save his kit during the attack was noble in its own right
There are signs that Azimuth might be unhinged since his intro. But we're suspended in our own disbelief that Ratchet finally met someone who knows his family. Clank has the Zonis. And Ratchet is just excited that he and his buddy is finding their "place" in the universe until this happens. The boss fight was awesome, Allister is strong and a Lombax fight is awesome. But the twist and with clank saving the timeline is just great.
After so many years after playing this game I literally just realized that zoni sounds a lot like Sony It is either a coincidence or a very well placed gag Damn I love insomniac
This game holds a special place in my heart. This was my first Ratchet and Clank game, so I didn’t know who anyone was or what was going on. But as soon as I played the first level, I was hooked. I loved every aspect of the game: it’s character designs, it’s weapons, it’s levels, the voices, the bosses, hell I even loved the tedious things like finding all the Golden nuts. And to top everything off this was the first game where I was genuinely emotionally invested in the characters Normally I would play thinking “eh, it’s just a game so who care?” But when Alister betrayed me, my jaw hit the floor. “NOOOO!! Oh my god Ratchet nooooo!” And that ending! Oh my god my heart sank seeing Alister sacrifice himself. I was genuinely sad for a couple of days afterwards. Best game ever. Nothing has topped it yet
After I played this game I looked up everything I could find about Ratchet and Clank, their origin, their other games, the fuckin basic enemies. I really hope they make another one of these, because I’d buy it in a heart beat
I understand Allister wanted to correct his mistake but its not worth putting the universe in danger and plus Ratchet would never meet Clank and they would never go on their adventures
@@haydenfowle7576 Right, he also in the process tried to stop the friendship of ratchet and clank in the first place which is another reason why am upset when Alastair called ratchet a traitor!

The future trilogy is also probably the most serious of all Ratchet and clank games (and it still dosen't take itself too serious in some moments)
RaidikTheHedgehog Nah the most serious one was Deadlocked
@@RaidikV Tools of Destruction still had the humour from the old games.
Imagine ratchet finally finding the lombax after so many years cause remember they are not dead or extinct they are just gone
The "Ratchet and Clank" games has an unique type of fun gameplay.
Playthrough completed! Thanks for watching:)

Kinda odd she helped him on quest for booty then just stopped in crack in time.
But tbh they are kinda tossing her around, she doesn't even in appear in a rift apart (save for the credit in a cameo)

*AA: “Can’t?! Heh! Never could let go of consequence could ya?!”*
The only thing that I would've liked is for Ratchet to inherit the mantle of Praetorian guard. That, and Alister's wrench with the shooting black holes ability would've been a cool secret unlock.
Idk why, but the hug at the beginning is adorable, but at the same time heartbreaking, if you know what i mean.
most. epic. ratchet game. ever
You got that right
Deadlocked says otherwise
Deadlocked is just dumb action though.

Considering how the old Ratchet and Clank games had themes of corporate greed and consumerism, that’s kind of the point.

I hope Ratchet finds the Lombaxes someday.
@ArtBuffalo he’s getting closer
I think he will someday
for a split second after you take down alister and ratchet goes for the time lever it looks like he was about to cry but quickly composed himself. I honestly feel bad, alister had been alone for so long and lives with guilt from the past. He's a veteran trapped in the past and his whole goal was to bring the Lombaxes back but, he didn't realize the repercussions of his actions as he was looking around in confusion as the tower started to explode. his last act was very brave as he sacrificed himself to allow ratchet who is younger by many years to survive and continue to find the remains of their race.
general alister was gone mad he not just saving his kind but also destroying the entire universe and attacking kaden's only son ratchet that treason.
Ratchets death still breaks my heart to this day, I was so relieved he was saved after reversing time for 6 minutes!
I remember playing this game. Made me cry when Ratchet was shot off because I actually thought he died. (I was like 10 at the time.)
He did die, but Clank restored him!
I mean did everyone forget about Angela Cross?
can u plz help me on a glitch i have trouble with
But i Think he was reasonable.
"what's that snowball? little jimmy fell down a well?"
*monster noises*
"Ohhh! You're hungry for blood! i was WAY off."
I remember beating this boss with only the wrench.. Took me like 30-45 minutes but was so rewarding to beat lol

3:23 i got scared right there when i was 11 years old
I always cry over this when I replay the game..
The moment you think the game's cleared... God, I LOVED this part!
Is it me or he looks like Kratos? 3:24
just you..
Sarcastic Sponge is that sarcasm? :V
La Casa del Taichoro holy shit he does look like kratos!
those red scales remind me of kratos tattoos
Yep
Yes
I like how some bosses when you near them aren’t dead, they are only a bit inured, showing how tough they really are, like azimuth, and Neferious in the 3rd game. Even Drek ( he kills him self when trying to avoid being crushed) and the giant Protopet is only knocked out. Qwark doesn’t even die, both times you fight him. Courtney gears is severely wounded. The thugs boss survives the first encounter with ratchet but dies the second time.
This is hands down the best ratchet and clank
Yeah. Rift apart is gorgeous but I wished they stuck with Everyone’s same character design and behaviors. This one feels more mature.
One of the best final boss of all Rachet & clank games
Alister: The lombaxes must be saved! They need us!!
Also Alister: **murders the only other Lombax because he ignored him**
The groove-a-tron is the best weapon
Brissa DLR easily the best right there with mr.zurcon (zurkon) little robot drone assist in my opinion
Weird fact: There isn't a single body of water to swim in the entire game, in fact I don't even think the swimming animation is coded into the game haha
True, but the water effects in Glimlick Valley (after restoration) look great and it leads to a holoplan i think
In the insonmiac museum, it is stated that there were plans for swimming but time issues made it impossible to code.
@@lastlombaxxIronic, for a game all about time.

General Alister most definitely should've lived in exile longer
but then the Whole universe would have ended

Alister: Lmfao
This was the most heart warming ending.
Girls with a Time Machine: “I’m your granddaughter”

I just remember when I was like 9, I completed this game without any Guide.
This game was amazing.
Imagine if Nefarious was there to see Azimuth kill Ratchet and then get super jealous over not being the one to do it?
I imagine he'd be like the Joker in an episode of Batman the Animated Series where a nobody crook "kills" Batman and he completely loses it cause he wasn't the one to do it.
This brings back so many memories...
Azimuth was really cool, this was my fave ps3 game and still is
“The trick is , Learning how to take a joke” hehe best Quote I’ve herd of in a very long time .
The beauty of it is that it is in direct contrast with Azimuth's statement earlier in the game.
"Sometimes the universe has a cruel sense of humour..."
Alister: *Kills Ratchet*
Nefarius and other villians: oh come on!!!
After so many years after playing this game I literally just realized that zoni sounds a lot like Sony
It is either a coincidence or a very well placed gag
Damn I love insomniac

Alistair was my fave. When he died I basically sobbed. RIP
The VGM rift apart
All right got it, nobody talks to ratchet that way! Call him a coward and a traitor a den Alastair and see what happens!
Technically he didn’t have a choice but to do what he did because of the fact that he was never told what happened to the rest of his family in the first place so what I’m saying is Alastair had no right to call him a traitor.
